If you want to get started making games, I'd recommend something like http://unity3d.com/ or you can wait until the Doom 3 engine is released as open-source.

I never even heard about this.

I definately will download it and mess around in it, and if I think I can make a game for it, I'll try

IIt's like say a apple taste bad without tasting it. You can't say if it is good or bad.

I've eaten enough apples to know the general taste of an apple. I know that the squishy ones get to be kinda disgusting, and the really green ones tend to hurt my teeth. I can tell how an apple will taste by looking at it. Lets convert that metaphor:

1) 99.9% of people who say they have cool ideas, don't. I'm a modder, I see this all the time. People say "I've got this great idea for a mod that is going to revolutionize modding," but it turns out it's just a vanilla dungeon with some OP vampires and a chainmail bikini at the end. Even if it's not quite that bad, it's almost never something revolutionary or brand new. Most ideas have been thought of, and most of what we personally think of as cool isn't perceived as such by other people. I can't think of a single awesome mod or game that came about from the idea of someone who couldn't implement it themselves. Ideas are cheap, everyone has them, but they are rarely as awesome as they seem.

2) You're not giving off a very good impression. Your username is misspelled, for heaven's sake, not to mention various errors within your posts. It's fine for casual forum posting, but if you're trying to convince us to take you seriously you have to appear to be at least somewhat professional. Right now, you strike me as a typical mid-teens gamer, not as someone who could greatly improve the console experience with his ideas.

3) You don't seem to have done any research. All I know about your idea is that it's supposedly awesome, but that tells me nothing. Is it an improvement to the processor that will make areas load faster? Is it an improvement to the interface which will make navigation easier? Is it a modification to improve cooling? You make this thread asking the broadest questions possible, rather than doing some googling to figure out the basics and then asking us for details, clarification, and opinions. You've got passion, but it's not directed anywhere, and you seem to expect us to do all the work of figuring out how to put your awesome ideas in action.

Silicon controlers with nipble shaped joysticks.

No need for games then, DVDs will do.

Use my idea.... please

Alright, let's push past the "oh bro you don't have half a billion dollars to spare so it's impossible". That's not true. Let me start throwing out ideas on how to get started.

First, you need to learn how to build a computer. You should learn what each part does and then study what the most compact and cost:speed effective parts would be. I'm guessing you want a decent machine in a nice compact case like an Xbox, 360, PS1/2/3, etc.

Second, learn to shape sheets of plastic and metal. This will be easier said than done, but you'll need these skills to really shape up your case so everything fits and looks sleek. Otherwise, find a guy who can do this and have him work on it for you.

Third, learn to program. You can make a really cool OS to run games on your machine using Linux as a platform. You probably wouldn't even have to do much, just change the user interface a lot so it's less accessible. You also would want to make some games for your new console. Since many popular game creation libraries work for ( most flavors of ) Linux, it wouldn't be a problem doing so.

You can learn these in whatever order you'd like, but I reckon those are the three ( or two ) primary skills you'll need. You could probably make a decent console for less than $1,000. The price of your time and effort, however, can vary immensely.

OP, stop attacking everyone who posts in your threads - they're not criticising you or your ideas, they're being realistic. Microsoft doesn't want your idea, and a teenager can't make a games console and multiple games to go on it. That's life.

You need to learn to walk before you can run. Try modding in an easy engine like Source, or learn to 3D model with Blender or the student version of 3dsMax. Unity and UDK are both free as well.

What your describing is a nice little personal project. This kid wants to compete with Microsoft/Sony which is impossible to to without a budget. You said it yourself:

"You could probably make a descent console for under 1000."

Who wants to buy a "decent" console? The price/performance ratio would svck balls, no publishers eould sign a contract with you, and a console is nothing without games.

Furthermore, this kid has no sign of motivation. He's just a teen that thinks he has a "revolutionary" idea. Hell, he wont even tell us his idea because he thinks we will "steal" it. No one that delusional can succeed in business.

Lol just shut up you have no clue about what you are talking about AT ALL.

Yes for this I hope would to ONE DAY compete with microsoft, but I know good and well that I can't compete with microsoft/sony/nintendo on a low budget. This is what I'm talking about when I say you jump to conclusions. When did I ever say I was trying to get this idea off the ground right this minute or even in the next few years.

The under the 1000 dollar bugdet thing, yeah that would be nice to make as a prototype. But there would be no way I would be able to market myself. How do I sound trying to market myself with only a prototype? It just wouldn't make sense.

Anyways, so many of you have blown this way out of proportion. All I asked for was in what ways do you think I could get these ideas off the ground. It didn't call for the ignorant assumptions like *not a direct quote* " you just want to make a massive huge open world game" that's ignorant. Anyways I was looking for replies like some of what you said like assemble a team.

Attacking everyone, what are you talking about? Im just saying don't post ignorance. I can take criticism and thats fine. But to say stuff like " you don't have a good idea, you just want to make a open world game "(when did I say that), " this kid is trying to compete with microsoft/sony on a low budget "(when did I say I was going to try to get the console off now) and other assumptions like that is what deserves to be attacked for making foolish comments. So please, don't try to make it seem like I am the one who is trying to be rude to everyone when I'm really not.

The reality of it is that, I can't compete with any big or small company on a low budget, I can't create a great console on a low budget, making a game that is great is almost impossible just with one person.

Again I like the criticism, I just don't appreciate the foolish comments, those comments that are basically insults. I know that I can't just make this console in my garage and have it sell millions from my garage, I couldn't even make a millions of them from my garage.
