Throw your keyboard through your monitor.

Then you won't be able to rage anymore.

Walk away from the game.

Cuss.

Eat a snack.

Drink some water.

Take it out on others. Just kidding.

I don't, I just let it go, but it has stages, ranging from 'I'm good bro' to 'Every other word is a curse word'. I have no problem with people, but who boy, I have anger problems with video games.

Isn't the point of playing games to have fun? What exactly is fun about raging? Stop playing video games and get a new hobby that you think is fun.

Why rage at an inanimate object, about a subject most likely caused by yourself?

I avoid it as much as possible, but it's inevitable for me.

This works well for me and is a more passive approach: Just stop playing it for a few hours and come back later.

I'm surprised so many gamers are using the old "stop playing" line. I thought that was a parent- or otherwise non-gamer-only line. Who stops playing a video game just because they get frustrated? :P

I handle it by swearing like a sailor.

Alcohol wouldn't help you avoid raging at a game though, if you drink too much.

But if you want to mimic the feeling of being slightly drunk, don't sleep for a night.

I'd advice playing something else than you currently are, if you get frustrated on it. I personally find guitar hero to be almost like meditation at times.

If you're raging because you're stuck on something, I'd turn off for a bit. I normally find things just come together after a break.
If it's because the game is poor for whatever reason (bugs, crappy controls etc.) then maybe debate whether it's really worth playing.

Good to see you again Gorbad :D but seriously when I play Gears of War 3 you don't want to be near me when someone kills me with a sawed-off shotgun... (IT'S DEADLY...)

I tend to calm myself down and look around at whatever is frustrating me, looking for something I may be missing, or I go and derp about for a bit till I level up some more then I go in and wreck [censored]. Depends what kind of game i'm on.

I have many broken controllers from my younger days. Now I don't takes games as seriously. I rarely play harder than normal and have no problem adjusting the difficulty lower to get past a stupid part. Struggling through games is no longer something to be proud of to me. I don't have the time or energy to spend on playing a game that pisses me off and since I only buy games that are on sale I have a big backlog of games to play and little financial investment in any of them. I just move onto something else and put that developer/publisher on my personal ignore list.

So it's multiplayer then? Sounds pretty much like the call of duty raging when someone kills you with a "wtf" knife swing / teleport "wtf" knife charge. Best to just shrug it off.

Oh and I'm wondering if you're coming back to Valton with a new character, as you ages ago said you might?

Edit: I think I'm going to have to make a poll of this... Asking "Have you ever broken a controller while playing a game, that wasn't caused by a lot of use?"

Instead of getting frustrated, you should just become more determined. I love the challenge of a difficult game, when my determination pays off and I finally clear a hard part.

I don't understand the point of breaking things or having a rage fit when playing a game, it's just wasted energy over an ultimately pointless activity.

I went to live in a Buddhist temple for a year and found inner peace. Minus the temple part. And the living part.

Back when I played online FPS games a lot, I found chewing gum helped a bit. I also used to bind insulting messages to certain keys so I could unload my frustration at dying quickly before it escalated into a full rage tantrum.
