A magic based assasin is so fun

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:50 am

As the title says!
My high elf Ruma is a magic based assasin, using illusion (the most).. Destruction, and one handed (daggers).

She's a dark character, worships the deadra, especaially mehrunes Dagon.
She worships the night mother and sithis also.
She dabbles in alchemy to make poisons for her blade, and collects deathbell and nightshade.

She keeps a souvenir from each of her main contracts.

What I do, is frenzy a group of enemies, use destro from the shadows until there's one left.
I then casually stroll towards them, use a calm spell, then finish them with my dagger.

It's so much fun

I've been thinking of doing a similar build, but a Dunmer instead that uses Conjured Weapons.

This is an excellent type of character for a vampire, which I have, and it is really fun. With this type of character you are so overpowered it is insane, which is why I enjoy it.

I was going to use conjured weapons, but for RP I don't :P

Funny you should say that, I was thinking about becoming a vampire!

Eh.. It was better in Oblivion. I could easily make a spell that will get my targets to attack everybody, including guards, on sight! Easy Kill and never get into trouble!

If you do that, I suggest you get certain enchantments, like fire resistance, stamina regeneration, fortify magic, fortify magic regeneration, and I think that is it. Oh and Illusion spells cost less enchantment, and if you want the enchantment for destruction spells to cost less. A lot of these enchantments come with the Arch-Mage's robe. You also want to get the Necromage perk so all enchantments are stonger by 25%

If you plan on doing enchanting, stick to using daggers. That way you can focus on magic cost reduction instead of one-handed damage bonuses (since Daggers don't benefit from them.)

Oh, and the Necromage as Dmel25 stated, is extremely powerful as a Vamp.

Does the vampire necromage combo also improve alchemy?

I think it effects any spells targeting yourself. So I would assume drinking a potion would heal more than it says it does, for example.

I believe so, I think it gives you a 25% bonus to anything that affects your characters.

Thank you!
It's worth investing in, + the recovery perk from restoration will be helpful.

I believe it only effects skills in the magic tree, i.e. it will affect enchanting, but not alchemy.

I have always made a build like this since I started playing this series, its a very fun way to play, especially for a darker character personality or an unhinged character. It's great too on criss crossing the magic skills with the sneak skills a Nightblade type character has always been one of the funnest builds for me.

I stumbled across this build by accident myself. I made a Breton, then got the Atronoch Stone, beat the College then did the Dark Brotherhood. Fighting mages is my favorite because their magick just juices me up. I usually open with a sneaky bound bow, or a 30x sneak dagger attack, then just blow everyone away.

I find it irresistable to use Frenzy on a member of a group, just to watch the fun that ensues. Otherwise I'll use my Bound Bow or sneak up and use my Blade of Woe, usually after casting Paralyze. Oh, and needless to say, I work alone. Follower management is too much of a hassle.

i use an assassin that only uses bow and his daggers, i also dont use any poisons but instead enchant the [censored] out of the weapons.(good for money aswell)
i mainly use my bow when theres a bunch of enemies in a group, when they look around i wait until they give up, pick them off 1 at a time, until theres 1 or 2 left and go in with my dagger sneak up and do an epic
assassin kill. not sure if many of you do the same but ehh, thats my way of assassinating

Oh yes, magic based assassin is very fun indeed, although I'm making life difficult for myself by spreading my perks pretty wide, at least wider than my last character. I've pretty much been opportunistic with my assassinations. Some knifed in bed, some stabbed in broad daylight (one in the middle of town to boot), arrow for the khajiiti caravan target...

Once I get the invisibility spell, I'll be a backstab machine. Makes head to head fights interesting too, was proper proud of myself after seeing off 2 frost trolls. :D

Ha :P I managed to kill a frost troll at lvl 4 with an iron sword and the flames spell, took me a while!

Noice! Just had a repeat of that fight, but this time with a hargraven thrown in the mix. Thank god for fast heal and highborn, my potion stock would have been insufficient for that one. Duck n dive ftw lol.

Crouching around a group of enemies, sticking an ice spike in someone's head and snapping out of view with invisibility while those around you scramble is very entertaining. More fun than stunning with dual wield and running around like a nut.

yh. I've done something similar with a Dunmer assassin mage.

Primarily Destruction & Illusion magic. I've tried to stay away from weapons and rely solely on destruction.

I find runes are very effective. That and firing dual Ice Spikes from afar. I could be wrong but I'm sure ice magic is more stealthy than fire and shock.

wears Light armor. also good with sneak.

I've stayed away from Conjuration and Alteration as I have a Breton witch in robes / clothes who specialises in these magic fields.
