A Movie

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:00 am

If done right!! By right I mean gritty and dirty like " Kingdom of heaven" was or "Brave heart", if it's all clean looking and fancy like PoP then it ends up feeling like " The scorpion king" kinda cartoony. I would like to see it done realistically and be dark and grungy with an over tone of eminent danger around every corner with a touch of "Conan the barbarian" or even done like " The thirteenth warrior" which is based on norse mythology.

tomb raider, prince of persia, they weren't bad

Compared to the video game series Tomb Raider the movies were awful. As movies, they were okay, but compared to the games, they blew hard. The movies focus so much on the tomb raider and not nearly enough on the tomb raiding.

Honestly LOTR by peter jackson did an awesome way of personifying the books. One of the few movies that deserves to be compared to the book.

They can't be compared to the books. LoTR were good movies but so much from the books were cut out, and there was a lot of stuff in the films that were not in the book.

As for a ES movie Todd said he didn't want ES turning into a series of comics or movies so it planed for now to be a game exclusive license.

thanks for that info I saw the live action trailer and thought there was a game of thrones thing that could happen which would kick dragon balls. I figured that with Oblivion and morrowind

I don't see Skyrim or any other TES game making a good movie series, mainly because the worlds tend to be open ended with everyone choosing to do different things and have a different appearance I mean were a movie to be made from Skrim you would have to choose:
the Dragon Born's race, gender, alinement, and position on the war. Making it extremely difficult to to make everyone happy. The movie may have the Dragon Born be supportive of the Empire but a Nord or allied with the Storm Clokes and a wood elf. Not only that personally I would rather have The Dragon Born be a woman. I think it would be a nice change of pace but I can understand if the Dragon Born was a male.
I just don't feel any TES game would make a decent Movie the only open ended world game I could see being turned into a movie would be L.A. Noire and even then there are shows that are pretty similar to the game anyway.
Maybe The Elder Scrolls would make a good TV series but other than that I wouldn't support a movie, no offense but I just don't find it to be a good idea.

I saw the first movie, and that was enough. It was awful compared to the book. It's perfectly understandable to condense a story and characters when creating a movie from a novel. but they went the other way and created crap that wasn't there.

Game of Thrones is a decent series because it is based on books with a great plot.(the first 3 anyway) Skyrim would make a lousy movie because it is based on a game with a boring and generic plot.

So he wants the responsibility of ruining the series himself. A bit like the captain for the Titanic.

Quite a few movies based on video games are actually pretty good. I enjoyed Doom & Resident Evil anyway.

Don't ever mention Paul W.S. Anderson. He is the worst filmmaker in the known universe.
