I like Maven, and I prefer her to be Jarl. Laila Law-Giver is just too gullible (she listens to her corrupt advisor too much)

Girl power!

lets not get started on the "corrupt advisor" and her "lessons" with the bodyguard ;D

I put her in power - she was basically ruling the city anyway, and at least now the city isn't corrupt.

no...i kinda dont understand why people ( ie . men) get so pissed with her , i think its basically a domination thing , she kicks your ass and you can do nothing about it , but me (male) dont find that insulting at all , its nice to see a female npc owning some major ass .

the oddest thing is when i went into the bee and barb to tell her i had burned down all the bee hives...the way she was standing over the tabel in the semi-darkness was seriousley sinister and threatning , and i can honestly say i was more than a bit anxious about what she was going to do with me.

note : the thieves guildline for skyrim has , in my esteem , seriousley gone up in plotline and major chracter twists , the way i was tricked with karliah was so convincing, plus i really enjoyed the rich detail and animation the quests brought.

the only thing im gonna critisise on is this : nightgales

i think the armour , the hideout and the secrets were great for it , but it bugs me that previous to skyrim they never even exisisted ( unless im wrong) , surley if you became the grey fox of cyrodill you would of at least heard of them....?

+

WHERE WAS MY GREY FOX MASK HMMM?!

the nightingales were created 100 years before skyrim

If she didn't constantly talk down to me, I'd like her more.

I agree.

Basically, she's a very successful businesswoman, and unfortunately I think most of us tend to see successful women as (insert word that begins with a 'b' and ends with 'itches').

Yes, but she's a successful woman who is intimately involved with organized crime and (according to her) has close ties with an enclave of sadistic murderers for hire, whose attentions she will obliquely threaten you with if she thinks you might get in her way. Neither of those things have anything to with her six, but they speak volumes about her character.

or maybe she is actually a [censored]. She thinks she runs the world and controls 2 of the most secretive guilds in skyrim. But she is weak and without all the Gold a beggar could beat her to a pulp and NOBODY would care

She has a letter addressed to Astrid by name, we can presume they've meet.

I didn't have to do a lot of investigation to find that out for myself lol.

She's a badly-written fictional character (like Balgruuf, everyone in the thieves guild, the leader of the Forsworn, etc, etc.), which is why I don't like her. She was actually pretty blank and devoid of any actual personality. So much for the build-up. And this mocking cardboard character is grating.

Successful businesswomen are like successful businessmen. Some of them are amicable, and some others not so much. There is no one-size-fits-all. Even the blanket term "businessperson" I dislike. People act as people. Individuals.

You had to meet with her in person to find out her name.

Or find a letter from her when one of her family members tries to kill you. However, it's safe to say that Maven found out Astrid's name by enlisting the Dark Brotherhood's services rather than being a target.

Maven is corrupt, Laila is a wimp. Lose-lose

Maven has zero contacts with the Dark Brotherhood (Night mother doesn't talk/listen). In the basemant is actually a dark sacrament with a note that Maven in pissed that nobody has done anything. And the Thieves Guild is absolutely nothing unless you help them.

If you don't intervene she doesn't have much power. And Laila means well.

Evidently speaking along with the angry note that is in maven's basemant that she appears to have some contacts with the organization since her letter is written to Astrid.

Maven still have power in spite of you intervening. She still has the guards in her wallet and that includes Laila.

She has never given cause for anyone to like her. Not one iota of respect for the world savior, no deeds of valor of her own. A random begger would be more useful as they sell speech buffs for 1gold.
