Johnny Guitar? Really?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:04 pm

I take a sort of twisted pleasure in knowing that tens of thousands of people around the world are subjected to the semi-yodeling redneck in "Goin' Under'." It's just too unfortunate that I am one of them. In any case, I agree regarding Johnny Guitar; it seems like all Mr. New Vegas says is "I love you all, you're so beautiful, here's some Johnny Guitar."

I like the song so much I actually named the song after myself for my avatar. Tough noogies for you I guess.

It has a rural, old desert/cowboy feel to it, I never tire of it.

The only song I laugh at constantly is the one where you hear the guy sing, "And you'll say, I love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" Now that song is nasty.

I like all the songs, but I'm not picky. I always end up singing along to them, but they still don't have the feel of the fo3 songs, but I have a mod for more tunes so that helps.

It is, Its just glitched so it don't play.

Orange Colored Sky is not in the game. It was used in an ad for FNV, but is not present in the game files.

The only glitch with the game music is that Stars of the Midnight Range was intended to play on all three major stations (Radio New Vegas, Mojave Music Radio, and Black Mountain Radio) but it appears that someone accidentally pointed the link in the playlist of Radio New Vegas to the MP3 file for Big Iron. So Big Iron plays twice as often on Radio New Vegas, and Stars of the Midnight Range plays only on Mojave Music Radio and Black Mountain Radio.

As for music that is like the music in the game, I think this compilation from Amazon MP3 is a really nice set of 30's, 40's and 50's novelty songs, including Civilization (Bongo, Bongo, Bongo) from Fallout 3, and Orange Colored Sky, and a bunch of other great stuff. 60 songs for $9. It's a steal!

There are some other good oldies collections on Amazon MP3; poke around and search for "Oldies".

Apprently johnny guitar is a decent film though... I just had a look at the soundtrack, didn't expect much since it's set in vegas which would probably equate to crappy showtunes, but there are a few show tunes which are somewhat enjoyable like louis prima, kay starr, some ratpack and nat king cole stuff, but they probably can't get the license for that good stuff

it certainly doesn't have the charsima of the choices from fallout 3

actually, i really hope in the next game they feature some early blues/ race record artist like harlem hamfats or leadbelly ... lots of potential for awsomefullness there

I don't mind it, it's just that the minimum acceptable # of songs that should have been put in is 40. Then the blasted song wouldn't show up so often in the play list.

Fortunately, there are radio mods... which I installed last night so that RNV has more songs to play.

(Note to Obsidian: Spend a few extra bucks next time on getting more songs for the track list.)

Eh, I'm not a big fan of the song but I don't go out of my way not to listen to it. To be honest the song choice of this game was pretty bad. There are only a few good songs but I much prefer FO3's radio stations and music.

I wish 'My spurs jingle jangle' would come on the radio more frquently. :/

Yeah this is one of my favorite songs from the radio. Johnny Guitar isn't too bad but I don't really like it.

While the music doesn't sit as well with me as the ones in FO3, it's okay. The main problem for me is that there's too little music and a lot of radios playing. The music is too repetitive. I wish there was a way to add music to the radio play lists on the PS3. Like in FO3, I listen to the radio for the announcements. One thing I noticed is that your alignment title doesn't get announced like in FO3. At least your accomplishments do, though. Still seems like less than in FO3.

Idk what's the fanatic of clinging on to the 50's. If Bombs fell today, we wouldn't go back to that sh**. Avenged Sevenfold all the way baby!!!! lol I would be a raider I guess.

Correction, you would be an asshat. On another note, I dont think Avenged Sevenfold has any vinyl records

The radio playlist for New Vegas seems somewhat lacking as compared to Fallout 3 but seriously, Johnny Guitar is the worst song ever. The music is horrible, the lyrics are idiotic, and it seems to play after almost every other song.

If my wife or I are playing and that song comes on we both say, "Ah, it's that horrible song again!" even if one of us is in another room. We even go out of our way to turn of radios/jukeboxes whenever that song comes on.

Anyone else hate this song or is it just me?

-JJ

i dont know who programmed the randomizer from Obsidion, but it does not work well. agree that the two worst songs are played the most, johnny guitar and that other one by Emo Phillips. Jingle Jangle doesnt play enough.
also, Mr. Newvegas is dull and says the same thing over and over again. i think everyone would be pleased if they made an update or dlc that put 3dog back on as a radio signal.
i installed the FO3 soundtrack onto my xbox harddrive and play it on random instead of having the radio on.

It's in there, I think I heard it on Black Mountain Radio. Not sure if it's in the playlists of the other stations. The wiki doesn't list it, but I know I heard it playing.
