2 full threads wasn't enough ROFL. Well gotta give props to Bethesda, they wanted publicity, and they are getting it.

there are quite a lot of good kinect games for people that enjoy those particular type of games. i played one of the dance games at a party i hosted and it was some serious fun times, lol. sounds like meffect has some supporters. the sports and dance games, whatever. many like them, as evidenced by the sale numbers.

shoot, even forza4 has some kinect features. star wars? and, soon skyrim.

the point: advancement, creativity, implementation. more games with significant gameplay features.

Star Wars Kinect is *not* a good game btw. But please carry on.

I'm not saying motion games can not be fun, I had some fun with the Wii and PSmove back in the day. But lets remember a few things

1. Voice commands in videogames is NOTHING NEW
2. Motion in videogames is NOTHING NEW

It's just more advanced tech doing the same thing we did years ago.

Mass Effect 3,

I said name a *good* game. :bunny:

some of the sports/fitness games are good. some of the dance games are good. some of the games geared towards kids are good.

skyrim's will be good.

future games will hopefully be even better.

edit: and, i've heard some real good things from a few people about that eden game.

Been a while since I've been on here, since I've been busy actually playing Skyrim :P but here's my two cents...some people will enjoy this new feature, some won't. I like it and will use it. Others hate it and won't use it, and that's cool too. Choice is always good since you have the option to turn off Kinect voice commands in the menu. Arguing about liking or hating this, it still doesn't change the fact that it's coming out. But it's free and toggleable so that doesn't seem so bad to me.

absolutely.

plus, there is gameplay altering stuff in the video. not just voice commands or convenience aspects.

THAT is what i like to see. heck, it's what i complain about mostly in this forum anyways: functioning gameplay issues.

Actually, the downloadable arcade games are rather fun for the Kinect. They are mindless (like iPhone/Android games), but they are fun in the same way. And they work very well. I love to play them with my wife and children. The title game it came with Adventures is actually quite fun as well. Kinect Sports is pretty fun too.

absolutely. i quickly showed my family the skyrim video of kinect, lol.

my daughter loved it and the lady of the house just sort of laughed at me and said something along the lines of, "ah, so NOW you want to get a kinect, huh?"

bought a kinect for the kids a few months back. enjoyed the voice command features of Mass effect 3...mostly (didn't utilize them a ton because was just too used to radial menu after ME1 and ME2; and occasionally got annoyed when the wife would say something in the next room over and the game thought it should pick a conversation line) I'm excited for the feature. LOVE being able to sort items. Will actually order my companion around because I never bothered opening dialog to do it before. and IMMENSELY excited about being able to hotkey more things. Might not neccesarily shout at the tv, but probably occasionally when I don't want to open the Menu.

First of all, I'm assuming that these features will be added for PS3 and PC because...well, there's no reason not to.

Secondly, I really hope that we'll be able to assign more hotkeys without needing to use a microphone. Personally, I can't see myself talking/yelling at my TV while I'm playing Skyrim, but switching between items/abilities is really cumbersome at the moment.

On a side note, I wonder if motion controls through Kinect / PS Move might make TES combat feel more...existent. It's great that they're adding features to the game, and it's very exciting. I just wish it didn't make me hope that they'll revamp the combat, since it probably isn't going to happen lol.

Everything that can be done with Kinect can be done with a controller in Skyrim. Just because it might be useful because you don't have to use the controller to do certain things doesn't make it any less a gimmick.
So, in case of PCs, mice are also just a gimmick, because you could possibly just use a keyboard instead? Is the Favorite-Menu just a gimmick in Skyrim, because you could simply use the main menu?
The reason certain features are implemented, is to improve usability. That's the whole point. I would hardly call that gimmick. If the entire hotkey problem on consoles could be solved by voice recognition, that would simply be great.

Don't... you'll make TheEngravingMan's head explode... by his logic, we can take it all the way back to the invention of the wheel and force him to live in a cave, wear bearskins, and draw pictures on the wall just to be consistent.

This all does feel rather gimmicky, but shouting your "shouts" is at least a pretty cool gimmick. I definitely won't be doing it, but still. I'm not sure that anything beyond the hotkey addition is an improvement to usability. Even there, there are much better ways to improve upon a poorly designed UI than with a microphone.

I'm all for it. I mean, they're adding stuff to the game and it looks interesting. I personally won't be using it, and I really, really hope they continue to improve the game (especially from a usability standpoint) in more practical ways...but I certainly can't complain.

i think if your going to go down the 'i'm the controller' path then they need to do a total rethink on what they are trying to achieve and ditch the kinect and move and start all over again.

what i'd like to see is you are the controller and also you are the game.
it would work by having you wearing a helmet that has a 3D hd screen over each of your eyes. built in speakers on your ears. you could take this to the extreme and have small built in fans that would simulate wind and also svck up some head from the screens 3D screens and blow hot air in your face to simulate things like the heat from fire and explosions. your game could be beamed onto your tv so that friends could watch what your doing in the game as an option.

you would wear a pair of gloves that had sensors build in to detect your hand movements and a pair of sensor shoe soles that would strap onto your footwear so that the game would know what way your body was facing in relation to your head movements. again you could take this to extremes and have a body vest that would simulate getting hit or shot by something.

to me this is the only technology that i would feel that i would want to exert some energy into a game rather than sitting on a couch with a control pad in my hand or a mouse and keyboard at a desk. but the only down side is its one hell of a lot of technology to develop and it would not come cheap to buy if it ever did get invented. but until that day comes I'll stick with my control pad and sit on my couch at night waiting for this day to come in the far off future.

Well I agree with you but how does it improve it if you can't use it? What if you are sick and can't talk? Or even worse, you are playing but the Wife says SHUT-UP I am trying to sleep at 2am? LOL.

Just for the record, I'm still waiting for someone to name ONE serious game that uses Kinect fully and does it as well as a controller.

Hey, Beth. Seeing as you are doing niche market things now, how about you sort out triple monitor solutions.
Something we have been waiting on getting fixed from day one.
Having to rely on third party addons to sort it out should at least make you a tiny bit embarrassed surely?
Especially when it worked no problem in FO3 and FONV.

So, hows about it?

And maybe do something useful with the kinnect like proper independent head tracking instead of useless shouting.
You know, something actually challenging and worthwhile that people would really appreciate when it comes to admiring the beautiful world you have created.

that couldnt be closer to what i think (although some wierd VR roomlike sci-fi stuff is so fond of would be a nice substitute if it manages to come out first :teehee: )

So bethesda thought it would be cool to add Kinect support for a small minority of people, but the small minority of people that would want a survival/hardcoe mode or weapons like spears, throwing weapons and crossbows continues to get ignored.

unless you know exactly how many skyrim owners have kinect you are spouting pure speculation.

however, i do know for a fact that there are millions of skyrim and kinect owners.

this argument is invalid until you know the numbers. find another one.

though, i'm still hoping for the hardcoe, lol.
