No more free arrows

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 5:05 am

Apparently the 1.4 patch has "fixed" the exploit, where if you give a follower one good arrow, they will never use it up. Jenassa has just gone through about 60 Daedric without my noticing, since I started playing today. Boo-hoo. Furthermore, she also used up her unending supply of 15 cheepies and I only noticed when she started hand-to-hand with a mudcrab.

Are they also making it so you can't give guards an arrow and have them shoot them off to get duplicates? Because I mean really, how else are you supposed to get a usable amount of daedric arrows (without console commands).

That kinda svcks - I've got about 150 Daedric arrows, almost all from picking Lydia's arrows out of bodies; that supply won't last long if Lydia actually starts using them.

Has anybody checked the guard arrow exploit to see if it still works??

edit : no mention of this exploit in 1.4 release notes

Folks,

They are the best arrows in the game. Don't you think it would a bit more balanced if you didn't have an unending supply? Seriously, why spend time in game managing an exploit when you can buy enough ebony arrows to kill everything in the game almost as fast.

Worry about something else.

with the lockpicking perk that improves loot, you'll find more daedric arrows and more money to buy them in solitude

btw, I think its a good thing that they fixed exploits, I wasn't using them anyway, but now all those who were complaining about the game being too easy or lockpicking and speechcraft being useless will finally shut up. (hopefully)

there should be some way to craft arrows really.. like one wood + one iron ingot + hawk feathers = 10 arrows.. or something.. It'd be much better.

this way, assuming using a non heavy armor char, you should perk all the way up to daedric just to craft daedric arrows, kinda unbalanced don't you think?
it would be a waste of perks for non-smithing builds

doesn't have to be perk based.

I agree, It would be nioce if you could make arrows just like weapons. Or at least make them more available for purchase. As far as I know, the Fletcher in Solitude is the only one who sells deadric arrows.

You can get alot of them from your Thieves Caches in the 5 major strongholds once you've done all the City Influence quests and become Guild Master. Too bad it's glitched most of the time. I only have the caches in 2 of the 5 cities and only one city respawns then every other in game week. There should be a total of 15 caches in Skyrim.

If the game wasn't so glitched and things worked and updated correctly, people wouldn't have to exploit things.

D?dric arrows are not SUPER good. They do like what 8 more damage than a glass arrow? Hardly worth it when I'm doing 250+ already.

I have a mod that allows me to craft arrows. Gotta have the perk for the material type to craft the arrows. Works great. Something that should have been in the game from the beginning.

For those on PC, I suggest a mod called "Vendors Have Arrows". Just search for it on Nexus.

My character doesn't craft- anything, so the mods that allow you to craft arrows weren't helpful.

So I can make a Daedric sword/bow in the thousands of damage, daedric armor in the thousands of defense, and slap on enchants and use poisons and potions to increase that even further, but my God, don't let daedric arrows be reasonably obtainable! That's game breaking!!!!!!!

Do you hear yourself? If ebony arrows are almost as good and 4 extra damage isn't that big a deal when you can already one-hit most anything in the game, there shouldn't be any problem allowing us to obtain the arrows more sensibly.

that's why you should check what the patches "fix" before installing/updating them...sometimes they break more then they fix

The release note said nothing about "fixing" this, and as far as I know there were no complaints about it in the first place.

Yeah, no kidding. No one cares about this being fixed. There are much worse issues they could be fixing. Like the Thieves caches not spawning in every city they're supposed to.

Assuming, like every other daedric items you need deasdric hearts. I doubt a level one in riverwood can find a good amount of them

You completly missed the point there though, to do all that boosting uses up (wastes) perks, you want to do the same thing for free.

And you just lost any credibility by using a strawman for my statement. An extra 4 damage doesn't compare to the thousands you can obtain from enchanting, smithing, and alchemy. I don't want free arrows, I would gladly pay more than their current cost. But I can't, because I have to scour chests and kill the odd centaurion to collect a FEW. In the battles you take to get daedric arrows, you could go through 4-5 times what you will ever get so they're not worth using for combat anyway.

Come to bat for Bethesda when people are doing these "exploits" after we can make our own damn ammunition. I can make my own spell tomes, armor, weapons...but let's draw the arbitrary line at arrows of all things.

I just played a session and found that this post is incorrect. My follower had 5 Daedric arrows in her inventory, and after a long drawn out battle in a large Forsworn camp, I picked up at least 15 that she had nailed enemies with, and a few on the ground.

They only need one arrow in their inventory and they'll shoot that type all day long (just like with the guard arrow exploit).

I have the same experience (though I only gave Lydia 1 arrow), and I didn't pick up anywhere close to 15. :)
