Mass Effect Thread #65

Um, why? Score doesn't matter in multiplayer, all earned XP is divided equally between each player at the end of the match.
I did not know of this.

Okay, being the fool I was when ME1 came out, I chose soldier and gunned my way through the Reaper threat.

Now, I want to do more. I want to use biotics non-stop and demolish everyone. Is Vanguard an effective mix of combat/biotics, or should I go pure biotic?

Vanguard is a blast in ME3, It was fun in ME2 as welll, I found the combination of biotics and shotgun to be oh so delightful, and the ME3 Charge/Nova combo stayed satisfying for a long time. :D

There is nothing I hate more in a Gold fight than a kill-stealer. Man, it pisses me off. He waits when I charge and Nova, then finishes the enemy before I melee. [censored] [censored].

Also, it could be that they genuinely don't see you charging. I've done that a couple of times inadvertently - killed while a vanguard was charging and thought 'oh crap, oops!'

There's very little that can survive Charge > Nova > headshot with Wraith :hehe: It does leave you vulnerable though, so even though Nova does area damage it's a bad ide to use in crowded areas. Not that it stops me from doing so ;)

This time with Vanguard i decided not to use pistol and SMG with shotgun, and have instead use Mattock with shotgun. It has the accuracy of a pistol and when need be the fire rate of a SMG, and weights less than the weapons it replaces. It doesn't have the stopping power of the Paladin, but i mostly use it against shields anyway.

Yeah, thought about that first, but after the 10th time it begun to seem a bit suspicious.

I use only shotgun. It's ineffective alone, yes, but the recharge bonus is priceless.

What I'm trying to figure out is how someone can manage to get 21k points in a Bronze match (he was the low, and the group as a whole had slacked a bit - my soldier was by far the top at 71k), and only have a single badge at the end. For 25 assists. I mean, if he was afk'ing, he wouldn't have nearly that many points.

Adept is way better in Mass Effect 1, Vanguard is better in Mass Effect 2/3 due to the awesome Biotic Charge although Vanguard does allow you to equip Medium armor.

I just played ME1 as an adept - and rolled it into ME2 - I thought I would, for once, try to stay with a class all the way through. Adept in ME1 was kinda meh, though by the end, yeah effective enough, it just had no oomph. But I stuck with it - singularity in particular was hilariously overpowered high up int he skill tree - I'd just toss it any old place, and crates, mobs, rocks... all would get picked up. ME2 biotics are just so much more satisfying. Throw just makes me laugh so often, looking for mobs I can nail so they go flying off a bridge or whatever. Heh.

BTW, is it possible to have no guns in ME3? If yes i'll try playing an unarmed adept in ME3 next. Guns are for biotically challenged people :P

You need at least 2 weapons equipped.

Didn't think it was possible, but having only the default pistol is pretty close to unarmed.

Seriously, it svcks. Why did the cutscene Shepard insist on on using it when my soldier had a machine gun? :swear: Well, atleast it's no longer the assault rifle that appeared from nowhere in ME2 :hehe:

I'm pretty sure I once saw a message "you need at least two weapon to proceed". Probably a squadmate was in question, though.

But it is. You go almost every cutscene with the M8 Avenger, even if you have no assault rifles. Always bothered me. From Therum to London Shepard always carries an M-8 for the cutscenes.

So I was mad that I had to play mulitplayer at first, but now its all I have been playing, seriously well done job with the multiplayer :)

Highest I have beaten is silver, I like playing on bronze more than anything though, I use a Drell Adept almost exclusively and usually get the highest score with it.

One question how many freaking spectre packs do I have to buy to get the option to customize skin tone????

Hmm, let's see..... Unlock & primary color; secondary color; pattern; lights; skin tone. So, 5 unlocks (only 4 for human, since you get the first to start with).

Yeah, it's going to take forever to get my Asari Adept to look interesting. (Plenty of unlocks for my uncommon Asari Vanguard, but I svck at Vanguarding )

I'm enjoying the multiplayer more then any other online shooter in years.

In SP, do you get more war assets for

siding with the Geth or the Quarians?

It's best if you get both, but the Geth give a little more.

Yes, but you need to complete the two other missions on Rannoch, save the Admiral, and have at least three reputation bars. Killing the heretics doesn't matter.
