Level to fight Krosis

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 4:47 pm

He's annoying as hell, especially for my sword and board warrior. Whenever I try to get in the range for a power attack, he backpedals away and throws like gazillion fireballs into my face- :flamethrower:

At the time I faced him I was only level 14, manged to get a rock between us and he couldn't hit me.
It took between 150 to 200 arrows to kill him.
Epic battle and at the time I initialy turned into a Werewolf just to get away fast enough, but I decided to have a go.
The Krosis mask is now my most coveted possesion as it was the hardest to aquire.
Currently I have the Spellbreaker shield and I could easily take him head on like the other Preists without taking any damage, the shield stops 50 points and his staff can only deliver 40.

i took him at level 15 (with level 16 halfway through) with a lvl 4 or 5 lydia. is was awesome. it was like tag...with fire and lightning. this was my strategy:

i had like three dozen health pots (minor and normal), and two dozen magicka pots (minor and normal). i gave up pretty quick using a bound sword + flames combo. i was wearing exquisite elven and his staff was taking noticable chunks out of me, so i switched to flames and sparks, and started dodging between rocks, blasting him full force with both attacks everytime he got close. it took me about 15-20 minutes using this strategy i think. bring a companion, they make good fireball sponges, and so long as you stay away from them, they won't die after being wounded.

Dragon Priests do not scale. They are set at level 50. Take plenty of healing potions and or spells and a few companions or the odd summond creature and you should have him beat. Tactics rather than level is the key, use the landscape, do not be afraid to beat a hasty retreat, but perhaps lower levels will still find it difficult as one hit and you are toast.

I tried at level 20 and it was ok although i did have Lydia, Meeko the dog, a Dremora from the Sanguine Rose staff, a flame atronach and a staff of summoning Frost atronachs so he really didn't have much of a chance

The level is not very important on this imo because he becomes stronger as you do. I'd suggest you achieve a bunch of magic and fire resistance before you fight him via equipment, the Agent of Mara blessing and the Lord Stone.
I shot him off the rocks with FOOOOS DO RAH! and his ice spells weren't arching properly to hit me. They harmlessly exploded against the rock face and I peppered him with arrows until he died. Hope this helps.

Oh that's nice then... I may go hunting for him tomorrow then. Currently level 5, So I'll probably bring a follower and a stolen horse.
Level 5? Let us know how that works out for you. I don't know how he is leveled exactly, but he is leveled to be a very difficult encounter if you are not a high level character. My guess is at level 5 you will get smeared all over the dragon wall.

I just beat Krosis now, without exploiting the landscape.
What level were you? I took him on in the 20s and it was a difficult fight and I also went through a TON of potions. I was playing as a mage, it was a brutal fight actually. We both went over the cliff (thanks, Lydia, for running into me.)

Once you've killed the dragon (do NOT wake up Krosis), ....
Heh. This is a key piece of advice. Krosis was the first Dragon Priest I had run into, and was not even aware of their existence in the game at that point. The dragon I was fighting landed near the tomb and I didn't even see the priest until I got probably five fireballs in the face in a quick succession and was watching my body slide down the mountainside. The second attempt, I killed the dragon, but it's corpse ended up ON the sarcophagus, and I could not see my target at all. That fight also ended in death (mine). The third try, I kept the dragon away from the wall, and then killed Krosis after a five minute battle that involved a lot of me muttering "oh crap, oh crap, oh crap" and spamming potions and running and waiting for my shout cool down to be over.

I have only run into one other one, and he did not seem as difficult as Krosis. Maybe because I knew what to expect, or maybe Krosis is riciculously over-powered.

What level would you recommend an archer character to attempt a fight with Krosis? I don't intend to do the main quest with this character, so I shouldn't have to deal with the dragon.

I blundered across Krosis at about Level 14 or 15 and managed to kill him after two or three reloads. It involved lots of kiting and taking cover to avoid his Firestorm spells. Oh, and Lydia tanking for me.

I was level 12, playing as a rougue-warrior kind of, beating him with a 1h axe (axe of whiterun, with shock damage). But as i wrote it did take me two trips to towns buying up all the supplies i could get to manage it. I bought two fire resist draughts for almost 500 gold each, and one cheaper fire resist pot for some 300g, spent like 2k on a +30% fire resist shield, and something like 1500g on health pots. So i burnt my entire savings on it basically.. :)

I beat him at less than level 10 with my Dunmer "skirmisher." (Bow, Light Armor, sword and shield)

There was a very helpful rock formation nearby I hid behind and launched arrows at him. His fireballs kept hitting the rocks in front of me and dealing minimal damage. Took a few dozen arrows and was a long protracted fight, but he just stayed at range hocking fireballs while I chipped away at him.

I then wore his mask for the rest of that play file.

Toomk out Krosis at level 16 using a combination of:

Lydia as bait :)
Whuld to get close
Lots and lots of health / fire res / stamina potions
dual weilding maces (Molag Bal mace combined with a drain mana one)
Filled soul gems to recharge maces
Did I mention lots of potions??

Had to reload a couple of times as I accidentally killed Lydia (doh!)

Yep, the pragmatic approach *is* awesome, don't let those honor-jerks tell you otherwise. When it is honorable to challenge some flying lich priest to a fair duel, I'd rather be smart than honorable.

I beat him at level 15: combined playing tag with elemental fury. With daggers you hit so fast he can't use his staff, and once it runs out, you run away, evade the firebals and run behind the wall or some rock. Either his staff runs out of charges or he runs out of hitpoints, this whole fight is just a matter of running.

If you awake Krosis while his dragon buddy is still alive you're in trouble, though.

Yeah, i made sure to take out the dragon first. Fighting them both at the same time would not have been possible at all on my level i think. :)

I beat him at level 10 on my dunmer. How you ask? It took 30 minutes and I had 50% fire resist due to my racial. Thank god he forgot how to use ice spikes.

I saved in the middle of the fight when I got him below half health and then after doing something super ballsy he one-shot me with a single ice spike. Reloaded and he continued to use his stupid fireball staff. Dragon Priests are not very intelligent it seems lol.

I purposely left Lydia at Breezehome after I saw his firebombs kill her a few times. Then I awoke him, and ran away. Sneaked back in and attempted to put in an arrow, and ran away again. Rinse and repeat. Found a saber cat corpse on the ground, so reanimated it, and he attacked Krosis for a few seconds. He followed at times and then I lured him into hitting a mammoth, which resulted in a fight that took a chunk of his health. It was just a matter of keeping at it, running away till I was hidden, sneaking back in to find where he was, and getting in an arrow (poisoned or not). By the time I finished, the hill was littered with arrows I had missed with. But he was dead, and I was not, and I had his mask and staff. Reminded me a lot of the fight with The End, in Metal Gear Solid 3. I am playing as a level 25 jack of all trades Imperial.

I've a character versed in 1H and archery. Against annoying magic users (priests, warlocks, wispmothers) I prefer to corner them so they cannot use area spells nor dodge arrows and spam hit them till they drop (with a weapon in each hand) while using a lot of health restoring potions. Some may consider this an exploit as Skyrim doesn't have penalties for using potions or any other object from the inventory during combat.

I took my first dragon priest fairly early in the game and I consider them less dangerous than draughr deathlords since the latter can use shouts, spells and pack a lot of damage in melee fights.

As I tend to wander around a lot, and make a lot of different characters and *taste* their different characteristics, I have not finished any of the quest lines yet, including the main quest.

And I had not met any dragon priest yet until last night. But last night, my twenty+ish sneaky high elf archer/conjurer, followed a letter from a friend, and finally met http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Otar_the_Mad, and discovered that he has the nasty habit of turning my summoned Atronachs against me.

So I retaliated and raised his fallen minions against him and pin cushioned him from afar as he became engaged with his minions one by one, and the info from the UESP is incorrect about his being able to penetrate sneaking, as my sneaky character could avoid his gaze for the entire battle, as I raised his minions around.

But he had a keen sight and it was harder than the average bosses to avoid him.

His mask is very nice and raises all the elemental magic resistances quite a lot, and can be really helpful against other dragon priests, including Krosis.

In fact he is fixed at Level 50 I do believe
