Looking at http://www.gametimezone.com/games/lotro.php, do the expansions come with game time?

Not sure really, I've never used those. I have heard if you get the retail version they do but I'm not 100% sure with that either.

As far as I know, the expansions do not come with game time. Typically no MMO expansion will come with game time, only the base game includes it.

They don't come with "game time" as the subscription-based MMOs put it. However, buying Moria (or finding a boxed version of Moria) through that is considered one of the best ways for F2P players to get Moria + added benefits. IIRC, you get the Warden and Runekeeper classes unlocked, access to Moria content/quests, and 1 month free VIP which should include 500 TP.

(And I do recommend getting just Moria, rather than Angmar or one of the TP packs. If you just want Turbine Points, IMHO the best thing to do is wait until the LotRO Store runs a "double bonus points" promotion...usually around holidays. You can get up to 3 times as much TP as you would normally for any given price. Purchasing TP through Turbine's store will also make your account permanently "premium," which has some nice benefits such as more character slots, being able to send in-game money through the mail system, and a higher currency cap. I'm a premium player myself currently.)

Problem is, I don't have access to a store to get a boxed set. No car.

What I said was that you'd get those Moria benefits by buying either a boxed version of the game, or by purchasing it through gametimezone. Turbine offers those benefits to anyone who buys Moria from a third party.

So buying Moria through the link I posted does get me 1 month VIP as well as the other benefits?

Yes. That is exactly what I said. I don't have personal experience with buying Moria through gametimezone, but like I said: over on the LotRO forums it's considered the best way for a F2P player to purchase Moria, because of the added benefits.

uhh 20 spring leaves, some race token thing you get for finishing a horse race, and a Document of Mount Ownership which costs like 200 silver (500 if you haven't bought a first mount yet)

the token and the document are easy, the leaves took a couple of days because there are only so many quests you can do each day.

I play too, I only have one character ATM, on the Crickhollow server. Lvl 25 Elf Champ, named Alune. I just bought my first house in the falathlorn homesteads. It's a standard house, but I'm looking to save up and eventually get a deluxe house. Of course, that will mean I have to remove the gold cap on my F2P account. Is it best for me to use TP to unlock it, or would subscribing for a bit remove the cap permanently as well? I've heard some people say that subscribing will give you the extra trait slots, bags, and remove the gold cap permanently, even when you unsubscribe.

If you subscribe, your character will lose the gold cap permanently, you'll keep the extra bags, you'll keep any trait slots you got (level-bound). Basically, what you had, you keep.

Good to know, I may as well subscribe then for at least a month, since the cost of the bags and trait slots in TP is more than what it would cost to subscribe

Also Northwind, still play DDO huh? I know I asked you that question back when this thread hit the first page a few months back but haha. Good to see that, I was thinking about starting it up again but I don't know. As long as I don't jump back to the console again so I can justify paying for it I probably will.

Yeah, still going strong on Khyber. I have three capped toons there, and one of them is a TR. ^_^

 Just looked up some gameplay vids for DDO and found that it looks exactly like LOTRO.

The two share some artwork, as far as chargen goes, especially hair styles, but they are wildly different games. DDO has a very comprehensive character system with tons of customization, more in-depth combat, and a more complex item system, but it has few wide open areas, no core plot, and at current, no crafting system. The quests in DDO are all instanced, and are much more intricate and involved, and the whole game is much more party-oriented. I like both, but I have too much invested in DDO to just dump it and play LotRO more than casually.

I have this terrible habit of getting a bunch of levels on a class (a bunch being 10-15 or even 25) and then thinking "hmm, I sorta wanna try this class."

I can't decide between my level 25 champ, 15 burglar, or recently-made RK.

I know what you mean. The first thing I did with all the points I earned was to buy another character slot, then another. I'm saving up for another one, too.

I'm the exact same way, especially since I upgraded to premium and got bumped up to 5 character slots per server. I've played around with...basically all of the classes except Minstrel, Burglar, and Captain at this point.

Hunter is still my favorite, though, so I have no problem sticking with my main, Celethelel. :) I keep having to remember to make time to play my alt! (Warden, which is probably my second favorite class. Finally, I can enjoy tanking.) Still, the temptation is just there that ooooh, I want to try a Minstrel, or...
