We need the ability to shape shift.

It feels like the only thing that this game is missing (Magic wise) is the ability to shape shift, considering you can play as anything using console commands I see no reason not to do it. All it needs is a little tweak here and there and a skill tree.

Anyone agree this would be badass?

This makes sense as part of Alteration.

Thats only one thing and its a daily power. We need an entire tree for it.

TES is completely missing nature-based classes and spells. No clue why.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's ever been anything in TES lore to suggest shapeshifting is possible, other than into were-forms.

Lichform: While in this form all melee attacks carry the absorb life ability (effectiveness goverened by Alteration skill and damage dealt). Frost Spells deal 1.5% more damage with the chance of freezing your targets in a block of ice. Lichform will levitate bypassing pressure plates and allowing you to walk on water. Lichform also grants you 4 unique spells however while in this form your Magicka regen is lowered by 50% and you take more damage from Fire based spells.

etc.

This.

I would like it if they added werebears though, more variety.

The alteration magic school should be able to do a lot more than available now IMO, e.g. fortify combat skills, water walking or creating a physical barrier blocking the enemy. Just some ideas.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but I don't believe there was anything in TES lore until Skyrim to suggest Shouting was possible.

A simple expansion could make it work, there's a lot of potential for a story arc involving it.

What would you want to shape into and for what reason?

Well I assume there would be different forms for different effects; anything from shape-shifting into a chicken to be undetectable to being a dragon to bring on the pain.

Bethesda is creative, I'm pretty sure they could come up with hundreds of possibles.

Bosmer can, if we follow the Lore. Ever heard of the Wild Hunt?

Yes they are, and don't let other tell you otherwise.
They got the deepest lore I've ever seen in a game that isn't based on a book.

Stories in their world, about the Dwemer, their enslavement of the Falmer effectively crooking them to bestial forms, the creation, all the phanteons, CHIM...
You name it.

there is nothing in the lore that says it is impossible to shapeshift, but lets fix the spell system (bring back all the missing spells from oblivion and morrowind) before adding something to it

fine with the first line but the second? they'd give us bear, spider, wolf at best and possibly the atronachs as a master

As if I needed any more reasons to avoid Bosmers like the plague. I bet all of them are like Glarthir. A shape-shifting Glarthir.

Uh, oh... I'm suspecting foul play. Elves live for a long time, long enough to see both the Oblivion crysis and dragons. What if Dreth faked his death back in Cyrodiil, escaped the prison, changed name and fled to Skyrim? Wouldn't put past him. That means one thing. I have to wait for the CK to come out, edit in a marriage option for him and get engaged. Nothing more cruel for a Dunmer than getting to be the personal cook and house slave of an Argonian.
