Music That Leaves You in Awe

Post » Sat Jul 02, 2011 10:40 pm

Some music is just great, however, some music is so complicated and hard to play that it blows your mind away. Post some videos of amazing musicians wailing out on their instruments or a complicated piece. Music Videos or Live Videos would be best, but recordings are fine to. Explain if you would like.

Dragonforce gets a lot of flak for apparently not being good enough at performing their stuff live. I don't really care though, as long as they can turn their vision into a finished product. It's music, not a competition.

If I'm honest most of Muse's songs (especially their older ones like the two above) always leave me awe not because they're my favourite band but because they're very eargasmic :P

Muse was playing at a festival I went to when I was about 15. I wasn't fussed by them being there, but watched them perform anyway. They ended up being one of the best performances there for me (and Guns n Roses were on the bill too) - Jesus Christ can they put on a show!

^^Unleashed by Epica. The singers voice is just breathtaking, and the song is just so powerful <3

^ The Crusade By Trivium; not the hardest song to play ever, but I can listen to it for hours

Also I couldnt find it on YouTube, but the song "Slain By The Serpent" By The Red Shore. I tried to learn it once, and the guitar absolutly kicked my ***. It is absolutely rediculous.

Edit: Between the Buried and Me has some technical masterpieces as well ^.^ I suggest checking them out

There seeems to me like a lack of techno in here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPbNHimE6Tg (need good speakers for it to be downright amazing. plenty of bass, treble, and a little softer in the mid. just the way i like it, plus I love the stairway.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoPplpBPQxQ

And finally, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw

My little techno faves, even though i do like other styles.

Some of the best song writing and instrumental parts I've ever heard in music. Also, any thing by Dethklok. Gene Hoglan is unhuman...

Agreed :). I watched them at a festival a year ago (I already loved Muse though :P) and it's the best concert I've ever been to (not that many but still...).

Got a few that do. Mostly guitarists.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGKOir9KJ4E&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGykrC-I21A Also the guy playing keyboard and guitar in the middle somewhere.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl81Mq4llZg Playing starts at about :36.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCsLV5jdWzI

I second the George Kolias as well.

I also have one singer that just amazes me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ritMOCf17dw The song is long so I'm sure you won't listen to the entire thing but there are a number of epic parts in it..the first 5 minutes. 7:30-7:40 has one of the highest notes I heard sung by a male in a song..in full voice. And 10:53 is basically a meme. Another thing that amazes me about him is he could do it live too.

In terms of instrumental technique, I'm pretty floored by guys like Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Waters, Fredrik Thordendal, Morgan Agren, Sean Reinert. In terms of music that's complicated not just in terms of instrumental technique, but also compositionally, Gentle Giant is up there for me for their masterful counterpoint. And then there are things like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Byw-_erRGGQ which are just jaw-dropping.

Her voice is mesmerizing.

She is North American born but her Japanese is flawless. She does both wonderfully. Listen to Deliverance of the heart first. ~Me Gusta~
