Need Help Deciding on my Third Steward

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:49 am

I can't decide on a Steward for Lakeview Manor. Heljarchen is my main home and has Marcurio, Gregor and Vilkas. I was so happy to finally get Iona out of Honeyside by making her Steward of Winstad with Valdimar, and made up a little story of the two of them finding love and being happy there.

For Lakeview I was thinking of Arenea because she's a fellow Dunmer and Azura devotee and I always wanted a way to get her down from the Shrine after she said she was lonely. Unfortunately this doesn't seem possible so am now thinking of match making for Rayya.

Out of the options for Steward I have left, I cannot decide who would be best. If I could help an NPC who needs gainful employment or romance with a Redguard woman I would be happiest. :P Any suggestions? P.S: All of the followers in the game are still alive except Lydia and Eola. And I'm a Vampire, so no Dawnguard followers.

i tried with Ahtar, straight away, and was disappointed, but i dont think the racial divide would bother Roggi, tho.i matched Vilkas with her,i figured she could teach him a thing or two about a milk drinker,Adelasia or Uthegard could work.....and i dont remember if Benor or what Orcs will take the job of steward.

I don't much fancy a jailor and executioner. :P I really like Roggi though. Uthgerd is out because in my game she has no shoes. :P (don't ask what possessed me to pick pocket her shoes, because I don't know). I even gave her new shoes when she was a follower, but when not a follower she still has no shoes. She needs to stay safely indoors in the Bannered Mare. Adelaisa is also pretty cool, but she is a regular at The New Gnissis Cornerclub, and I like to see it bustling when I visit.

I also prefer Vilkas for Lakeview Manor if he is an option.

Vilkas is my Heljarchen steward who still makes surprised comments about me being the Harbinger. Too bad I didn't stick him in Lakeview where I'd hardly see him. I am only using the other 2 houses as places to grow plants since I don't get there within the 10 day respawn, so all the stupid clutter comes back and drives me nuts. I am thinking of Winstad as a place I technically own but it's really the home of Valdimar and Iona now. If Lakeview could be the home of Rayya and a significant other that would be cool.

If you can find the exact same kind of shoes and give them to Uthgerd, that will fix the problem. Had a similar issue with Marcurio, I wanted him to always wear the better robes I got him, so bought his original from him and sold them (couldn't remember where). That stymied me for the longest time, because when not following me, he ran around in his skivvies and boots. LOL He looked pretty good too, but he needed to wear some d@mn clothes! Finally found a set like his original and sold them to him, problem solved.

Roggi looks pretty good. I don't need a steward for Winstad yet, as it's only the small house, but if I decide t enlarge I will need to decide on one.

Belrand would be ok, but in RL I cannot stand seeing a bald guy with long hair all around. Bald is good, bald with short hair is fine, long hair is fine.....but bald with long hair is as bad to me as a guy wearing shorts, sandals, and socks....worse yet, with black socks! I would be nuts just looking at him after a while, wanting to cut that hair off, no matter how good his abilities.

I know, I'm horrible.....

My second character built Lakeview before she finished the Companions questline, so she inflicted Rayya with Calder, Calder could seriously use some personality. Braggen lost no time shipping his Calder off to the blades, Aussie hardly visits Lakeview, so that was the best she could do to get rid of him.

I am really liking the idea of Erik having his own home and a dual wielding hottie to hang out with. And hopefully he will also get some adventure with invading giants and such. I don't mind Belrand and his aging rock-star hair, but in my game he sits with Lisette a lot in the Winking Skeever, and I don't want to break that up. :P all of the Orcs from Largashbur (Log, Ogol, Ugor) are needed to fend off the giant that attacks them every time I run through that cell.

Another thought I had was Golldir who is trapped hanging out at his family's tomb. I currently need to make him a follower for a bit so I can get his 2 notes. :P Anyone think he'd be a good choice?

Will Illia still be a follower? I thought there was something about her that was broken?

Correct. The downside to Illia is that she won't be able to follow you again. Personally, I find that to be relatively minor given that there's no shortage of followers in the game and I prefer to leave both my steward and housecarl at home anyway.

On the plus side Illia is formidable as hell when defending the house against attack. Her ranged attacks make for a nice complement to a housecarl's up-close-and-personal style. Her ice spikes helpfully light up corpses for you so you're not wandering around looking for where the bodies fell. And best of all, she has no annoying pvssyr. It's "Good morning" "Good afternoon", "Good evening", "Yes", "Need something?", "What do you need?" and that's pretty much the extent of it. With every other steward candidate, you get them constantly chirping about something specific to their character or the location in which you found them.

:D It was messing with the Perfect Touch perk that got me in this mess. I currently have 2 NPCs in my game that aren't wearing boots. I was experimenting with forcing NPCs to equip better gear with console commands, but it only works temporarily, and then they decide they don't need to wear anything at all. I'll try just giving her an identical pair first, and if that doesn't work I'll try reverse pick pocketing.

@Little Beard: I will have to go check if I've already asked Illia to follow me at some point (which I guess will mean she won't follow me again).

I'm gonna throw in another vote for Illia. Making her your steward means that at least she's of some use for you once you cannot hire her anymore, so if she's still available to you, go for it. Plus a mage always provides welcome backup for a melee fighter (Rayya in this case). In my game, I recruited her to the blades before getting HF and before knowing about the bug... but if I do another playthrough, I'll definitely make her steward in one of my homesteads.

i absolutely love Golldir,so much so that the only reason that i didn't choose him,was i didn't want him dieing protecting my house, lol.my illia got infected with the glitch to begin with, because i was going to choose her and found out about the glitch the hard way,so i chose Eola to pair with Valdamir.so are we down to Roggi,Golldir and Illia ?

I have Golldir as my steward at Heljarch, he is pretty good, though you have the mix of steward dialog and the dialog you have with him at the end of his quest. Not a lot of personality, but that seems to be more the norm for stewards. He did furnish my entryway pretty quickly, though I don't know if it was him or luck! lol

If I'm not mistaken, Illia's bug is fixed when she becomes your steward, so you only need to key in the console relationship rank thingie once. She's been my steward and the option to follow has always been there ever since she got the job.
