How Do You Avoid "Raging" At Games

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 4:38 am

I'm surprised so many gamers are using the old "stop playing" line. I thought that was a parent- or otherwise non-gamer-only line. Who stops playing a video game just because they get frustrated?

I handle it by swearing like a sailor.
I know myself that I'll do better after a long break. I mean if I start getting heated at a game, it's time to stop. Warriors Orochi 3, can really frustrate me - many many times I've taken breaks from it. Then I declared that I'll stay away from chaos and strictly play hard mode. Less stressful and more fun.

I have broken a few controllers during my days of heavily playing fighting games.

pick up XBOX throw that out the window

This is all you needed to say :P

your afraid of the game
fear leads to hate hate leads to anger anger leads to the dark side
But the dark side has cookies! Cookies! :cookie:

Wow, yet another one who says they've broken a controller while playing... I'm truly surprised

Chill out. If it pisses you off, don't play it. When you get aggravated, rage quit. Make sure you do it in comedic fashion.

Or, ya know, control your emotions.

The title says it all, how can I avoid raging on games (Without Alcohol, I'm a minor still)
--You take breaks away from the game far more often.
--Anger management classes?
--Don't play games you know tend to enrage you.
--Don't play if you're already hyper or overly emotional

Alternatively:
--every time you rage like that, put a dollar in a jar, and then give it charity. During the time you're learning to control your rage and possibly associating raging with being broke, you'll end up doing a lot of good for charity. ;)

Some people have a difficult time controlling emotions/anger once they get to a certain level....it's not really about whether they take something "seriously" on a general basis. I doubt the OP has a worship altar around his XBOX, for example. ;) Some activities tend to raise adrenaline (hence emotions) faster and farther than in others, that's all.

I normally stop playing then get up and walk away and cool down for awhile.

Forget the game for years and then come back when you've gotten better at games.
just kidding, of course, some games are difficult no matter how good you are at others.

I just sit down somewhere and read or watch movies or do productive things.

I tried that with Rayman Arena. Years later I still couldn't defeat the last level. :sadvaultboy:
