Muffle & Resist Poison (Disenchanting)

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:40 pm

I was wondering if anyone knows where to find items with these enchantment effects for disenchanting purposes. These have been the only items/enchanting effects that have eluded me and I'm starting to wonder if they even exist in the game for disenchanting.

The thing is that I've found every other randomly generated enchantment, but these two are the only ones that seem to never be in stock. Never. Is there maybe a more guaranteed way to find these enchantments? Does anybody know?

I've seen both, and both are 100% random. I haven't a clue where you could go about finding these items more readily, other than crossing your fingers. Can the forge do anything to create them, maybe?

There's a difference between random and some merchants not having them in their sell/loot tables.

Have you seen merchants sell them? If so, which merchants (If you remember)? It's possible that only some merchants sell these items (While still being random). I'm not sure what you mean when you speak about the forge.

I have a necklace of Resist Poison 50% but I'm sorry I don't remember where I got it. I'd have to guess random loot but it was a while ago and I'm at Level 39 now.

I found Muffle boots early on in my PS3 game in loot but I had to look for a long time in my PC game before I found some from a merchant. It might have been in Windhelm...maybe the used goods guy? Sorry I can't be specific.

I've been looking for both of these myself. Got lucky tonight. My level 37 found Ebony Boots of Muffle at the Blacksmith (B..... whassissname) in Solitude.

Do you have the Treasure Hunter perk?

Nope. I was using the "check all the vendors over and over until I find the darn things" perk.

merchants that sell armor such as blacksmiths have them in their tables. its a randomly created affix. some of their gear will have randomly generated affixs, muffle, water breathing, alteration, conjuration, destruction, etc are all randomly generated affixes that may appear.

Are you just taking a guess or is there concrete evidence on that? I'm just wondering because I've reset several Blacksmiths for a long period of time over and over and I've yet to find any boots of muffling.

I don't know what to say, really. Is it possible that there's some sort of hidden check? Like you need to have done X for X items to appear? Or it is possible that they stop appearing after X level? I've bought many things from the Blacksmith in Windhelm and he's never had any type of boots of muffling (And I've checked).

It's just that it's really irritating because I'm trying to get all the enchantments but I've hit this roadblock that I can't seem to pass. And I've been at this roadblock for quite a while.

there is a check for some such as they wont appear in the random list until at least X level. but otherwise its like i said earlier, random is random. and that can svck.

I had a similar issue with stamina regeneration until the merchant in riverwood sold me one.

as you level up, the amount of possible modifiers increases so your odds of seeing any single modifier might actually decrease because youre drawing from a larger pool. modifiers should not disappear after hitting a certain level so keep searching.

I'm level 77 and i have still yet to find a boots of muffling.

That's the issue here. I'm thinking that there might be some bug and that certain items (In this case, Resist Poison and Boots of Muffling) stop appearing after you've reached a certain level. I've only been searching for these items at or near the level cap and they haven't appeared. Doesn't matter if I reset a merchant 200 times or if I travel around looking in multiple merchant inventories.

This wouldn't be the first time that being at the level cap has harmed me. Being at the level cap also prevents "The Wolf Queen Awakened" from being initialized because the trigger for the Courier is to level up (Something which you can't do when you're at the level cap ... >.< ). I've been looking this whole time for boots of Muffling or Necklace of Poison Resistance/Immunity and I've got zilch. Nothing. Nada. *Shrugs*

I've never seen muffle on anything.
But as for resist poison theres not a whole to of point to learning it, the base necklace is 100% but even at enchanting 100 with a grand soul you can only get it to around 25% resist, bug in how it works where it should have been a flat off buff like waterbreathing it works it out like magic and element resists.

Actually beginning to wonder is when you start a new game it decides then what enchantments are commonly sold, restarted alot and on some games I won't find a type anywhere yet restart and nearly all merchants will have them but then others seem to be rarer. Like fortify alchemy I couldn't find it anywhere to buy but I restarted and riverwood had one then the khajit outside whiterun had one too and there was one for sale in white run.

It's mainly the completionist in me that wants to find these effects. I might be able to make use of them later, but for now the sole reason is that I want to complete my enchanting effects list. I've left it unfinished for quite some time now and I just can't fathom why I haven't come across any items that contain muffle or resist poison.

Because I had this eerie feeling, I decided to spend perk points on the whole Sneak tree. I then proceeded to do what I've been doing normally to try to find Boots of Muffling and ... O.O There it was, Orcish Boots of Muffling (@Windhelm Blacksmith).

I'm not entirely sure if this is placebo or not. Although it does seem like a strange coincidence. I try to find Boots of Muffling for quite some time now, then the minute I spent perk points on the Sneak tree, it appears within 10 minutes or so. Now I wonder if it's placebo or if it's a hidden requirement for Boots of Muffling to appear.

Can anyone here confirm that they've bought Boots of Muffling without spending perk points in the Sneak tree? This just seems way too coincidental.

My level 37 character who found the boots on the blacksmith in Solitude has no perks in sneak.

Since Muffle is only found on one item type - boots - it will be rarer than enchantments found on 2-4 different item types.

I found Muffle boots with no perks in Sneak also.

Edit: I checked and I did have the first perk.

i bought a pair from a blacksmith and disenchanted em..so yeah you can buy em...but i don't seem around much...i've prob only seen em a few times total but i did buy mine so they are an item that merchants sell. you might have to be a certain level.
