Light Soldiers

soldiers get more grenades, not unlimited, and i sincerely hope there will never be a soldier using all his pips to restock on grenades. there's more important stuff than chucking grenades all the time. like getting that engineer to the objective

You already have unlimited grenades, but there is like a 20-30 sec cooldown on the use. And actually, a soldier speccing out in grenades, might be useful depending on the situations.

Soldier is still used to pass out more ammo and blow up objectives

I guess especially the latter will be a good task for light soldiers. Perhaps not if the main target is to blow something up, but for sidemissions.

specializing in grenades is usefull, but that's got nothing to do with what i said.
i said it'd be a waste if someone kept throwing grenades, and used all his pips only for doing so.

Soldier isnt all about killing, you can use your mobility to find different ways to get to the objective that you need to blow the heck up

On the other hand, at the moment the only other thing a Light Soldier could really use his pips for would be handing out ammo. I don't think planting charges takes a pip, and Lights probably won't make very good shielders, so they're left with ammo delivery and special grenades to spend their pips on.

I think they can make good shielders. The shield covers the other player and attaches them to it. The light will only take damage if it reaches the shieldee.

wrong, the shielder will take all damage he, and the one he shields, get.
but he can shield a light up high to help him get to a different spot.

same tactic as his heavy counterpart, higher grounds

Light Soldiers will prolly be grenade spammers.

Soldiers get infinite ammo, I presume nades are included in that package, and grenade mods

It makes sense that a light soldier would therefore want to make the most of that, getting into good spots to get nades in on the enemy

I'd prolly pair with SMG and the hardest hitting pistol I can get.

Grenades are quite simply the Light Soldiers greatest out put of damage.

seriously, grenades are a way in wich you can make your soldier good, i can not see grenades as the primary source of xp and kills for any soldier. and i don't think either of you should see grenades as such, it's just like with the operatives, any good point, you guys see as the way to make them invincible

I read somewhere that grenades have a knockdown effect and when you melee a knocked down opponent its an instant kill. So the light soldier could throw a grenade run up and melee them while they can't fight back and before they get up.

I assume that there will be other abilities light soldiers can take advantage of, that being said grenades are looking like they will be a large weapon in their collective armory. However since SD has such a distinguished history in MP games I'm sure they will figure out some way to counter grenade-spamming.

The light body type will serve several different useful roles, I'm sure. The most general simply being rushing. Faster movement along with advanced parkour may give light players a huge advantage early on, if you're able to meet up with the opponents much sooner than expected, possibly catching people with their pants down. Rushing in and getting early kills would be a huge advantage for any team, as they are able to cap command posts and possibly objectives right off the bat. Later on in the game, using parkour to move along unorthodox routes to cut across maps will almost definitely give you the ability to get behind the enemy for easy kills.

The obvious advantage of being able to dodge attacks, and the ability to simply out-run opponents, as well as escaping through routes only available to light players may very well balance the lack of health (or even outweigh that disadvantage, depending on how good you are at playing defensively).

Speed and maneuverability are a big gain for all 4 classes. Getting to objectives faster will help any class, though you may need beefier players to back you up once you get there. Medics and Soldiers can become "First Responders" in essence, being able to keep their team alive and well supplied from behind the front lines, moving back and forth where needed. Engineers should be able to get to critical locations faster than slower opponents to set up all of their different defenses; like fortifications, turrets, and mines. Finally operatives have the most intuitive match up with the light body type, Getting behind enemy lines will be very important for them, where they will be able to don a disguise and back stab opponents.Being light sounds like it will mesh well with the disguise system well, because if a heavy operative were to disguise as a light or even medium player, it would become fairly conspicuous if you cant climb over anything higher than your waist.

you seemed to implicate the light would not be hurt if he himself is shot, and thus would only take damage if the shieldee is hit
