Humor in Skyrim and other TES games

Haha, yeah! I forgot about him.. Little random things like that really add flavour to the TES games.

I think the zealous Talos preacher in Whiterun is intentionally over-zealous, to the point that he's a really a charicature of any religious preacher, and although he's incredibly annoying, he's kind of funny too. Like Faendil (..or what's-his-name) who kept nagging about that ring of his...

Humor in TES:
There was a book filled with jokes in Daggerfall.
Ma'iq at least in Morrowind where he was actually funny (ok maybe Skyrim too).
The lusty argoinan maid books.
The naked nord in Mournhold
Maybe Gaenor from Tribunal.

But in Skyrim, not so much really.

Unfortunately the Khajiit and Argonian seem to be in the game just for the sake of humoristic effect. Otherwise I can't explain why Bethesda keeps them so undeveloped as important characters and humanized to the point they look like men in silly costumes. If Bethesda are willing to make a game in the beast lands they better start cutting these races some slack and build more respectable characters and stories not just backstabbing assassins and gypsies in the tent.

Without spoiling anything: there is a quest springs to mind that was intentionally amusing. A goat is involved.

Yes, this! Very amusing quest.

Most of what Crassius Curio or Therana has to say in MW
Everything Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurdak has to say in Oblivion
Am I sorry such obviously comic characters weren't included in Skyrim? Not really. They were a lot less funny the 2nd or 3rd or 4th etc time you came across them

edit: The only obviously comic character in Skyrim I come across is Cicero and I kill him as soon as I can get away with it.

I saw a mammoth fall from the sky and die when it hit the ground. I laughed until I noticed the giant that was standing somberly nearby. Then I was a little sad.

Being sent to retrieve an object that "may or may not exist" made me laugh.

Being experimented on in the College made me laugh.

Everything that Cicero says makes me laugh.

That traveling Khajiit (M'aiq?) who, with every line, seems to be mocking some of the stupider requests and complaints that were made by the real-world fanbase. I find those to be particularly hilarious.

Well, something Bethesda put in for those who actually read the in game books makes me laugh every time I see it.

I can't remember which cave it is, but it's east of Whiterun, and there's two bandits outside, one holds a note, can't remember what it says. But when you go inside there's man called something "The Blind" who just sits there with a book infront of him, if you've looked at the book after talking to him, you'll understand why it made me laugh.

EDIT: The cave is White River Watch.

TES games are loaded with humor. A lot of it can be found, unsurprisingly, in the books.

I get a lot of laughs from Maiq the Liar. "Nord's armor has lots of fur, thees sometimes makes Maiq nervous" is one of my favorites.

One thing I wonder, though - are there any "fun" items in Skyrim, like the previously mentioned Boots Of Blinding Speed?

I'll betcha that was a Skeever trap. :P

Haha! I can see why. The fur on the Studder Armour kind of looks like Khajiit.

I dunno if this was intentional, but I'm sure they knew it would happen what with how they programmed the necromancers' AIs. In a random necromancer's den, there was a necromancer alone with a dead goat on a sacrificial altar. He then proceeded to resurrect the goat to fight me. I killed the necromancer before I knew whether the goat would attack me or not. I'm tempted to reload the save to see...

M'aiq the Liar:
M'aiq does not understand what is so impressive about shouting. M'aiq can shout whenever he wants.

I opened my jaw when I heard this.
