New Char Roll, dual maces?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:14 pm

Since 1.5 came out I figured I would roll a new dragonborn and was thinking about using maces. Does anyone have any experience dual wielding maces? Are there any good killcams for maces? I have started leveling one handed but havent taken any weapon specific perks yet until I get some feedback. I will be using stealth as well if that makes any difference (I am well aware that most stealth builds use daggers or swords) but I want to try something new, any thoughts?

I have little experience with the one-handed kill-cams, but I am under the impression that they have quite a few good ones. A few extra are added when dualwielding as well, unless I am mistaken.

I don't think kill cams are affected by weapon specific perks though.

Yeah, it looks the same as the Single one-handed sword decapitation animation, but still makes sense because it looks like you smash their head off o.o

Hmmm, so if I put 2 points in dual, I can speed up my dual swings, up to 35% faster....should help with the slower swing of my "drum sticks"......looks to be shapin up nicely

I don't think there's a soul in Skyrim that's seen him perform and disagreed.

Power attacks, and armoured dudes are going to be squished.

It's a good idea but keep in mind that there's not much variety of maces compared to swords and axes in this game.
Also, maces take up a lot of screen space, could get bothersome.

It only matters when they are drawn, most of the time they are sheaved. Variety stands for nothing when you want power, though it would have been nice to have more variety in end game gear.

Well, I stick to weapons I smith, so I would imagine I would have the same variety in maces as I have had with swords

The ignore armor perks are very powerful....you don't even need to smith, if you get all 3 perks and the armsman perks, you can take down the toughest draugr with little trouble.

By the way it's good to use an axe with the bleeding axe perks for those things that don't have armor. Remember undead don't bleed so you axe is worthless against them.

Oh and by the way, Molag Bol is your best friend if your going this path.

My warrior was a mace user and I loved it. Never have been a mace user in any game before this but Skyrim made it so much fun I couldn't resist. The kill cams are very nice especially the one where you smash them in the face. That was probably my favorite. It didn't bother me that I could decapitate them because it just looks like I knocked their head off which to me is feasible considering the other superhuman things my character is doing. Regardless I enjoyed it.

Hmmmm, it appears the problem with the bone breaker perk is that, even though enemies wear armor, they usually dont have any perks or high skill with the armor so the armor bypass is not very much.......but it sure would look cool seeing a dude in heavy armor stroll into town with dual maces........

True, I don't know much about how armour works for the AI in Skyrim, I have noticed bandit leaders take less damage and imagine its because they have heavy armour equipped.

Draugr, dragons, mudcrabs, bears - all monsters have 0 armor.

The only enemies with an armor value are those who actually wear armor, which means bandits most of the time, and they never wear more than steel or plated steel. Often they have a high light armor and low heavy armor skills while wearing heavy armor.
The Bonecrusher perks can safely be skipped for something more effective

Sadly there is no Sneaking kill-cams for One-handed Axes, Maces or any Two-handed stuff

Yeh...I'm quite bummed by this. I was hoping 1.5 would add some of those...but nope.

I'm currently playing a Forsworn using a single axe and bow. I want that sneak attack axe kill-cam.

im currently running a duel wield build with a Sword in left and Mace in Right hand...get best of both worlds...get sword swing speed, with Mace attack damage and armor piercing ability...and throw in Sword critical hit for added bonus....its pretty good.

How exactly does duel wielding work? Do you do the base damage with one weapon or do you have to swing both to do the base damage?
