We Need A New Quake

I say they leave stroggos for a while and go back to the original demonic quake. Add real story to it now and show that they can do a scary open world game. The strogg are awesome but they had enough games to their name now. They need to rest for a bit. Because then everything again becomes about space marines. Doom -> space marine, Quake -> space marine. If they go back to the original quake they can have the demonic stuff but say with a medieval setting.

So here is how it can be
Wolfenstien - > WW2 setting with Nazi demons/zombies
Doom -> Futuristic setting Demons
Quake -> Medieval setting with demons
Rage -> Post apocalyptic setting with mutants

It's all demons and mutants may be aliens in the mix for the new doom or rage :) but yea they will basically have all the popular environment settings in their franchises.

As far as MP is concerned. They should really amp up the "PRO" factor like in Quake 3. Make sure that every game of their is of E-Sport quality and that the dedicated get the rewards they deserve, not in terms of perks :(. Stay true to yourself id and don't follow the million zillion COD clones. I still love games like Battlefield and Quake for a reason, they didn't change their style for absurd number of sales *pointing to Crysis 2*.

Here is what the MP should be like
Doom -> not too sure, they can still create something unique because the first two were too old and the MP in the third one was an after thought
Quake -> Fast pace DM CTF CA DUEL etc etc, like quake live. This is QUAKE
Wolfenstein -> Enemy territory style gameplay
Rage -> Again something unique can be created.

My point is don't mix the styles like don't tack on Quake live like gameplay onto the new Doom or Rage give them a new style. Where as the old ones are concerned, don't try to make them unique as they already have their own identity. Quake gameplay shouldn't be mixed with that of wolfenstein.

This way each franchise maintains it's SP and MP identity and non id fans don't think of every id game as being QUAKE 3.

I would gladly pay for a new Quake version that matches the awesome-ness of the Shambler's Castle mod (level):

:mohawk: :mohawk:

Just find the author, get him a team, MAKE IT HAPPEN.

You could even keep in on ole Id Tech 4

Indeed we do. Eerily enough, this forum is quite desolate. Reminds me of certain "purged" levels from Quake 2 and Quake 4.

The Quake community was well established before this forum went up so I'm not surprised that it isn't heavily populated. I suspect if id announced a new Quake game, especially if they were the ones developing it, we'd see a surge of activity here - although given the well-established Quake forums elsewhere the activity would be spread around quite a lot.

With Doom 4 apparently id's next big game after RAGE if there is a new Quake title it will either be quite a ways off or developed by someone other than id. The latter isn't a bad thing, I loved Return to Wolfenstein (I haven't played Quake 4) and id makes sure they're involved in these projects even if they aren't the primary developer.

Quake 5 should go back to the roots - Quake I.

Quake I had the atmosphere and a story with great potential (for those times).
If anything Quake 5 can be a modern day re-imagining of Quake I.

The monster design, the level design, the atmosphere, the music were all excellent.

Exactly my opinion

Acordiing to Wikipedia:

John Carmack stated, at QuakeCon 2007, that the Id Tech 5 engine would be used for a new Quake game. He also stated that Quake (III) Arena would get a sequel at some point.

He was talking about quake live for the sequel to quake 3.

Anyway about the topic yes i think quake needs a new game, something that will bring back quake to be played on tournaments and famous again.
Kind of like starcraft 2 with bnet and ladders, with great graphics to attract new people to the series, better gameplay, new weapons, abilities etc all this balanced so not all the time same ability is used.
Oh and good spawns, what cripples duel mode is that the first spawn can give massive advantage to one guy, they should get a better way of solving that.
In other words get people involved in competitive quake, explain them how to get better and feeling at home with the community.
