Morag Tong should've been a guild.

And yeah, the Dark Brotherhood has fallen hella hard. I wonder if this means this is the last game we're going to have them in, or if just the Skyrim' branch is buggered.

In the Lore on uesp.net it mentions.

"The massive reward from the assassination proved essential to the Brotherhood's continued survival. Using contacts the Listener had secured within the Thieves Guild, the payment for the

death funded the reconstruction of the Dawnstar Sanctuary. Seated in a new sanctuary not under the extremely tough watch of the Penitus Oculatus, the Brotherhood began to see a rise in membership for the first time in over 200 years."

They have actually been written into the lore so this far or for the time frame of the dragonborn, the DB has reestablished themselves, The Morag Tong has not been written into Lore since

"After the Argonian invasion and destruction of Vvardenfell it was said by a former Morag Tong member who joined the Thieves Guild that the Morag Tong disbanded and vowed to get back together one day."

I personally did enjoy the presence of the Morag Tong in Morrowind. But that was only because I liked to kill them. I don't see how they would have a place in future games either.

I don't know much about the Morag Tong but they should've had a comeback in Skyrim.

The Morag Tong weren't in it for the money either. They were primarily a religious group just like the DB.

Morag Tong could have easily been incorporated into Skyrim. Many of the Dunmer in Skyrim are refugees from the disasters in Morrowind. Just like the Russian Mafia came to America after the collapse of the USSR, the refugee Dunmer population could have brought the Morag Tong. Windhelm would be the perfect base for the MT. There could have been a cool quest where you join either the MT or DB and annihilate the other organization. The DB in Skyrim feels contrived.. like the whole concept was just lifted right out of Oblivion.

But he also called them the MoraNg Tong, so either there's a lorebreaking error, or he's making stuff up and getting the name wrong.
Also known as the Lemon Morang. They killed people by throwing poisonous pies.

Except the Morag Tong was always a legal organization in Morrowind. They were expected to surreder to authorities after completing each contract to show them the writ authorizing the assassination. If they appeared in Skyrim they'd little different then the dark brotherhood. The Morag Tong are closer to the KGB then the russian mafia.

Not to split hairs or anything but the KGB were every bit the gangsters of any mafia organization.

No hair splitting at all. The previous poster was comparing the legal judicial order of the Morag Tong to a outlawed criminal organization.

Right. So in Morrowind the Morag Tong are a sanctioned organization. The Empire might not recognize them as a legitimate organization but this is the method by which the Dunmer police themselves. We see the same phenomenon with Sharia law in nations with large Muslim immigrant populations. As sometimes happens under Sharia, the Morag Tong perform honor killings to preserve the cultural integrity of the Dunmer. Windhelm would be the perfect setting for a clash of cultures considering the racial tensions there. I kept expecting to find a quest that hinges on this plot device but other than a simple fist fight, the opportunity is wasted.

At this point in the lore, the Morag Tong are all but destroyed*. With the red year brining destruction to Morrowind and all that.

I never liked the Morag Tong, mainly for two reasons. The first being that they are Mephla Cult. They kill for Mephla. Still a cult. The second reason is that they are legal. Why? What's the point of this? Yes I know if used up your Writ you got no rewafd, but still. It just seems worthless to me.

Morag Tong don't work to well outside of Morrowind. In fact, they were only accepted in morrowind.

*For now

It be a horrible setting because the great houses that supported the Morag Tong are gone, and most of the dark elves are living in the slums with a lucky few scattered about Skyrim living in somewhat better conditions. There is nothing to support such an organization. The Morag Tong were a political tool of the Great Houses used to resolve conflicts that would otherwise be resolved by an outright war.

With which that Skyrim would be a horrible setting for the Morag Tong. Or the fact that everything that made the Morag Tong what it was is gone.

Isn't the Morag Tong Organization dead? You know, after the whole Morrowind incident where Red Mountain blew up. But even if it isn't, it really shouldn't be a Guild as it makes little sense that the Morag Tong is strong enough to be a guild in Skyrim.

But I am disappointed that they didn't make an appearance in places like Windhelm where Dunmer aren't exactly the best treated. Just a few quests would've been nice.

Oh yeah: I do agree that the Dark Brotherhood should've been different in the sense where I can choose whether or not to be a religious organization or a business.

I don't like the whole night lady thing.

I think assassins should be assassins and kill for the money, not some ancient corpse.

I think there should've been an alternate ending to the DB.

So you either had the choices of going back to the old way or continuing in the new.

I don't know much about the Morag Tong but they should've had a comeback in Skyrim.
Oh please, the Morag Thong Tong kill people for Mephala, a Daedric Prince. They are religious as well. And the Night Mother could easily be Mephala just trying to screw with the two sides.
