We need to know more about the Greatest Mage : V - Skyrim

A dragon priest? (correct me if I'm wrong) I wouldn't count ancient beings that have been around for 23958235 years. Lol, I'm talking more the greatest human mage.

Well Savos is a Dunmer but i get what you're saying. You want the strongest currently alive mage.

why is that true? If you are a great mage in a land very antimagic why would you want people to know of you, especially if you do things along the lines of necromancy and consorting with daedra. I did not even know of sarvos until someone in the college tol me about him. I heard of tavern in oblivion and divaeth fyr in oblivion, but not sarvos.

I see, you do have a point. It's interesting to note that his robes are the greatest robes you can find in game that you don't make yourself. Last I checked I never found a hood that gave me +70 magika on a random conjorer in a cave...

Fyr could still be alive, I mean why not? 200 years is nothing for him and I doubt the eruption killed him due to the fact he could probably teleport his island anywhere he wants. 200 years is like a year for a 4000 year old wizard, plus theres still could be better mages as far as we know.

I have a theory that when Mannimarco ascended to godhood he freed himself of his mortal body which was the one that got killed, just an empty husk that he used to do his work on Nirn.

This. I'd like to think that entertaining guy survived volcanic explosions in Morrowind.

But that STILL brings me to my point that he is the greatest currently alive mage. Even if they were handed down, they would have been handed down from the previous Archamge who would be DEAD already.

At the college. Don't think a great conjurer in a dungeon gets an item that could have been crafted by some of the greatest mages in tamerial. Sarvos is not necessarily a great mage if a great mage gives him a special pair of pants.

Doesn't mean he's the best. The four (?) Psjics that travel to Skyrim probably had more prowess in their fingers than Savos had throughout his body.

one had been in skyrim, so atleast for the small amount of time he was there he could indeed be the greatest mage in skyrim.

He doesn't have too, he is a god and not a daedra but an aedra, its kinda funny since his planet revolves around arkay, not sure if it was unintentional or as an insult to arkay.

Read the Warp in the West. That guy you fought may not have been Mannimarco.

Fair enough, I forgot it isn't explained if it is actually him or a pretender.

I was just thinking in the school of thought that the other Aedra cast him from Aetherius and he ended up back on Nirn.

Grand master wizard was suppose to be very good until she got killed. The others seem to be of varying quality and are usually very specialized. and of course their is sarvos like the op said, but we know nothing except he is archmage. Overall none are actually played off as really good mages, except the guy in the basemant. They give him somewhat of a reputation in the college, but he is disembodied so not sure he counts. Overall not sure any were truly great mages.

Thought this thread was gonna be about Shalidor.

Not really that disapointed, but yeah it would have been cool to learn more about Savos. It also would have been cool if Winterhold wasn't destroyed, and was actually a real city.

But we don't know. It would be presumptuous to say they're the greatest mages in Skyrim if we don't even know their whereabouts.

Speaking to the OP's point, while I'm not convinced we have enough information to say who is the most powerful, I'll agree that all of the master wizards, including Savos, at the college need to be fleshed out a little.
