Is it just me or does every single Skyrim player have a stuc

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:27 am

I have:

Strange Amulet
Gallus's Encoded Journal
Attunement Sphere (2)
Finn's Lute
Rjorn's Drum
Runed Lexicon

as fixed quest items. Now if I start a new game with all of Skyrim's latest patches will these continue to be stuck in the inventory?

I also have:

Collect Bounty from Skald (3) - quest won't update
Find Pantea's Flute - found Pantea's flute before getting her quest, handed over the quest item, quest item removed, misc still stuck
Kill the leader of Uttering Hills Camp - cleared the dungeon before getting the quest, quest marker pointing to ground with no one to kill.
Ask Aldis for information about Angeline's daughter - killed all the imperials, quest marker pointing to ground
Speak to Verulus about the hall of the dead - stuck misc quest, haven't updated.
Visit the College of Winterhold - use persuassion to bypass magic tutorial, misc quest haven't updated.

as stuck misc quests that can never be completed.

So I gotta assume people playing on the 360/ps3 will have most or some of these stuck items/misc no matter if you reload a new game and play a new story?

I'm pretty sure the instruments no longer are stuck in the inventory.

Have they fixed "Blood on the Ice"?

I cleared that one hideout "before I was supposed to", and thus cannot acquire the Riften house on one of my characters.

The only quest item I am stuck with are from quests I know I haven't finished.

Like Grimsever, I really don't want to bring it back, I like having an enchanted glass sword that I can hide in a pocket dimension or something so it doesn't weight anything and I can smuggle it trough places it wouldn't be even possible...

This one at least was fixed in my game on PC, I had the quest and forgot about it and started the battle of Solitude for the Stormcloaks - immediately got a "quest failed" on talking to Aldis.

I also have Finn's Lute and haven't started the Bard's College stuff yet, so I hope that one was fixed as well.

I have a stack of Talos Amulets that I can't drop for some reason. The only relevant quest I'm aware of is that thalmor one in Markarth, though I haven't taken that one. I'm not sure why it's treating them as quest items already, considering how common they are and the quest amulet belongs to a specific person.

There's also one you'll need for a small quest in Solitude ;) belongs to the guy who was executed when you arrived.

There is a glitched Amulet quest in Solitude as well. :ninja: 'ed.

Esbern is by far the biggest culprit for me, with Skald a close second.

That's probably it then. The first thing I dead when his head hit the block was run up and take all his clothes.

Who do I need to talk to so I can get rid of these things?

Unfortunately you may well be stuck with them. Known bug, no idea if it's patched yet.

I took that amulet in Solitude immediately after the execution as well. Followed through on the whole quest, the recipient even took it back from me (it's no longer in my inventory) after we talked. However the quest never updated in my journal, and I still have a line directing me to talk to her. I'm going to try talking to her again but I will need to pick up another amulet first because if it works I don't want her taking mine. If it doesn't work, I'm hoping I can advance it to "completed" status with the console but I haven't checked on that yet.

This is a problem in most of Bethesda's recent games(FO3/FONV included). I have said on many occasions that instead of quest items you should just get a little pop up when you try to drop or sell an important item that says something like, ''this item may be required for a later quest, are you sure?''. Simples *squeak*.

I too have quite a few quest items, spread across a few characters. Attunement spheres, Gallus' journal and so on. Oblivion was far worse though - my Oblivion character has lots of notes and misc. items.
I found Pantea's flute in the same cave that I was sent to for 'Onmunds Request', and returned it to her with no problems. Perhaps the same thing could happen with Rjorn's drum?
I'd keep that amulet, too. It's actually the Necromancer's Amulet of Mannimarco - it's a very old and powerful artifact ;)

That's actually a very good thing to pick up. Take it back to near where you found it and read some of the notes left behind and it should become clear what to do with it for a very nice reward...

(vague to avoid spoilers given this is General)

Yups, I got the strange amulet, and I also had the Talos amulet from the quest in Solitude which got glued to another regular Talos amulet. I consoled the latter already, but I still have to deal with the strange amulet. I didn't have any trouble with the Talos amulet from Markarth, but maybe that's because I 'finished' the quest via the 'hidden' way (aka. not how it's asked of you in the game), heh heh heh.

I try my best to stay clear of the instrument quests from the Bards' College and other bugged items/quests 'though.
