Killed Belethor, regret it

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 9:29 am

Okay, I'm sorry. He'd been getting to me and I lost my cool. I axed Belethor in the back and now I can't use his store. I regret it now.

Is there any way to bring him back, or make the store useable again?

SIDE NOTE: He has a casket in the Whiterun catacombs. Does this happen to any other NPCs? Is there a point to it?

Go back to an earlier save. I'm imagining you're asking the question because you play on XBOX or PS3 and can't use console commands to spawn a new Belethor.

Eventually someone else takes over the store and runs it for them. Just keep playing and learn to live with your choices?

The first thing I do, every play through, is to kill the guy in Whiterun who won't shut up about WORKING for Belethor. I never regret it.

I think Ysolda becomes the merchant after Belethor's death. Don't know how much time has to pass for that to happen, though.
If nothing, just reload.
And do kill http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Sigurd, yes.

If you haven't married Ysolda, she will take over the store in a few game weeks.

Farengar Secret-Fire gets a burial urn somewhere. Maybe this is reserved for possibly-annoying NPCs.

Have you come to dishgush the ongoing hoshtillities, like the other great warriors?

He always reminds me of Sean Connery.

Yeah, I married Ysolda. It was pretty sweet having her and Belethor as traders, as Belethor carries such a low amount of cash. Damnit, Sigurd, Y U NO TAKEOVER SHOP?!

Jeffredo, I am playing on PC. I'm trying to not use console commands.

You're not using console commands so this maybe irrelevant, but as I understand it if you resurrect NPCs with commands they are only present graphically. They don't go back to their full utility (ie won't run their shops and won't give quests).

Do we have to avoid the cell/zone because she hasn't taken over yet and I'm sure it's been a few game weeks? Also, she doesn't 'man' the shop, right? She just carries the inventory, right? In the game in which I killed Belethor I have the Fences so it's not that big of a tragedy. :P

Thanks Buckom, that's good to know. Damn. (THIEVES GUILD MAYBE SPOILER...) "Dampened Spirits" is bugged and I couldn't play it, so I had to use the console to skip it in order to progress through the Theives Guild Quest, so I don't get the fence in Whiterun.

Don't forget that there is a perk in the speechcraft tree where you can get vendors to carry more money.

If you could it will just mean ten more new threads will spawn to complain about your action having no impact.

In any case, the Merchant perk is all you need to get hassle-free trading.

You could set the proper stage for the quest if I'm not mistaken, but I'm not a PC gamer, so don't take my word for everything.

I don't know if I'd have the patience to see if Ysolda ever takes over the general store, as Whiterun is my routine stopover place.

"If I had a sister, I'd sell her, too!"

Even the guards comment on him, lol.

If he sounds like Sean Connery to you, you must be tone-deaf.

That reminds me of an episode of "M*A*S*H" where Radar essays an impersonation in front of Frank Burns:

Radar: "Ya better believe it, pilgrim, or yer dead where ya stand."

Burns: "Who was that supposed to be?"

Radar (sheepishly): "John Wayne."

Burns (incredulous): "John Wayne?! He doesn't sound anything like you!"

Fargoth award?

P.S. Dragon hit Riften last night. Nura Snow-Shod, Ungrien, and Madesi all died. I'm going to miss Madesi, he was a big help. Combined with the theives the guards have killed, the Riften market is littered with bodies.

I accidently killed him during my rampage when you become a werewolf. I was wondering where he was when I woke up and went back to Whiterun to sell some stuff and as I'm walking towards Jorrvaskr, I saw Belethor's body with people around it. I laughed and then robbed his corpse

When I turned into a werewolf for the first time during the companions saga I purposely attacked and killed that annoying worm Idolaf Battle-Born. He walks around praising the imperials and when you side up with the gray-manes he starts talking his [censored]. Glad I killed him. Jon is next on my list to kill since he knows I'm on the side of the Gray-manes and he keeps calling me a milk drinker.
