A major delimma.

Okay, so I checked out the preorders on Steam and Direct2Drive and just wanted some opinions on the preorder bonuses. With Direct 2 Drive you get the Tribal pack which come with tribal armor, spears, a machete, and some poison. With the Steam pre order you get binoculars, repair kits, leather armor and a shotgun.

Personally the binoculars alone are drawing me toward the Steam preorder but again wanted to see what you guys thought.

It doesnt really matter, equivalents will probably show up within an hour of game play. Im actually glad Bethesda/Obsidian did it this way. That way there isnt a bunch of super unique items floating around out there.

<_< I'd have to say tribal armor because binoculars probably will be useless for every playthrough except sniper
Plus you can roleplay as the chosen one's decendent! how cool is that?

The binoculars aren't supposed to be a pre-order exclusive and should be available in the game.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I can't tell you how many times I was scanning the horizon in the wastelands trying to find something wishing I had some binoculars. Some entrances that open up on a cliff side or on the ground are difficult to spot. Also, I'm sure the shotgun will come in really handy. <_<

You can find binoculars anyway, so the 'bonus' is getting them at the start of the game. Yay.

Yes and yes. The second guy just screams so much to work with! Like how he got there, whats in that jumpsuit of his and what vault.

Yeah I wrote that out wrong. I meant Mad Max like character or some scum bucket that kills and totures that feasts on the blood of the innocent. Depends wether I feel good-neutral or evil. or just neutral.

It seems like the pre-order items are things you'll only use for the first few hours of playing, so my opinion would be "who cares?" No offense, but when I saw "major dilemma" I thought it was going to be something more weighty than this. :P

There's going to be canteens in the game???

That's good to know since my first run through is going to be the hardcoe mode

Probably going to be really frustrating at times but it sounds really cool. Will definitely have to plan before doing almost anything!

I was actually at PAX (check my mega information threads if you haven't already) and I actually found a pair at Primm. So i would preorder from Direct 2 Drive because the binoculars are found very early in the game.

thx for the inexact info, I know what I'm going to look for in Primm (thinks of eyebot and binoculars).

Enough to keep me intrigued to check out the area and enough to feel that satisfactory of 'finders keepers.'
