We need the ability to shape shift.

Uh, oh... I'm suspecting foul play. Elves live for a long time, long enough to see both the Oblivion crysis and dragons. What if Dreth faked his death back in Cyrodiil, escaped the prison, changed name and fled to Skyrim? Wouldn't put past him. That means one thing. I have to wait for the CK to come out, edit in a marriage option for him and get engaged. Nothing more cruel for a Dunmer than getting to be the personal cook and house slave of an Argonian.

I killed him back then. No one survives my killing, especially not when I use Deadly Reflex to knock his head off. :vaultboy:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's ever been anything in TES lore to suggest shapeshifting is possible, other than into were-forms.
The Bosmer can shape shift into mythical creatures during the Great Hunt but when they do they are permanently changed and cannot change back. They also become incredibly violent, attacking everyone no matter what so they dont usually talk about it. The Great Hunt is used on rare occasions as a method of last resort to deliver justice against someone who has wronged them. As far as I know they are the only species to be able to shape shift naturally without magic or disease etc.

I took pity on the poor schmuck. One can only imagine what he has gotten from the Imperials in that prison which made him so spiteful. I used a follower mod, busted him out of the jail at the beginning of the game then we got married and adventured together. It was kinda hard to explain to the Dark Brotherhood but love conquers all.

Get it for PC, Wait for a mod! (and using the console commands lets you move around, but you cant attack as any NPC, tried, but im sure a modder will fix that!)

Excuse me if I'm wrong but I don't believe there was anything in TES lore until Skyrim to suggest Shouting was possible.

Actually there was. Talos with his Thu'um has been established lore since atleast Morrowind.

There is that College of Winterhold quest involving one of the apprentices ...

Witches can shapeshift. Wild Hunt Bosmer shift, there's some vague lore about Ayleids being able to shift. So yeah, its lore prevalent. Old school transmogrification was summon+invisibility.

In bloodmoon one of the glenmoril witches turns into a raven, chick in skyrim turns you into a horse, bosmer transform in the wild hunt.

What would you want to shape into and for what reason?

Lichform: While in this form all melee attacks carry the absorb life ability and a chance of slowing your target(effectiveness goverened by Alteration skill and damage dealt). Frost Spells deal 1.5% more damage with the chance of freezing your targets in a block of ice. Lichform will levitate bypassing pressure plates and allowing you to walk on water. Lichform also grants you 5 unique spells however while in this form your Magicka regen is lowered by 50% and you take more damage from Fire based spells.

Spells:

-Boil Blood: Target's blood begins to boil dealing damage over time. If your target dies while the effect is active, your target ruptures dealing extreme damage in a radius around them.
-Icy Touch: Nearby targets take Frost Damage and are encased in ice. After effect ends, enemies have the thawing effect and are slowed for 10 seconds.
-Invoke Shadows: Invoke shadows becoming invisible and muffling movement for x seconds.
-Lifetap: Transforms a portion of your Health into Magicka.
-Mass Hysteria: Fears living targets in a radius around the caster.

Oblivion had Lichform. Liches have always been a part of TES.

Spellswords need some loving. I find it frustrating that magic svcks so much unless you Enchant your armor Perk it to all high-heaven and Dual-Cast it. So much emphasis has been put on dual-casting, it more or less makes most hybrid specs not viable.

Ah then I am mistaken, but I strictly remember Being turned into several different forms by an apprentice at the college of Winterhold. That pretty much covers it.

Has there also been anything to suggest it is not actually possible?

I'd love to transform into an eagle and fly across the map. That is the way to fast travel

The ability to Shapeshift does exist in the Elder Scrolls but it is a rare ability and probably dangerous. The only mortals that I can recount that have exhibited this are the Glenmoril Witches and they have a unique relationship with Hircine.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but I don't believe there was anything in TES lore until Skyrim to suggest Shouting was possible.

A simple expansion could make it work, there's a lot of potential for a story arc involving it.
The book: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Children_of_the_Sky, talks about Shouting and has been around LONG before Skyrim was in production.
