Level to fight Krosis

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 1:59 pm

What level would you recommend an archer character to attempt a fight with Krosis? I don't intend to do the main quest with this character, so I shouldn't have to deal with the dragon.

I took him on at lvl 19, however I had help due to the random thief/hunter encounter so the hunter took a bunch of hits intended for me while I unloaded on him with my arrows ;).

The level is not very important on this imo because he becomes stronger as you do. I'd suggest you achieve a bunch of magic and fire resistance before you fight him via equipment, the Agent of Mara blessing and the Lord Stone.

Oh that's nice then... I may go hunting for him tomorrow then. Currently level 5, So I'll probably bring a follower and a stolen horse.

"Tactic: Many areas where you fight the Priests will contain ledges, cliffs, and rocks which can be used as cover to snipe them from a distance with bows. They will retaliate with long ranged spells but will more than often hit the terrain. This tactic can be used to beat Priests at amazingly low levels. "

I'm going to try this.

Level 5 could be a little low though ^^

I suggest you bring a bunch of pots too, because assuming you get only the Lords Stone and Agent of Mara you have 40% magic resistance. His staff does 40 fire damage in AoE which means you'd still get about 24 fire damage, not to mention the burning effect afterwards. I don't know if you're a Dunmer but it'd definitely help since they have 50% fire resistance as racial ability.

I did it at level 12, but he was insanely difficult. Level 20+ he becomes average. 30+ he becomes trivial.

Yup, thats because he and you get more health (at least if you take it on lvl up) but his damage is fixed as are the charges of his staff. But if you can achieve just 50% magic resistance at low lvl you have practically doubled your health against his fireball staff. With the help of 50% fire resistance (if you're a Dunmer for example) you can last 4 times as long, because you'd only take 10 fire damage as opposed to 40. Magic resistance is taken into account before your elemental resistance so it's 40FireDmg-50%MagRes=20FireDmg and after that 20FireDmg-50%FireRes=10FireDmg

I'm sure I beat him, but I can't remember. Was he the one near the Ritual Stone? Or near a word wall?

I remember Lydia forced him over a cliff, I had to run after them. Ended up at the bottom of the cliff and had to run around to the top again. When I got back up. He was gone.

Win.

I actually tried beating him last night with my new character and failed miserably. I am level 12, and although i bought all the fire resistance stuff and all the health pots i could get from whiterun i didnt even get close. I had 45% fire resistance and a lot of health pots, but it just wasnt enough. I'm gonna try again tonight, i think i will be able to beat him if i manage to crank my resist up to 60% or higher. I am playing a rogue type character at the moment, bringing a low level Lydia. He kills Lydia in a few hits and then burns my health a lot faster than i can burn his.

On my last character i beat him very easily when i was around level 20 with a mage. I was just using the impact perk to stunlock him. Regarding his level i can at least say that i tried to use a "bane of the undead scroll" that supposedly works up to level 30, but i got a message say he was too high level for that.

Worked for me. Feandal took a few shots but it was a pretty boring fight once he get stuck on the ledge.

I'll give that a shot and Hope I have enough arrows. a 20% increase to alchemy and archery would be awesome at such a low level.

- % based resistances are broken as of 1.2. the only type of resistance working at the moment is Atronach Stone and the Alteration Perk.
- I am fairly sure Dragon priests are never leveled but will always have their max level. I killed him as a level 1 Char (tbh a couple of conjured Draemora Lords killed him while I ran and hid) and his health bar barely depleted per hit.
- Bring Marcurio (found in the Bee and Barb in Riften) and give him tons of Health and Mana Potions. At lower levels he offers the best damage and HP Pool compared to other followers.
- Get the "Become Ethereal" Shout e.g. from Ironbind Barrow

A lot of good and detailled strategies can be found here:

Get him to back off the edge of the cliff and its easy picking from there. He cant aim up for some reason. I was fighting him and he was giving me troubles, I thought I killed him when he went off the edge. I just was amazed that he did back off the edge and fell over, made killing him alot easier than it was going.

I just beat Krosis now, without exploiting the landscape.

I bought a +30% fire resist shield for a total of 75% fire resist with potions, and eventually managed to beat him down with my axe. I spent a ton of health potions though and gained 3 skill levels in one handed on it. But it worked at least, although i did spend about 5000 gold (all the gold i had saved up so far) in buying the shield, fire resist pots, health pots etc etc.

Once you've killed the dragon (do NOT wake up Krosis), just play merry go round with him around the word wall. Shoot, run, shoot, run. If you're having trouble, run and hide until he loses aggro, then shoot again. Always strive to keep the wall between the two of you whenever possible. Use as many poisons as you can spare - they don't get much harder than named Dragon Priests.

I killed Rahgot at level 13 with a Supple Nord Bow and Iron Arrows, it took 45 minutes of shoot, hide, wait until he un-aggro'd. Krosis was easy by comparison after that, with a few equipment upgrades.

KROSIS

That guy was just designed to be hard...especially because he is floating while unleashing those fire bombs. even when you get close he floats away.

If you summon an atronach he turns the Atronach against you...

Krosis is just hard...

I just lured him to the giant camp below the cliffs. Krosis hit the giants with his firestaff and that was his fate.
I shot him with couple of arrows but the giant did most of the work. The mammoth was helping me also.
