Letting Go

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:08 pm

So in this case of what I mean, in the DLC are 35-40 gold bars weighing 35 lbs a piece. You can only take 8 bars maximum if you make 280 lbs of spare room in your inventory. As well, there are so many cool looking and new items. My question to you is, what do you let go of? The gold or the items?

I took two gold bars.
Valued the new items more than some extra cash.

The gold - not too fussed about the decoration aspect and you can rack up a load of money anyways. Haven't played through to the end yet so if the unique stuff I find doesn't seem too useful, I might take one or two along with me (although I'm definitely going to try the workarounds that have popped up if they haven't been fixed by the time I get there - sod the theme of the DLC, I wants it all!)

Something must be wrong with me, if I had the DLC, I'd want all the gold soley for the purposes of collecting it

5000 caps for at least one bar isn't bad at all but you could make that money in the Mojave with no problems.

I reeeeeeeeeally wanted to find some glitchy way of getting all 37 bars.. but I think a small stack of 5-10 will look good in my home. No need to sell them or have so many that they seem less rare/valuable (even though I am the only one who has them in the game).

Vendatron from gun runners has 8000 caps. Still not worth it, I am weird like that, because I have 37 or 38 bars and knowing they are the only bars I will e3ver get, I can tsell them. Besides money is easy to make.

I'm such a f*cking liar.

I found a way to get all 37 of them. I put them near the door Elijah walks through before he comes in. Killed him from a distance - over by the doors you have to walk through to go all the way around after killing him - so that I could get a little extra running time. Booked it. Jumped over some stuff to save time. Once I got to the forcefield I placed them by I used the 3rd person exploit to grab them on the other side of it (Elijah also died right next to them so I got to loot his body too). I dropped them and picked them up a couple times so I could move a tiiiiny bit faster.. and I was literally mashing down on the A button as I neared the elevator as my collar was beeping at the rate of speed where you know you have about 3 seconds to live. LOMFL I made it.

I'll probably find some place to drop them one-by-one in my home.. similar to how I've collected probably 200 pieces of Pre-War Money and one-by-one dropped them over my bed, because apparently I like to sleep with money.

You know, I keep reading posts from people saying that caps are so easy to get in New Vegas, but it's NEVER been easy for me. In fact, it's a constant problem and concern for me, especially when I get to the Gun Runners. I always have to exploit merchants.

When I finally find the gold in the DLC, I'm taking every bit I can so I can sell it. Because I need caps, and I need a way to get them WITHOUT the merchant exploit and WITHOUT gambling or high Luck. (I never, ever, ever, never ever build Luck past 7, and Gambling just... svcks IMO)

Really?
Do this: Never spend caps on anything, EVER.
Works great! :D
No, really.
If you need something, trade stuff you've looted.
Don't let a single little cap go to them.
By the time you reach vegas you should have enough to get in.
That's what I do, always loot crap and sell it to merchants but never give them my own caps unless it's like 1 to 10 caps.

Yeah.. loot every person you kill for their armor, weapons, etc. that are worth more than 5-10 caps and aren't too cumbersome for your necessary inventory and you'll be good.

I've never had problems with money beyond the first hour or so of any Fallout or Elder Scrolls game, unless it's one of those times you encounter someone who randomly has a super expensive, rare item in their store for 10,000 and you're still in the 2,000 area.

Lucky you, I did a re run to get lost stuff. Somehow there hasnt been a patch update, but the glitch no longer works.

Seriously if they fixed this its messed up, I can think of things needing more attention.

My issue here is people have had far worse issues, but they fix this one ?! Hmmm I will lose some stuff bt luckily I have my character with the 35 bars, no easy weapon kits though... Or weapon mods.
Damn it obsidian, was this really so bad.
