LulzSec takes down Eve Online, Minecraft and League of Legen

Post » Wed Jun 15, 2011 9:49 am

It'd be nice if they came out and said they'd hacked the Mob, and were turning over the evidence of where Jimmy Hoffa's buried to the authorities..

Would that sort of thing be kept on a website?

I wonder how long before some of these people realize that "trolling" is actually a form of antisocial personality disorder/Conduct Disorder? The punishment for these buffoons should be a prompt appointment for a psychiatric evaluation and a large amount of medication...
Seriously? No. I may dislike what LulzSec is doing to portions of the Internet, but you can't just lump "trolling" with something as serious as antisocial personality disorder or conduct disorder.

Plus, a large majority of people suffering from ASPD are already in jail for one reason or another - violent crimes, typically. LulzSec probably consists of a wider range of individuals than we imagine.

But do we even know where these guys are? Seems like they're US based, but maybe not.

They are British

In my country, if they think you're a danger but don't actually have any evidence to charge you with an offence, they can just put you under house arrest without trial and take your computer and telephone equipment away from you. Seems like a fitting punishment in this case.

Better yet: force them to go outside into the sunlight. Or to read a book.

I've pulled my financial details from Steam until this lunacy dies down, along with a few other sites. I'm getting a bit annoyed with LotRO/Turbine though--I have credit card info associated with my Turbine account which they won't allow me to remove. And considering that several other MMOs have wound up in Lulzsec's crosshairs... :brokencomputer:

Ive said it once and I'll say it again: Nerds on a power trip.

Yep, and I really want to see them standing handcuffed in front of a judge.

They probably think they're being thought of as internet heroes or something.

Doubt it. Everywhere I've seen discussion on these guys (and similar groups), they've been called childish idiots and are generally hated all around. Surely they know they're not popular.

Well they're apparently not aware of the repercussions of their actions, or are aware but uncaring in which case they're sociopaths.

Unfortunately I've seen quite a bit of praise for them on various PC enthusiast forums, particularly for their action against Sony.

Yeah those guys aren't getting caught then, Christ it'd violate their human rights more than likely; [censored] criminals, I wouldn't stop at confiscating their equipment.

I don't think they care whether or not they're hated. I think they are doing it to amuse themselves, and not giving two [censored] about who gets caught up or hurt in their antics. Eventually they will be brought down, but another group will just wind up taking their place instead.

Not once have I ever had any illusion that the people (I use that term loosely) responsible for these attacks were anything more than malicious hackers only out for themselves and and whatever sort of twisted humor they receive from hacking whomever they please. I hope they will be able to find the humor in it when they are brought to justice.

These guys really arn't funny. They're just annoying more and more people. And attacking the Escapist because of negative comments about them there? What are they, 12 years old? This is the equivalent of a child kicking another because he said something mean. I'm hoping MI6 or the CIA swoop down on their members and hold them in deep dark cells for a long time. :verymad:

Okay, maybe my statement was a little hyperbolic, but forgive my ignorance (iirc, psychology is your forte? Unless I'm mistaken). "Trolling" in maybe the full definition may not be so sinister, but there are some people that get kicks from doing or saying incendiary things just to get people all wound up and can lead to things like cyberbullying in some cases. Add on top of this the tendency for some internet goers to trick people into seeing explicit imagery (the "raid" on youtube where tons of porm was uploaded in a misleading fashion. Disguised as pop culture videos.) that could be considered public indecency, exposure to minors, or some internet equivalent. And then there's this, a bunch of script kiddies going around causing problems out of some sick sense of enjoyment. Any of these could be considered illegal. While this disregards the real life portion of their existence, I highly doubt they are much more mature in any face to face situation.

So maybe most wouldn't meet the full definition of either of those disorders, but I think there is most definitely something wrong with them on an individual basis. Either way, you cannot deny these individuals are acting solely in an anti-social manner.

All I want to know is... what do they think they're doing? I mean, do they realize that they're rapidly losing what support they had?

By hacking/attacking SO many different gaming sites, for no particular reason, it seems like they're stepping on their own toes. With the way they're just spraying everything in their path, at some point they're going to piss off(if they haven't already) the kind of people who might actually be able to do something about them in a way that governmental agencies either can't or won't.

Did anyone else hear that they hit that forum we can't talk about?

They just got a lot of very angry people after them. Watch for them to get hit in the next week by other hackers.

I think at this point it's not lulzsec we should be so disappointed with, three companies which produce games that are either fully or partially online, and they're all hacked in one day?
We need to be asking questions of what they're going to do to keep our information safe in the future.

I don't care whether they were hacked by a script kiddie in his mum's basemant or a Russian credit card theft syndicate, it's just not good enough.

Yes. That one. And a certain b-board.

Apparently they're trying to get more bots.
