IGN Says "Skyrim" One Of 2011's "Biggest Screwup

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 7:37 am

The title of this thread is like one of those out-of-context headlines that crappy news sites post in a desperate attempt to generate hits. I wonder how many people are reacting to the title rather than actually reading the article.

It's not calling Skyrim one of the biggest screwups of 2011. It's calling the PS3 lag issues specifically one of the biggest screwups.

It amazes me to see people complaining about the game. It's literally one of the greatest games I've ever played, if not the greatest single player. Bethesda did SUCH a good job. Of course there are some bugs here and there, it's not 'flawless' but no game is.

I have the PC version, and while it does have issues it's nowhere near the biggest screwup of 2011. I think it's an easy contender for GOTY.

PS3 users may feel different.

The game was great, unfortunately I've stopped playing it on PS3 because of how badly it performs.

The PS3 version isn't "one of" 2011's biggest screw ups, it is 2011's biggest screw up. Possibly even the biggest screw up for a long time.

I'm not saying skyrim is not a good game. Best ever or goty is a matter of a opinion and personally I could name 5 game from 2011 I enjoyed more than skyrim.

But still I enjoy skyrim. It just svcks I have to nerd the way I play because it's broken on my platform of choice.

That said the ps3 version has serious issues that have not been addressed.

I always knew BS would [censored] over the ps3 users. They did it with Oblivion and they did it with Skyrim. Makes me regret buying it for ps3.

So despite knowing you would get a [censored] version of the game you still bought it?

IGN is like a child screaming in class to get attention. Ignore them and they'll go away.

wow that's funny because that's the exact same tactic Bethesda is using to deal with this screw up

I had hopes that they would of gotten their [censored] together. I was sadly very mistaken.

It isn't Sony hate, it's that the PS3 has a very serious hardware problem: lack of RAM. Sony made the moronic decision to give each PS3 less than a gig of ram, and for a game like Skyrim that records an enormous amount of small details over a long, long span of playtime, the hardware issue starts to cause problems. Obviously.

I don't even think they -can- fix this, because the problem isn't in their game.

Bethesda can't code for PS3 it's a fact. Oblivion was ported by an outside company and that was fine. Bethesda then ported the GOTY version and it had problems. fallout 3 had horrific lag problems on PS3 that were never fixed and now skyrim. Don't tell me to be patient and await a fix that isn't coming.

I play on the PS3 without any performance isues  no lag, no stutter, and only once did it freeze and I had to restart my console, but that's not the first time that happened. ... heck, I just encountered my first bug since the game is out. I can't put weapons on weapon plaques and racks in Hjerim and if I put armor on the mannequins they turn invisible.

but I manage to get around that by putting armor on it and something that I don't want on the mannequins. go out the menu. they turn inviseble. activate them and take out one item mostly the shield or some stupig boots and then everything turns up again

for me, even the PS3 is worth GOTY! So **** off, IGN! they're crap.

edit: and to the post above: I never had any lag with Fallout 3 either. you guys are really unlucky :(

The thing is they cant fix it completely. The game engine and the ps3 hardware just doesnt match therefore giving you a broken game. They might make it a little better but they will never completely fix it.

I do not take anything IGN says with seriousness. I mean seriously they proclaimed that Dark Souls would blow Skyrim out of the water. They are extremely Bias, hell this article is proof.

Dark Souls actually works and runs on both consoles, effectively blowing Skyrim out of the water. Instead of ad hominems you could try to explain why you think Skyrim PS3 is NOT a huge screw up. Because it totally is.

The thing is how can u blame the console who's specs have been known for 6 years. They shoul have adjusted the code to maximize the ps3 resources not just copy and paste. Other companies have been doing it this whole generation with great results.

So either Bethesda decided to cut costs for a game in the name of profit or are just too flat out stupid to do ther job.

They optimized the game for the xbox hardware, and it runs very good on the xbox.

That the PS3 crowd was lucky enough to even get to play the game until the PS3 fragments their saves into unplayability.

My point is they couldnt maxmize the ps3 hardware as the ps3 version is only a port.
