Motorcyles?

Vehicles wouldn't be able to be much faster than running in this flavor of game. The cell loading as you cross their boundaries would make the game horribly choppy. (even more so than it is now) And folks with low end computers would HATE it, Move a bit, wait for the next cell to load.... move a bit.... and on and on and on. Of course, in reality, given the terrain, you wouldn't be moving much faster than someone could run anyway..... (the truck is permanently stuck in six-low. :D)

You see this to some extent in Oblivion, but, at higher levels, I can run faster than most of the horses anyway... and I can't fight from horseback (yet), so, I just don't bother with them.

In a vehicle, most critters would run when they heard you anyway. Death Claws, and possibly Cazadores could be a problem though..... A Death claw could probably open up the cab of a truck like a can of sardines... with much the same result. The contents thereof get eaten. Cazadores would just come in thru the window. (Roll it up?) Most small arms would be able to penetrate the body work, and you would definitely have to do something about their propensity to explode.... that would play hell with whatever inventory you had stashed on the vehicle. :D Anti-Material rifle would punch thru it like it wasn't even there.

I could see the driver being able to attack with one handed weapons, even possibly using vats.... two handed would either have to be a no-no, or, with SEVERE penalties to accuracy/spread. Being able to run over your opponent would be a requirement. :D

ok so cars are powered by nuclear power that sounds [censored] in all honesty and a pretty crap excuse to get rid off cars. It's my only complaint about fallout as a series a absolute turd of an excuse to get ride off the best invention in the last 100 years and its just being lazy. Were not asking them to make need for speed new Vegas just fling in a single car and make it insanely hard to get like 500.000 caps or 2oo hundred separate components with a 100% repair but how do the [censored] does vertabirds fly and the plane at the battle of Hoover dam.And why not put in a camel it is the desert but to be honest the game world isn't big enough u cold cross the map in about a minute the worlds just to small. But no for a camel.

I think it'd be cool to fix up one of the motorcycles and ride it around the wasteland.

I don't think having vehicles in the currant games would work, you would have dozens of critters chasing you for one thing. I do think that a fallout game made specifically with vehicles in mind would be awesome though. One with a huge motorway system with road warriors and such.

Could absolutely have vehicles for future fallout titles but it would need a much smoother engine. As awful a game as Far Cry 2 was it had an amazing environment and heavy vehicle use to zip around, if only the complexity of a fallout world could be matched with that sort of gorgeous, smooth flowing open world environment.

RAGE will have makeshift vehicles and a solid ID engine to make it work, since there's a connection with beth maybe they can collaborate on making a sweet new engine for the next Fallout game. (from what I've heard from other people they're connected somehow ?)

Tactics did have heaps of vehicles, they were so useless though ! I remember restoring a tank and not using it because half my squad had to walk anyway... not to mention it was bugged as hell to use them too.
