It seems like the more i find out about the NCR the less i like them. Im very close to declaring open war on them. Anyone else aligned themselves against the NCR?

This is what Obsidian were going for. You're meant to question whether any faction has the best interests of Vegas in mind. NCR are probably the best faction for 'good' players but they're not saints by any stretch. They tread on the ordinary man a little too much.

NCR are probably the best faction for 'good' players but they're not saints by any stretch.

If you must choose a faction at all, of course.

Assuming you're playing a good character and have the future of the Mojave desert in mind, NCR is not a faction you should align with. If, however, you care about restoring some semblance of democracy and government to the general wasteland, they're not a bad choice. A "neutral" one, if you will.

Spoiler
I'd say Mr. House is as good as it gets when aligning yourself with a faction, which surprised me as I expected him to stab you in the back once he got what he wanted. And outside of that, putting someone like The Kings in charge is the way to go. The people in control of the NCR are just power hungry warmongers who would not think twice about starting a war that would doom mankind... again.

Personally I view Mr house as the good guy, he plans to enforce order and rebuild, ncr are just after power, they dont really care and for some reason at the end
Spoiler
They kick the followers of the apocalypse out, the people who give treatment and help, why the hell would they do that ?!

Still better than the legion.

Aside from there view on women in society and slaves they don't seem to be all that bad however I didn't do any of there quests so I don't all of there dirty secrets. I felt the same about NCR once I sided with them but I do agree that Moore was the main reason for my sudden change in opinion. It won't surprise me if the same happens when I side with Legion my next time through. A saving grace will be if I get a chance to take a shot at Kimball if I side with Legion though I doubt I get that opportunity.

I didnt mind the legion so much until I met Caesar (or Kaizaaaar if you listen to the in game dialogue). That guy is an arrogant bookworm. He achieved his status by exploiting the courage and beliefs of others. It would be one thing if he had taken the field during the battles to "absorb" all of those tribes, but im betting he sat in his command tent and awaited the outcome.

As far as NCR is concerned. Lets take chief Hanlon as an example, I heard all about how he was the hero of the battle for hoover dam and his rangers were the key to victory. I was excited to meet him and thought "ya, im backing the NCR all the way" . Then i find out about his false intelligence reports and attempts to destablilize his own troopers morale as a solution for ending their occupation of the region (which incidentally he knew would end in defeat). True, in theory, alot less Rangers would die on the dam this way, but demoralizing your troops before the "big game" just seems insane to me.
(FYI, i let Hanlon live at the end of that quest, but i was tempted to give him the business end of the dinner bell). I think thats where i lost faith in the NCR.

I'm the same way. I started off liking the NCR but every time I hear their troops whining, I hate them a little more. Same old californian/hippie attitudes, letting emotion, bureaucracy, and fragile self-esteem getting in the way of what needs to be done. Its the end of the world, mankind is on the endangered list, and they wanna cry about a few inconsequential massacres. Priority ONE is continuing the race, including housing, food and electricity. Sadly, democratic ideals come far down the road of species survival.

Regarding the views on women, if you study socioeconomic history, you will find that gender equality is all but impossible until society reaches a point of much more advanced and available science. Democracy needs to be established first, then move science to a point where womens natural talents are as valued as mens.

I hate the NCR! Those pests have gotten to big to keep themselves controlled. Every time i see them; they need my help. Yet the legion is doing fine without my help. I am a good character yet I rather side with the Legion then the NCR.

That is untrue. Many ancient (and some current, thou mostly Islanders) culture have gender equality. In fact quite a few are matriarchal. Democratic and Despotism has little to do with Social Structure. You can be in a democratic country and have little to no social equality (like pre-sufferage, or pre-civil rights movement U.S.). or you can be in a monarchy and have significant social equality (like Cyrus of Persia).

I also think Mr. House is the "good guy" faction in NV. I like how Obsidian makes the player think he's evil during your first impression of him, and even gives us a bunch of quests to pressure us into killing off Mr. House. But if you don't give in to the pressure, you'll find he isn't evil at all.

You know, it would really help if the Legion actually had sympathetic characters. NCR has hundreds while House actually has a somewhat noble goal (rebuild civilization), but although Caesar is definitely fascinating, he never makes you believe he's the hero.

Yes, the NCR needs help. So does the Legion. And Mr House. and the Brotherhood of Steel. and the King of freeside.

Face it. If no one needed your help, you wouldn't have much of a game.

the NCR is like communism... good in theory... in practice though, they just step all over the lowly common people. When i saw they had sharecropper farms.. well, if anyone knows history, sharecroppers never benifited from their hard labor, only the people lending them the land. The people working it just had enough to "get by"

however on the other hand, ceasars legion is just a bunch of psychos. After you see what happens at that one town... i cant remember the name, i lost all faith in them. plus ceasar is arrogant. And in comparison to the real roman empire... well they arnt nearly as strong or organized.

The great khans are fine, but their leader will believe who ever sounds the most convincing, without actually looking into it. (one of those people who can bend him are you)

the brotherhood of steel in this game is a bunch of psychos also, who just live in seclusion and do almost nothing. Plus their base looks like an enclave base. whats with that?

Mr house to me wants to control everything. He even says he will be a dictator if you question him on it. The thing is though, he has the brains to do it, and he actually worked his ass off to even be close to something like he is shooting for. His vision may be good, but how long untill he falls into corruption? thats the problem with dictators. A life long ruler who never dies?

This game is amazing because everything is in the grey. Every good has evil and every evil had good.

Also i have a question,
is there anyway to F over ALL of them, and take over vegas, the dam, and all of mr houses robots, making YOU the one who controls everything? cause i tried but couldnt figure it out.
