Level 82?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 12:21 am

I think it svcks really. I'm at level 54 and had to make a list of what perks I definately want to have before I hit 81. had I known that earlier I would have been more selective with my perks.
Well tbh that is kind of part of the fun of this system right? One of the few things I like about Skyrim's system is the finality of your choices. Its is quite difficult to make a super character though.

Ok so i had the random thought, that maybe after you hit level 81 ( which eff tryin to get that legitimately) why not get a huge bounty and serve the time in jail and after your skills drop work them back up then maybe you might be able to level up past 81.... eventually.
This worked in OB because you could lose whole skill points. But in Skyrim it just drops your progress.

Well you also still get the 10 points per level to add for your base stats.

True that. However, at lvl 50 there are very few things in the world that can hit you for much anyway if you have have reached the armour cap (which most will) so what use is the extra HP anyway? Spells cost less than nothing magicka wise so what use is the extra magicka? And you're 1 or 2 hitting most things so what use is the extra stamina?

when i look at the fact it will give me 80 perks and 800 points to place into health, magicka and stamina, that eases my ocd somewhat.
But it's not divisible by 3, so you can't evenly distribute between mana/HP/stamina!

0 cost casting makes mana obsolete
Vegetable soup makes stamina obsolete
there is no 100% damage reduction though, so HP has some purpose.

Way to not understand what you're reading...

You did notice the phrase "soft cap" right? Since the soft cap is 50 and not 1 I think you should be able to figure it out now.

There is no soft cap. The formula for how many skill increases it takes per level remains the same all the way up.
from wiki:
Spoiler

Level XP
The formula for character leveling is as follows:
Character XP gained = Skill level acquired
Example: Training alchemy from 20 to 21 gives 21 Character XP points
XP required to level up your character = Current level * 25 + 75
Example: 100 XP is required to advance from level 1 to level 2, and 1300 XP is required to advance from level 49 to 50. This is consistent across all levels. (70→71 follows the same formula as 3→4)

That is also not the point. The point is, you can get to 81 but everything else stops levelling when you hit 50. That is what a soft cap means.

I dont think that is a valid definition as most people dont use it that way.

That doesnt bother me so much. If i wanted to make a character who had even distribution i'd get it to 400/400/300 with the 300 on the less useful stat. or even 400/350/350 with the 400 on the most useful one

Levels do not really matter.

-Enemies stop scaling at 50.
-Your Skills cap out at 100 naturally
-Itemization caps out at Daedric (in most cases)
-Enchants have a cap.
-Perk point investment as pertains to your character really "ends" earlier than 50. You can still get Perks, but they start to just not matter.

For all intents and purposes, I find that progression effectively stops around 25 and difficulty starts to plummet rapidly. This is especially true if you invest in crafting professions.
