nah bruh bruh.... not for the elder scrolls. They pride themselves on not using cutscenes. Cut scenes are an extremely unnatural way to tell a story. Why use a cutscene if its goingt ohave different graphics from the rest of the game... no need to leave the game world so a cut scene can start.... i don't go into cut scenes in real life you know? Bethesda tries to keep the experience as organic as possibel which means... no cutscenes and thats just how i love it. I think cutscenes would really ruin it for me... especially with the amount of quest i pick up...i don't need that many cutscenes and also in cutscenes ther eare uncontrollable actions... I don't want to take actions that i did not choose to take.

It also does not need quick time events like "Quickly smash buttons to dodge the bullets!". And it also doesn't need carriages with armed turrets. Stuff like that might be "cool" but it certainly is not needed and usually does more harm than good.

I don't really think a game like Skyrim needs them.

Phew, well I'm glad to see so many against cinematics. Next thing you notice someone is going to ask for those cinematic scenes where it tells you to push a certain button for the character to make it through the obstacle. Ugh! NO NO NO NO N O!

I feel dirty now, gonna go shower.

What. A massive attack on the... you know... and the thing with... you know who. That was pretty epic.

I don't know what people expect, sheesh.
Oh it was really metal from a visual perspective, sure. But playing, ehhh, I don't know, it didn't knock me out of the park.

First person cinematic sequences where you still have some control over the character are ok.. Anything else usually breaks the immersion that I'm feeling by forcing me into the view of some spirit or someone who can magically see everything everywhere.

i like it when the cinematics unfold around the player, similar to a valve game. When story events occured in front of you in skyrim while you could move, it was very impressive most of the time

Well, the OP's half right: Skyrim is missing one big, important thing, but it's not cinematics. No, what's missing is quality writing.

QFT. I really REALLY dislike cinematic crap in a game. If I want a movie I'll watch a movie thanks. It does NOT add to the game in any way for me.

Agreed. In WoW, with the last expansion, you couldn't advance a quest three steps without relinquishing control to yet another cine.

...is it...?
Why don't you apply for a job as a writer with Bethesda then?

I'm not a big fan of cinematics/cut scenes myself but I have to admit that they are effective in the right games. They seem to suit linear games like MGS/Final Fantasy and even Nintendo manages to pull them off well in games like Zelda/Starfox, etc. with their unique 'voice effects' for the characters.

However I can't see how they would improve Skyrim as it would just highlight the fact that your character has no voice and I can see them eventually linearising the series (which would be a disaster for TES). In the end they would just likely draw more criticism from the TES fanbase.

You know I would've like to have seen Ulfric challenging and then get to see the full fight with the high king in cinematic mode.. Remember thehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekb5l4Iozcw? That was badass. I don't know why anyone would have such problem with it.
I think i just pooped a brick of concentrated awesome

You refer to the plot holes? Perhaps, but really what this game lacks is fishing!

From my perspective, cinematics, if well thought out / written & rendered , could work well to improve the backstories behind some of the more major quests within the game. The game is lacking depth in several ways, and while the modus operandi in RPGS is meant for you to go out and live your own adventure, a rewarding part is in the discovery of meeting people/ characters that have their own stories. Skyrim seems to have some better writing going on for the likes of Ulfric, Tullius, but they are fleeting, and unfortunately repeat themselves an awful lot. FI Ulfric and his #1 have the same discussions going on every time you traipse into their court, same with most of the Jarls. A bit more imagination and variety of their character presentations would be greatly welcomed.

Instead we have the finishing moves, which are sort of mini-cinematics. They're fun the first 20 times or so, but get really old, especially when it takes a second to figure out whether it's because I just killed something or got killed by it....
