(We) I need cheats for the consoles!

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:43 pm

Yes you read the title and it's what I want. Once you reach a high level or want to try out a new kind of character it's always the same story. You have to train for ages to get your level higher. Or if you want to try something new you have to restart from the beginning and hoping your new build is what you want.

So I would ask to have some cheats available to people who completed the game/ earned all trophies or disable them. Either way I'd enjoy my game much more if I didn't had to grind every character I have in the hopes it turns out want I wanted from the beginning.

Now I ask of you to stand with me or against me. And tell me why you also want cheats or why you don't want them at all.

Anyway OP I have never been able to really make that work even on the PC. I play my characters in very restrictive ways, for example my Warrior will never join the Thieves Guild, my Assassin will never care about the Civil War, etc. I always restart new characters and focus them on what I want them to be good at. To be honest I find the game more enjoyable at lower levels anyway. If I did play a character up to 50+ level and suddenly wanted to change them from a Warrior to a Mage, I just don't see how that would even work. For one thing I would never know what it's like to play a low level mage, which I might add is a LOT different than playing a high level mage. Building the characters up is half the fun.

I play like this too. But I don't want to grind to achieve greatness = lvl 81. I want to know how it play's like and with cheats I would create many more character's.

To me, playing the game IS starting new and building your skills, and DEVELOPING a good character. So, no...I would not have any use for cheats.

Oghma Infinitum / Fortify Restoration potions

This. And there are many exploits available for console users.

You can make infinite money quite easily with Alchemy or Enchanting and use the money for training.

You can get free training from followers.

You can level up most magic schools to 100 in less than an hour as soon as you get your enchanting leveled up.

You can level up your archery and sneak to 100 by sneak attacking friendly NPCs.

Console users need cheats to fix bugs and broken quests.

I'll never understand people whose only goal is to make an über character and slay everything that comes their way. Games like Skyrim offer so much more! Roleplaying is the way to go, not cheats.

You don't have to grind. Create several specialized characters and every playthrough will be new and exciting.

While I agree the console comman could be useful, I think it's because of the things it can fix. For example, the ceremonial axe bugged in a quest I did. I need it to continue onwards. so I use the console to spawn one into my inventory and leave the buggy one on the wall. All is good.

To me nah, consoles dont need console commands because u upset the balance between consoles and PCs as far as tes games. PC get mods, better grpahics, and console commands where as console user spends less on thier conzole to which we spend on our PCs, get content a month early, and have the game made strickly for the console to which is then ported to PC.

Sounds fair.......snicker

But in all honesty, yes itd be nice for buggy stuff, but it wont for concoles because we are rewitting the game on PC by using the commands to which either I dont think would possible on consoles seeing how u have to go into the game files themselves though I could be wrong, but also wheres the carrot for PCs users? Gotta make it fair across the board to which there should be equal perks on both totally different machines. But as far as cheats, theres alrdy glitches in the game that u can use tp get said toon to where u want them stat wise.

I don't mind grinding at all. Instant gratification is bad. On my current character I have enchantments at exactly 100% reduction cost to all spells so I can cast anything for free (rarely use magic though), and though it's an exploit, I feel I earned it due to the insane amount of time I spent mixing restoration potions, enchanting potions and fortify alchemy enchantments to be able to mix a potion at just the right potency so I didn't have insane amounts of reduction.

However, I wish there was a weapon duplication, and a way to keep quest items you're forced to hand in.

Still shouldn't there be any? Everybody has their understanding of "fun". While one person likes roleplaying the other want's to be a walking apocalypse.

I don't mind too much on a first and sometimes second character, but after at least once I just want to be a tourist. I got a Black Mage to 75 in FF XI so I'm no stranger to "grinding".

Lack of developer console access on game console platforms does not imply preferential treatment for the Glorious PC Gamer Master Race™, but is simply a tool the creators of the game left in.

Skyrim was not programmed on an Xbox or a PS3, it was made on a PC. And the "cheat codes" are really debugging tools, nothing more.

Id point ya to the graphics and the ui that was controller friendly and hell on a keyboard to which I believe it WAs made for console users. Granted the only info out is on the sales on consoles since steam isnt to keen on giving out numbers, only that it outsold more than any other game.

The UI is okay on the console... until you want to get to items you stored in a container. Then it becomes one big cluster.

I don’t need cheats to avoid grinding. I just play the game. No grinding necessary. Why do something boring just to get your level higher? To me that's like skipping the game.

For the record, I still want console commands. It'd be nice to be able to fix some of the things that Bethesda is never going to patch (I will never get my Jeweled Pitcher in the Ragged Flagon, which bothers me to no end).

They should either give us the ability to console on the console, or they should patch the game until all of their bugs are fixed.

Better yet, don't release a game until the bugs have been worked out.

It's not Beth saying "no" to consoling consoles - it's the console manufacturers (according to friends who have consoles - I don't have them....) Along with "no third party stuff like mods" is what I was told.

Yeah. The OSes on consoles are more like BIOSes than an OS on a PC.

Thats not the issue, the Sony and Microsoft purposely have not allowed it. They don't want you to being able to access the gamedata files for piracy concerns. If those measures weren't in place one could copy the gamedata over to your PC install mods and then put the game data back. But I believe I have figured out a way console manufacturers could set up a system to allow 3rd party mods without compromising the consoles security. Cloud Servers, the mods folder for your games would be stored online and then synced to your PSN or Xbox live account. You would then upload your mods for Fallout 4 or The Elder Scrolls VI to that cloud server.

Now to the issue of the developers console window. This couldn't have been implamented on the ps3/360. Its been done, in the game Two Worlds and Two Worlds II. You can enter a button combination while paused that will open the console window. You then enter a command that will disable achivements/trophies while enabling the rest of the commands to function.

Correct. Sony and Microsoft make the OSes so they cannot be accessed and utilized like a PC OS.

You make the implication that its a technical limitation{intended or not} and not a security feature like encryption, password etc, which can confuse the issue. People using certain illegal modifications for their ps3 which allows them to perform the act of software piracy are capable of installing mods onto the games.
