Yea whenever I am trying to climb over a few rocks to get to the other side; its blocked by invisible walls. They should just remove them.

Agreed.

Hate them so much. I was just trying to jump over a few rocks and really? You really needed to stop me? So I had to take the long way around..

I do not even know why we would need them. Just take them out.

well i have the 360 version so i cant get rid of them.

plus, they are totally pointless. they block places that you can go to. i can understand if they put them in a place where you aren't supposed to be until later in the game (or even around the edges of the map) but they are in the stupidest places.

NEWS FLASH

We are not talking about borders on the edge of the map. We are talking about the random sets of invisible walls throughout the game stopping you from jumping over certain rock formations/ other areas. It gets really annoying to us console players, having to go all the way around when there is a clear path right there.

Kinda like this..

Try finding a very large rock formation, with a clear path to the other side and try to jump over it.

You should go :banghead: right into a randomly placed invisible wall, forcing you to turn around and find a new path to an area you can clearly see but can not reach...

Guess they are there to make sure you "Follow The Main Roads" or something along those lines...

what i don't understand is why they put them there seeing as it would have taken a lot of work to go around the entire wasteland laying these out. so much work for nothing

I've run into them in quite a few places. It isn't quite as bad as say, Dragon Age: Origins, but it sure isn't like Fallout 3 or Oblivion. Usually in those two games if you could see a place, you could at least attempt to get there. Stockholm's sniper post comes to mind.... I've attempted to travel a straight line across a steep hillside, managed to scraqe by, and ended up trapped *behind* the wall on the other side. Things like that make me happy I play on computer; I'd have never managed to glitch out of there.

To avoid complains like: 'Why do I loose my follower when I climb up that rock. They are supposed to follow me all the time.'

It's a engine restriction. Navmeshes for NPC's can't be placed everywhere. Obsidion's method was to place 'invisible walls'. Bethseda didn't in FO3 and the complains about the followers where endless. How this one.

Exactly my point. When I first ran into them I was like "What The [censored] is this?"

Really annoying when developers have to add something that they worked on and most likely figured out it would be a bad idea, and they just add it into the game anyways because it has already been made and no use in throwing it away....

Doesn't sound familiar to me. And I've been exploring quite a bit. Then again, I haven't found any of those horrible (intolerable) bugs and glitches either.

Gotta keep searching, I guess.

I don't mind invisible walls, they are there for good reason, besides this isn't the first game to have invisible walls everywhere.

If they want us to follow the main roads then why do they have so much going on away from the roads?
They made some miscalculations when putting the layout in.
Just pray to god they answer our prayers and get off their keisters an fix the problem.

Your lucky I had just started a new game due to the notorious glitches that got me stuck on a cliffside I tried to jump off.
I was in GS just robbed the bar and talked to sunny, went out the front door, autosaved then quit.
The kicker is, when I went to play again I was stilled crouched outside the saloon but I couldn't turn, couldn't stand up.
All I could do is go forward and backward.
It wasn't my controller, I tried multiple controllers, and when I started a new game it ran like clockwork. (minus walls)

What I meant was to follow the regular path layout, as in...

"The only way to get across this mountain, is not by climbing on top of the rocks jumping over, but to follow a Pre-guided elite system of complicated roads and turns, instead of taking the two jumps."

Understand my point? No reason to have the player take a certain path when they could just as easily reach the same location in 1/3 of the time.

I have not poked around in the GECK for this or come across them yet in the game. I even went over the hill to Vault 34 rather than around it. Maybe I am lucky. I think there were a couple near Bolder City, but that made sense as otherwise I would have walked into an area that was really more of an interior cell being used as an exterior cell. So I can see how having them in an otherwise acceptable path would be a pain.

Anyway, are they actual elements placed in the game world or is it a clipping issue? By Clipping that is the force field if you will that stops you from moving through a mesh like a wall or a table. Gives solidity to objects that are supposed to be solid. When objects are placed together it can create weird clipping zones or effects. Or they made a rock formation for places like that area I refered to above that has this attached to it. Then, used that formation out in the otherwise open gameworld. Either way, it could be patched out if they are in areas that would be much better to go over rather than under. I did a quick search in our mod section but did not see one that removes these so I could find out how it was done.

Actually I know of one exactly.
Just north of prim.
Go south from the powder ganger camp stay along the right cliffs, just before the bridge outside prim climb up the right side a bit the follow the wall towards prim. You should be about 80-120 feet from the concrete rail along the road goin under prim.
The rocks should jut out towards the road. Keep hugging the wall and you'll just stop.
If that doesn't suit you The legion camp just east of searchlight has a resort south of it.
Just east their is a fire cave or something (not on now dont remember name.) go out top (hidden area) kill golden geckos, go left up rocks, almost like your tryin to climb straight up cliff, follow it till you stop.

It might be clipping, it has the same effect as the walls of a house, but you can see as if their is nothing there, just like you had hit the border of the map.
Thats a lot of patching if it is a clipping issue.
