In case you didn't know this the interview with todd howard has just been uploaded online and if you see some of the stuff that the vampire lords are getting you will realise how frustrating it will be for those choosing dawnguard.

I don't want to ruin it for everyone so watch it first and then comment. I'm sorry that I can't give a link to the video but I watched a live stream from the e3 website so it is no longer watchable through that way.

Well this dlc is about vampires so its only fair for vampires I guess. But still, there has to be something good for dawnguard!! I mean you have to get the elder scroll back from Harkon as a dawnguard so something good has to come up for you guys.

wkns, it's not even that, if you payed attention, there was a man with a crossbow entering the portal as well as a man with a crossbow on his back turning into a Vampire Lord, it is not confirmed that crossbows aren't Dawnguard only.

From what I heard Dawnguard players get their own fortress which seems pretty nice. Not sure if the same is true for vampires. Also I keep seeing the vampire player with a crossbow so I don't think it is exclusive to them.

The Dawnguard do get crossbows, but as a vampire you can still kill the dawnguard to get their armour and crossbows.

You sure about that Chap? I wouldn't mind killing them for a Crossbow and their armor, but it's just not what I expected. Maybe you can do the same as Dawnguard to the Vampires, only difference is you'll only be getting items, not a transformation (From what we know).

As others have mentioned, we haven't seen all that much of the Dawguard faction yet so thats not exactly certain. We basically just saw the Crossbows and entering their fortress, very little discussion of it. I saw a screenshot of a Dawnguard charging up what looked like an offensive Restoration spell, so that might be a possibility for spellcasters and hybrids.

Besides, being good shouldn't need to be motivated by increased powers lol, your character isn't very good if thats the only motivation.

The dawnguard might have some unique quest rewards that can only be gained though them. Maybe powerful armor, weapons, spells, etc.

Im prety sure they weren't Dawnguard only... but the trailer was trying its hardest to try to balance the two factions, and after seeing a VL summon a Gargoyle and run amok in riverwood, they reall ust had to say "well heres some good guys with crossbows"

I think earlier information said both sides can have a fortress, its just now they were telling us about how you can customise/upgrade them.

I bet they're showcasing the Vampire Lord stuff over the Dawnguard stuff so that there's some secrets and whatnot. Also, the Vampire Lord is so different from anything we've seen in Skyrim initially that it's much easier to show off because you can look at it in an instant and see what's different, which so far doesn't seem the case for the Dawnguard.

However, if it's true that the battle is between immortal Vampire Lords who are able to throw people over buildings, turn into bats, fly over water, and summon gargoyles, vs regular humans armed with crossbows... I know which side I'd rather be on.

I think that's being a bit too black & white about it. We haven't seen anything to suggest either side is evil just yet. The Vampires' goal is simply to change things. They want the sun gone, but not out of any malicious intent, it's about survival. The Vampire Lord form doesn't force you to go into towns and slaughter. If I'm reading all the info we're getting correctly, you can delve into all this undead power and still come out a hero if you choose to be one. If you unleash the form only against bandits, necromancers, etc. you're still a hero, just a darker one. Think Venom back when he had his own series. :biggrin:
