A Movie

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:58 am

ok I don't know if anyones posted this in the past but wouldn't it be kind of cool to see this whole thing as a movie. I mean everyone just sees the dragonborn as the guy in the commercial so and I think most the fans accept that but seriously the game would look awesome as a movie following a few of his companions who do the guild quests so we see those in the end. Yet seriously an epic battle between dovahkihn and alduin on tv would be nice.

I think it would give TES a bad rap, since. historically, movies based on video games tend to be awful.

Nah, just get Peter Jackson to film it and it would rock. On a side note Hitman the movie wasn't too bad.

Honestly LOTR by peter jackson did an awesome way of personifying the books. One of the few movies that deserves to be compared to the book.

Your opinion I guess. I'm just not into movies with flat, cliche characters and a ridiculously convoluted plot.

Back to the topic...if a skyrim movie was to be made it would either be a huge hit or a huge bust...but I would go see it

Yeah.. it would quite a project, considering how short the storylines are.

Unless they made an original story.

Well the bad part is what part of the game do you follow?

Some cry Companions, some Dark Brotherhood. I personally think a trilogy could easily be done and maybe the first one can show a little more as to how the dovakhiin was captured. I can easily see the movies depicting the MC going interacting in some way with all the guilds.

The storylines aren't short... have you timed yourself on the main storyline? I'm sure you didn't beat it in 2 hours while actually engaging in the RPG did you?

The game can easily be made into a movie. It's just a matter of getting the characters right. That is where the problems tend to be... characters fail to look good.... and one example would be the dragon ball z movie...

I don't think so, but i pretty sure it would break box office like for Avatar and all those other movies.

I mean have you see how many views the trailer has? How many user made videos of Skyrim? Also the sales for Skyrim are big.

I would go watch for sure. I would take my GF *even though she hates movies like this* and my family.

Skyrim itself could translate well to cinema... It has all the length, depth and dialogue of pond scum. I don't think much would be lost.

historically, movies based on video games tend to be awful.

Very true, yet the one movie I really enjoyed was, Silent Hill. Never played the game series, but the film I thought was well done by itself.

I could see the opening being very cool. Showing Ulfric Stormcloak hastily riding to Solitude, and then the whole bit with murdering the High King and escaping.

PoP was in my opinion terrible when you compare it to the game, there is very little left of the original story.

The idea of a TES / Skyrim themed movie makes me cringe.

It sounds petty, but I think something like that would completely kill the series for me. I don't think i'd ever be able to look at TES lore / culture the same way again.

Tomb Raider was passable, but PoP? That was ... not good.

Still if a Skyrim movie had the budget of LotR and a decent director who was also a fan then it might work.

agreed. Movie to video game and vice versa VERY rarely turns out well, especially with vid game to movie.

Were you drunk? There has only been one decent video game movie in my opinion, Silent Hill. It was close enough games but original enough for my liking. But there were two problems with that film. Sean Beans god-awful American accent and the legacy it left behind with the two really bad games that followed effectively ruining the franchise.

I think the first Mortal Kombat was... decent. Especially if you nostalgia for 90's. Skyrim movie would svck, especially if they followed the plot from the game. If it was completely different and set a few years after, and AFTER all the DLC took place, and had a really good writer and director and a great budget, I still wouldn't expect more than a satisfactory movie.

I think it would be better off as a series...Like band of brothers, or the walking dead. Hour long episodes, or something like that. Compressing this story into 2 hours is like trying to fly a 747 up to a Mcdonalds drive thru.

A movie without a plot is BORING. Also, seriously, can't you just play the game?! I remember people saying the same thing about DOOM, and look what we got. A bad (really bad) movie without a plot.

This would be like a home video of somebody working out at a gym and calling it a documentary.
