[RELWIP] Insanity's AV Packages

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 11:25 am

Yes well, not everybody knows how to open the .dds files. And with your folder-naming system there's no way knowing which VarXX is pink/violet, therefore a lot of people won't know which one to turn off. On top of that, the Skeever textures are pretty much totally white, so it's impossible to make out what color the body is. Only by the small hairs can you make out the color of the fur.

It doesn't bother me, since I solved my problem. It just might bother others. Not everybody wants pink/violet Skeevers. Some of us like to keep things more or less lore-friendly.

Agreed. As per a comment in another thread. I think this is fantastic work, but variety is the spice of life! (and I also would like to remove just the brightly coloured variations, but keep the rest..) If you could let us know what Var files relate to what, that would be great.

Can nobody look inside folders anymore? :P

Pink ---> Var13, Var14
Dark Green ---> Var07, Var08
Dark Purple ---> Var10, Var11

Rest are the darker colours

Or Sage Thumbs (which is what I've been using for a while). http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2534

Lets you preview all kinds of image file types.

Can nobody look inside folders anymore? :tongue:
That requires some trial and error apparently. :fakenopic:

Hey, could you do a few "painted" Mammoths? Runes or stuff the giants have painted on them -> painted on the Mammoths. BUT! Not the wild Mammoths should be painted, the tamed ones from the Giant. Something like Warmammoth with warpaint. :D

Isn't much room on the mammoth for those, most of it is fur, not much skin :laugh:

You know what's really missing everywhere? Dwemer textures. All the centurions, spiders, mechanoids. I know they're all supposed to look "golden" and "yellow" but I think...some blackness, some "use" after centuries, some rust would be neat. Even though we don't see then that often!

I'm writing this request at all active AV package creators which create their own excellent textures. As you probably know I'm trying to create examples for AV, including AV package ports, examples etc. Done a bit of research of searched the web. Draugr, skeletons and to a lesser extend sabrecat, wolves, mammoth, giant how all been done. Also AV packages for them exist. What I'm sorely missing are textures for Deers and Elk (only 1 texture for each exist). I will be away for two days but after that I'm gonna make an excell sheet which shows for every NPC how many variants exist for it. Showing which one have lots of variations and which ones don't

In combination with wildlife mods like skytest SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators and Real wildlife which among other things add quite a few packs/herds of Deer and Elk some more Deer and Elk variation would by great and add immersion to Skyrim.

Hence my request. If someone should be looking for an idea for a new AV package (to be created by you) I think those would be GREAT. As said before most animals in Skyrim (prey) look as if they are on this world for the first day, eg NO scars , no blood no dirt on them etc. One would guess that with all those predators out there, they would show some signs of attack.

I'm not pushing for the creation of an AV package. I'm just looking if you perhaps would be interested in doing one for Deers and Elk. Or for other NPC's which do not have much variations at this point.

Just stopping by to give you a heads up that AV 1.3 has been released, which has a new package structure.

The current packages will not work until you redo them to the new specifications,
or run them through http://www.mediafire.com/?t3qikbzck04jjdm.

Also, see http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1366265-relwip-automatic-variants-thread-4/page__view__findpost__p__20651061 about the new features this new structure provides.

Let me know if you have any issues. 8) Keep up the good work!

@Insanity. Would it be possible for you to update your AV packages. It would make life easier for us, especially the newcomers to AV. You have probably done it for yourself by now, can you please share it with the rest of us?

@Insanity. Have sent you a PM but got no response, gonna try it here also. You mentioned the AV packabes will probably not be updated any time soon. I can convert them for you so you can put them in your thread so others can download them. An alternative would be if you grant me permission to convert them and put them on my AV thread homepage. Hopefully you read this and are able to react....
