Joystiq Video About Dawnguard.

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:55 am

Good stuff, Todd's always good in interviews for some reason.

I mostly like hearing about his views from a business perspective, Skyrim has faults, and some of the directional choices of the Elder Scrolls series I don't, and probably will never agree with as a gamer with his own preferences, but the idea of supporting a single-player game with free content in addition to paid content, without something as insulting as an Online Pass (LolEA) to make it seem like a grudging obligation rather than a reward to the people is something I hope sticks around.

The video did seem like it was cut and edited by a dead otter.

Joystiq.com just posted this video with Todd Howard.

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/06/bethesdas-todd-howard-on-dawnguard-the-future-of-skyrim-and-s/

Why yes, Todd. I want more content with dragons. I love dragons but I don't play vampires or werewolves or TG or DB so bring on more with dragons! More content with chances to play the good and noble archetype and options for no-kill quest resolution would be great too. Great interview; got a lot out of it. Thanks! :tes:

14 million mod downloads on Steam Workshop? I know mods are popular, but good lord!
Well, I'm currently running a dozen of MODs, tried about a hundred... there are some heavy MOD users out there who are running several dozens of mod and probably tried many hundreds... I would have expected a bigger figure, considering that the number of owners of Skyrim for PC should be in excess of 1 million

It's also not the only place to get mods from. The Nexus is very popular and may have more mods downloaded than Steam Workshop.

Good point. MOD enthusiast usually prefer the Nexus over Steam Workshop.

My understanding is it's well over 2m boxed retail PC copies sold and who knows how many digital copies, perhaps another 1 or 2 million?

I suppose 14 million downloads makes sense when you factor in the folks with hundreds of mods. In my case, I subscribe to a larger number of mods than what I actually use, as a way to help friends to test the mods they are working on, etc.

Definitely yes ! And I think that even existing quests should be provided with new, less violent endings. I am sad that it is not even possible to use the delay offered by illusion spells to convince people to surrender. And I find it lame, to, that sparing someone always leads in him or her to start fighting again 30 seconds later...

:lmao: Yeah, I made the mistake of trusting a bandit who said "I yield, I surrender!" during my first playthrough.

Definitely worth watching! Todd made it seem like the majority of the stuff in game jam would be released eventually.

Yeah, no real new info, but some great insight on their stance towards DLC. He was pretty frank about people buying any old crap when it comes to DLC.

Case study: Horse armour

I can visualize a little caption bubble over his head with "horse armor" in it when he was saying that part. :)

Meh! Dragons got the spotlight on the main quest. Moar werewolves! Thanks Todd for vampires! :tes:
