Interesting Facts

Post » Tue Jun 21, 2011 5:39 pm

Post some random facts that you might have off the top of your head, found on the internet, or have stored away for a rainy day. Lets see how strange they can get.

Here are some I found:

1.By the time we die, most of us will have spent a quarter of a century asleep, of which six years or more will have been spent dreaming—and almost all of those dreams are forgotten upon waking.

2. Policemen are allowed to bite a dog if they think it will calm the dog down in Paulding, Ohio.
That is intense.

3. French fries are the single most popular fast food in America. In 1970, french fries surpassed regular potato sales in the United States. In 2004, Americans ate 7.5 billion pounds of frozen french fries.
If you think about it, this is gross. The most popular food is one of the greasiest foods ever? And we ate 7.5 BILLION pounds of french fries in 2004? Just think awhile of how many french fries you eat (if you like them of course) in a year.

heres an interesting fact. whity tighties were invented in south america in 1934

heres a bonus fact, david bowie has a dileated pupil because he got into a fist fight in elementary school where he was punched in the eye.

okay, maybe I lied. those were not interesting... at least not in the conventional sense.

I thought they were interesting. I never knew where whitey tighties were made in South America. I could kind of guess though that david bowie would do something or have something like that. That guy is just.... well... ya.

It took 4 actors to play Darth Vader.
Porkie-Pines (sp?) Float naturally on water.
25% of the human's bones are in their feet alone.
Polar Bears hair is hollow like straws.
Elephants are the only Mammals that can't jump :o
You weight less when the Moon is directly above you.
If you measure your self when you wake up, you'll be taller when you go to sleep.
(Trippy one) it is believed, according to the Bible, Adam and Eve only had 3 sons.

woah. Never would've guessed that.

Here are a couple I was just told. No idea how my parents know these-

Flea's can jump 130 times higher than their own height. In human terms this is equal to a 6 foot person jumping 780 feet in the air.

And if you want to escape an aligator's clutches, if you can, push your thumbs into his eyes, and he will let you go instantly. That is if you aren't already bleeding to death, or aren't passed out to be able to do it.

You're three times more likely to die at work than in a war.

We know more about outer space or our solar system or our galaxy, don't quote me, than our own oceans.

Oh, you're welcome to it, if you want the really juicy stuff go do a search for Greek pottery. Anything featuring Dionysus is a sure hit.

I got to the thing about how searing meat doesn't seal in moisture, which I don't understand because I have witnessed first hand how it in fact does. If I don't sear my hamburgers on the pan there is juice eeeeeverywhere. And in fact I once seared it so well that when i bit into it after cooking, it made the bun so wet that I wish I hadn't.
