Name Your Favorite Radio Song

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:57 am

I don't know the title, but it has the line "Get outa here / Get me some money, too."
Probably because the first time I heard it it was in Who Framed Roger Rabbit - a slow, slinky, sultry version sung by Jessica Rabbit. :hubbahubba: Now I can't help but think of it as "The Jessica Rabbit Song." Wish they were using that version.

I love Radio New Vegas, and my absolute fave is Heartaches By The Number, followed by Ain't that a Kick in the Head in second place.

I love Johnny Guitar and find myself singing along without realizing it.......even if I don't know the lyrics and my singing voice is nonexistent. Also, I love any song from the Ink Spots.

I haven't grown too tired of "Big Iron" or the odd "Johnny Guitar" yet. But generally I don't listen to the radio much either, since they're all starting to lose their efficiency after being played so many times. Oh, and I just HATE the song with the miserable falsetto in the end, "It's a sin to tell a lie" or whatever it's called. "When you say 'I love YOUUUUUUUUU'", it just drives me insane, and I want to kill something in real life everytime I hear it. Did someone actually think that sounded good back then?

Blue Moon is a great song, but the version in the game just doesn't fit the mood of the song. So, I'll have to go with Lone Star. Love the tune, and the vocal harmony. Why Don't You Do Right comes in at a close second after that.

Big Iron. I romanticize old west showdowns a bit too much.

I know, I HATE that song as well.
It's the only song I've heard by the Ink Spots that isn't wonderful.
They knew it sounded terrible, but it was *fashionably* terrible. Like with heavy metal; it's just screaming, and it sounds AWFUL, but people like it. They won't in another fifty years.

What's your favorite song playing over the airwaves of New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland?

I'm a svcker for "Big Iron." In my current (first) playthrough, my character specializes in guns, mostly side arms and rifles, so every time Big Iron comes on the radio, I feel like it's talking about some distant ancestor of my character.

Oh yeah, "Big Iron" is the best. I liked it so much I downloaded a few other songs by Marty Robins.

I'm a svcker for Heartache by the Numbers. I really do like the music, there just isn't enough songs.

"I'm moving out" I like too.

Don't you want to sing along?

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/I%27m_Movin%27_Out#Live_Version

Tell me what's in a kiss
If your heart's not in it
We could have wedded bliss
If we'd only begin it

I'm feelin' low down
You know what I'm talkin' about
You let the blues move in, now I'm movin' out

This old house ain't a home
With no love inside it
We set out pretty strong
Now we just can't fight it

I'm leavin' today
I don't want to argue or shout
You let the blues move in, now I'm movin' out

What's the use in buyin' a car
If you won't buy gasoline
We used to be two under par
Now we can't get on the green

I don't know where it went
But it sure went a-flyin'
Love's like dough that's been spent
Now there's no use a-cryin'

Tell me where can I go
East or west or north or due south
You let the blues move in, now I'm movin' out

What's the use in buyin' a car
If you won't buy gasoline
We used to be two under par
Now we can't get on the green

I don't know where it went
But it sure went a-flyin'
Love's like dough that's been spent
Now there's no use a-cryin'

Tell me where can I go
East or west or north or due south
You let the blues move in, now I'm movin' out
You let the blues move in, now I'm movin' out

Fallout Wiki has all the songs on youtube with lyrics.

Big Iron... However I have been a huge Marty Robbins fan for awhile now.

As for songs that where new to me I rather like Jingle Jangle Jingle...

Oh and song where the chick sings I know I ain't a school girl... I like that song, but for the longest time I thought she was saying she aint a cougar... Those few lines totaly changes the way the song feels :)

Big Iron isn't bad, but I do agree it plays too much.

On the music radio there's that one song the guy sings about Texas, the name escapes me. That's tied for my favorite.

Oh my F-ing God why has no one mentioned "Sit and Dream"

"Sleep, go to sleep. Just lay down your weary head.
Dream, sweetly dream. Dream about tomorrow instead.
Sleep, go to sleep. Whisperin' a lullaby tune.
Dream, sweetly dream. Swinging with the man in the moon."

"Why don't you go. Down where the sandman plays
And take it slow. Cause you can doze all day
And don't you know. That when you finally wake
All your lovely dreams will come true."

I really like it with The Day that Never Comes starts playing. Mainly because I didn't replace one of the more frequently looped songs so it's pretty rarely played. Most of the time Mr New Vegas keeps looping the same four songs...which amount, on my game, to Still Alive, a BRM V16 screaming along, One and Master of Puppets.

Oh, yes, I replaced the music. The stock stuff got real old real fast.

I'm a metal fan, but the thought of people playing Fallout to Metallica or whatever rather depresses me. Talk about butchering the atmosphere.

 How the hell does it butcher the atmosphere? When I have the metal going I'm way more immersed in the game than when I have the pipradio turned off and a real life radio on because, to me anyways, the 50's era music svcks so bad it annoys me. I simply can't listen to it. That's not helped much by Mr New Vegas looping the same five crappy songs endlessly. At least with Three Dog it was bearable as he tossed things up a bit, despite his pathetic library, though even then I replaced the library with rock after a couple of playthroughs.

The atmosphere, for me, is butchered way more when I don't replace the music than when I do. When I don't replace it I oft end up turning on some sort of real life radio, and the constant DJ pvssyr and real-world commercials for weight loss pills and mesothelioma lawsuits shatter the atmosphere of the game. The game is so well built that it doesn't need crappy period music to set the atmosphere. It does that fine all on it's own.

Fair enough, I'm not attacking your right to listen to whatever you want, but: the aesthetic of the game is a world that never progressed beyond the cultural norms of the 1950s. It's Norman Rockwell, white picket fence America gone bad, this is a world where the sixties counter-culture never happened. Heavy Metal is a genre of music that didn't exist until the late sixties at the very earliest (more seventies really). So personally I'd find it incredibly jarring, much as I'd find listening to techno or hip-hop whilst playing jarring for the same reasons, despite being perfectly happy listening to either in another context. But you can listen to whatever you like, it's your game to do what you like with.

I don't listen to the radio much myself, but I love the ambient music in the game so for me it's no biggie.
