Its Hard to Play Skyrim

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:59 pm

Its very hard for me to play Skyrim nowadays. I just find it difficult to want to build, or continue playing and putting such an effort into defining a character, who they are, what they do ect, when I know, at some point they will probably become unplayable due to the progressively expanding memory file ( Yup PS3… you guessed it folks ). Now please, before I get any of the comments from those PC elite type of people saying "That's what you get for buying a game that's intended for the PC, piss off. And something like this svcks because I'm a huge TES fan, started with Morrowind, been going ever since. No its not as long as the people who started with the first or second, but I was too young when those came out and I don't have a solid PC to play them now. Anyway, I want to know, do any others feel this way? I'm still going to play the game, but I don't want to get too into each character just because I'm guessing I will just be really pissed when the memory becomes to large and begins to lag heavily ect. And if anyone knows of any comments about this SPECIFIC issue for the PS3 let me know. I'm guessing if this problem falls into the chatagory of fixes Beth said they would make come January ( I forgot what the two types of fixes there were ). I'm not mad at Beth for this issue, I understand F* ups can happen. And I'm willing to completely not care that it ever existed provided they fixc it. Skyrim is currently my favorite game, as have the last two TES games games have been before they launched the new one. I don't intend to get a flame war or trolling going so please, if you have a helpful post to make, or understand where I'm coming from, post away! Thanks.

If you really think of this as "effort", it's time to find something else to do.

do one charector at a time, erase ur other saves and auto-saves, other than that ur PS3 ram is very wonky as far as hoarding and saving temporary data hence once its get to big its all the temporary data thats slowing ur system game. but other than that read the signature.

I'm sorry, but PC is simply better. Use to play Bethesda games on PS3 too then switched over to PC, it was BEYOND worth it I'd say and perhaps the best decision I've made with these kind of games up to date!

You don't have to be a PC Elitist to know that the game was designed for the Xbox 360, ported over to the PC, and attempted to port over to the PS3. But we all know that Sony uses some hard to understand, obscure operating system and file system. I don't blame Bethesda, multi-platform games usually just work the worst on PS3.

Another slap to the face by Bethesda. I can't say I'm surprised. There wasn't any mention of quest fixes there.

No, I don't feel this way. Mainly because I haven't got any problems at all with the PS3 version of the game.

Have you experienced these problems before or are you just listening to rumors?

Yup. I don't know about being designed for the 360. It's possible that some intensive features that COULD have worked on PC were left out to accomodate consoles, but I think it's a fair bet that development was PC based (most difficult due to differing HW, though less so than it used to be in the days of DOS) and ported to 360 and PS3. But, you're right, the PS3 thing is not unique to Skyrim. PS3 has a long history (back to PS2 as well) of wonky non-natives.

I've never had any problems, the biggest save file I had was 12 mb's so I guess thats kinda big and it had no problems...
what I did was disable autosave, disable internet connection, and when a new patch comes out I erase the old patch and do a clean install of the new patch
maybe try some of those it's what I do and I have had no problems

Edit: these "pc is better" comments really arent needed, we all know it runs better on other platforms no need to keep repeating it...its helping no one

I'd have to disagree, this game was streamlined but do you have any idea how much a pain in the ass it is to play with only 2 hotkeys lolz

You lost me sorry? Disagree its an XBOX game or that it's sony's fault? If Sony I don't really think that either.

Stoopid troll is stoopid.

I'm not sure if you read any of that, but I'm fairly certain I explained how Skyrim is my favorite game and it is awesome beyond all reason. So with that being said, I'll say it again in the event you're just plain dumb or skipped through the entire thing. Skyrim is my favorite game and will most likely. stay that way until Beth releases their next game being on a new series of consoles. THAT specific issue is in my opinionthe only thing wrong with this game. Honestly, everything else is fine, aside from removal of spellmaking, to me. I don't care about the fact that you can get 100 smithing and equate to a god within 5 hours ( why anyone would do this is beyond me ). Anyway, I advise you to read through an entire post before exercising your troll like opinion.

I disagree with the idea that PC users and PS3 users got the port compared to Xbox players from your previous post. I mean sure, most of the Ps3 players have the lag issues but there are some Xbox users experiencing this exact same thing too. And I believe the PC users get 8hotkeys? on the xbox, you only get 2 and its insane considering there are 4 directional arrows.

All the platforms have bugs some worse than others, but the UI was designed for consoles, getting 8 hotkeys might seem nice to a console user but consider we have over a hundred possible keys to play with and just got a console UI with 6 extra keys enabled, also the mouse works when it feels like, rebinding keys is bad oh and it works a lot better on the PC with an XBOX controller. XBOX was their main platform and focus.

I don't begrudge console users that or blame them for the PC problems it's just the way it is. I also love the game (Top 10) and touch wood have avoided the game breakers so far.

I know it's mean, but the game IS intended for the PC, whether Bethesda wants it to be or not, and your problem has less to do with the game itself than the failure of the PS3 to overwrite its memory files.

They have already stated somewhere that the bigger quest fixes would be coming in January. 1.3 was just some minor stuff....... http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1308292-13-update/ for PS3

Go and play something else for a while. You're not paying a monthly fee, you can always go back to the game when you feel like it. ;)

The up arrow is used for Favourites, but Oblivion used 8 hotkeys (diagonals counted), I dont see why we can't have 7 hotkeys considering the others aren't being used for anything else
