But in the nature of this thread, I have a question for the left handed overlords.
I'm convinced our microwave is made for left handed people: the door has the handle on the right, therefore it opens to the left. I open it with my left hand mostly, and find it awkward to open it with my right. What do you think, is this an infiltrator amongst the majority of household items normally made for righties?
No, because it's more important that the buttons are on the right side, thus more easily accessible to your right hand as you're standing in front of the microwave, and since the buttons are then on the right side of the door, it would be more complicated to make the door hinges on the right side where the buttons and LCD display and, thus, various cables and whatnot are, than it would be to make them on the left side, thus making the door open to left.
edit: Also, in the case of microwave doors, opening the doors is not the most complicated task, and it's always the goal to make the most complicated task to be easier to do with your right hand. In this case, you open the door with your left hand, and reach in either to leave something in or take something out,
with your right hand.
