Losing faith in Bethesda

Do they bother to put any creativity into these games. get rid of these guys who are just in it for the pay check and get some real creative talent making these games.

I don't know what game you've been playing because the New Vegas I've been playing has shown that Obsidian has some of the more imaginative individuals behind cRPG development these days.

I just don't understand what turned you off so much in the character creation. The whole point is to make it more tailored; I think many people welcome this over preset classes. Based on your post, I'd recommend you just trading it in - I really don't think you've got the attention span for it.

Someone needs to sticky "This game was made by Obsidian" so that the mistakes of saying Bethesda made it will stop. :P

Really?!

1. Its FALLOUT NEW VEGAS, not Fallout3 New Vegas.

2. If you cant even stand making a personal character, then you cannot play a game that does not hold your hand.

Sounds like a COD player who just want a boring run of the mill stupid shooter where you choose a class and the game boosts you to top level through glitches and hacks.

It seems like Bethesda softworks gave Obsidian Fallout 3 and the GECK and they made New Vegas from it. The game is lacking soul, I find myself getting bored while playing it now. When Fallout 3 first came out I was hooked on that. This game is better than Fallout 3 but it does not have the same magic. I cannot play this game for more than 2 hours anymore. Pretty soon I'd say I be going back to Oblivion full time. I never experienced a freeze up yet in the game so I am not bashing it for that or any other reason. If I had a reason to bash this game it would be invisble walls, and the fact that it looks like it was created by modders using the GECK.

I'm sick of peoples complaints about this being a 'terrible' game. Does this game have tedious and annoying bugs? I would be lying if I didnt say yes. But beyond it's issues, it's a pretty amazing game, my only complaint about F:NV is all of the invisible barriers on rocks. Seriously, if the game is this terrible, why do you come here to nag to us instead of going out and looking for a new game?

They are probably ticked because they just spent almost $100 and probably can't return it.

I dont see why they'd want to return it, most of these 'gamebreakers' seem to happen at a rare dice roll. The only one I had was the Vegas lock out and the rare freeze, the first, I fixed by RPPing Col Hsus armor, then the second on I just restarted the console.

1. Bethesda Game Studios did not develop this game2. How can you say a game is boring/unimaginative after only the beginning?3. Have you played any of the Fallout games? The great thing about character builds in the Fallout series is that you can make your own. It doesn't take too much thinking or imagination to come up with a build and pick Traits/Perks that revolve around it.

Sounds like you dont like how Fallout doe character stat...aka, letting yo uchoose details rather then just having set choices....

Why do you guys talk about this style of character creation as if it's something Fallout's always done? It's the Bethesda method. Fallout 1 and 2 didn't do creation this way. Morrowind and Oblivion did.

Constant freezes really tick off some people. My cousin destroyed his controller after his PS3 froze up for tenth time while trying to play Point Lookout. When I was at eb games 2 days ago I was told that 13 copies of New Vegas were traded in on that day. In total he said that out of all people the bought the game on release day, about 45% of them were returned within the week mostly due to bugs and glitches. Its kind of funny how angry people get over this stuff.

The OP sounds like my nephew (who is 11) who is a COD:MW addict (on his PS3, particularly online). I introduced him to FO3, showed him the Megaton explosion and some other things and let him walk around. :obliviongate: You know what he said to me?

He said: "There's not enough action."

I tried not to swear when I said: "Give me that controller and go back to your PS3."

Kids.

Eh, I suppose so. I get annoyed, but it wears off in a minute. I'm an admitted Fallout fan boy. So I can forgive these things, well, perhaps the word is 'patience' over forgiveness.

so this guy is mad because they dont have preset classes?

like instead of selecting individual skills you would just pick a class. like Sniper, assualt, spy, Demo man and scientist. that system is really getting old, im glad its how it is.

the way character creation is currently gives you more variety and lets you create the character that best fits you.

it seems like the OP has never played an RPG before in his life

Games like Oblivion and Fallout are not appealing to kids. You should have expected that response from a kid and especially a kid that plays COD. When I tried to show Fallout to my little cousin I told him it was Star Wars and I was a stormtrooper on Tattooine and he loved it. LOL he got scared when he saw the feral ghouls though. I had to turn it off. For Oblivion I said it that this was the Star Wars and this was the Empire before they invented space travel, LOL he believed it because someone started talking about the Emperor right after I said that. He thought the were talking about Emperor Palpatine. ROFL. To make it seem more legit I had a lightsaber mod on my Oblivion.

Dude it takes me like 5 minutes tops to make a character that looks like me and get through Doc Mitchelles, I just press the first answer for every question, because it really doesn't matter, since you can change your tag skills anyway. To the no personality part, they have a very good number of npcs with unique personalities, but do you know how rediculous it would be to try and give every npc a unique personality, and about them being boring, which admittedly some are, you have to remember this is a post-apocalyptic setting so most people won't be happy and enthusiastic about everything.

I started fallout3 new vegas and got bored during the character creation process. it would be nice if we could just pick a class with preset talents and skills. talking to the old doc and doing his phsyco therapy session felt like i was having my arm twisted to answer those dumb questions. Then the boring acting, the npc's feel like i could have a better conversation with a robot. Do they bother to put any creativity into these games. get rid of these guys who are just in it for the pay check and get some real creative talent making these games.

This seems mainly a troll attempt. If that was the most bothersome thing you need to go play Kewl Lewt Lazor Blastur or some such.

The depth, writing and characters in this game are excellent - on par easily with FO 1 & 2 and any other RPG ever released with the exception of maybe Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2
