It depends. This game depicts olden days while BF3 depicts warfare. You cant compare graphics for the two. I like the graphics in both and find them to be pretty good.

Uh, are you new to video games? Action titles always have better graphics than RPGs, usually because action games only have to focus on immediate surroundings and a controlled experience they can narrow down and polish. RPGs require a lot more work with such vast terrain and choice. Only in the last 7 years or so have RPGs finally started to approach the quality of graphic and sound that once only could be found in action titles.
Skyrim is a good step in this evolution.

One done by Dice then release by EA and other done by Beth and release by Beth.
One concerns modern warfare the other medieval warfare.
If you concern about the graphics of this game, this game is not for you.
Skyrim is 6 GB and what Battlefield3 is 10GB. (Correct me if I am wrong.)

To the OP: The Frostbite engine is more powerful than the Creation engine but I doubt that FB can do the same quality visuals in the scale of TES sandbox game. There's no such thing as a free lunch. The reason why BF3/Crysis 2 looks nice is because they had to cut something somewhere else.

Skyrim was also made for consoles. Consoles are years behind todays PC's. So quality go's dooooown.

True. Skyrim was developed along console limitations then ported to PC.
Battlefield 3 was developed with the PC in mind then scaled down for consoles.

What would this be?

The massive open world. Does BF3 have one giant size map to roam without cut scenes to setup the next level/instance?

Even though BF3 has large maps, they don't have as much content in them.
You can't just start a full on discussion with random NPCs, there isint as much lootables, ect.

The more there is, the less appealing the graphics are.
Give it 5-10 more years, RPGs will have either equal or better graphics than the current FPS.

Something to keep in mind, seeing as how you mentioned a cyber cafe.

The PC version of BF3 was built from the ground up around the PC and DX10/11. It was built to take advantage of it's improved efficiencies as well as better lighting, shadows, tesselation, etc.

Skyrim was built from the ground up around a 6 year old console and DX9. The PC version is very innefficient and received minimal improvements over the console versions.

not nearly as big as any RPG title maps. they may be big but its still far easier to coup with then an RPG would be. RPG's are open world and Shooters are focused on one general area.

Obviously in BF3 the graphics and effects have had a higher priority. In TES games there's so much other/more important content so priorities have been put elsewhere.

Skyrim could look as good as BF3 if:
- Better multi-core support was added (more than 2 cores)
- Latest DirectX11 effects support was added
- Higher resolution textures were added (mods do this, and more than 2GB of memory is now supported with the LAA flag)

But I'm glad Skyrim doesn't have the horrible lens flare and blue screen effect.

Different game engines and different priorities. BF3 went with graphics but the core game svcks ass compared to any other BF game before it.
Skyrim is by far the better game overall and compared to most RPGs Skyrim has amazing graphics throughout.

Actually, for the most part, I might say the same for Skyrim.

And no, Skyrim does not have amazing graphics. It's graphics are nothing remarkable. What it does have, though, is amazing art and aesthetics. They're not the same thing.

I got to colonel. Got all the weapons, weapons upgrades for my class (engineer) and land vehicle upgrades. Got the MVP medal and dog tag, 8 armored warfare medals, 244 armored warfare ribbons. All in the first couple weeks. Never played again. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/soldier/Occlusion_Culler/stats/305221867/pc/

Yet, I still play this game.

Believe it or not, but unless you are willing to pay 10 grand for a system to run skyrim looking like battlefield, that wont happen. There is alot more in RPGs than FPS, im not saying RPGs are better I play everything, have been playing alot of BF3. ALSO you can get mods that make skyrim look amazing. I only have a couple cause I seem to crash when I have to many.
