New ideas, New features, New fun.

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 1:24 pm

Hey guys this is my first post so i thought i would start it off with an ice breaker. What sort of new things do you guys want to see happen? wheather its a mod or actual DLC? What kind of features would you like to see? would you like to see new shouts that turn you into a small dragon for our console fans? or maybe being able to own a store and actually invest time and gold into, where you can do quests to expand your contacts and possibly have to protect your traveling supplier/buyer from thieves or bandits, wheather or not its hiring muscle while your away or protecting them yourself? or perhaps expanding the smithing skill to pick between several different armor styles and weapons styles exp Deadric sword type 1/2/3 and same with armors as well, i feel that making many variants is a simple and very good way to keep the fans happy while expanding the game as well. Also have you ever wondered why you only see Nord or Brenton children? It upset me that i couldn't see a Khajiit child, sure we live in skyrim "Home of the Nords" but Nords Are not the only races living in skyrim we have Elves, Argonians, Khajiits ect.. One of my favorite things in TES:IV was " The Arena" i would like to see this come back in some form with extended features like, number of enemies 1-10, types of enemies, big wagers. As a console and PC player i have always wanted a more populated world for the console fans, i sometimes find myself lonely while walking from Whiterun to Riften with only a few Wolves, novice Fire Wizards and the occasional Dragon attacks, im not sure if this can be done on current gen consoles but in the near future would make it awesome. I am not sure about you guys but when i married "Alea the Huntress" i thought the whole marriage thing would be more expansive instead we got no extra dialogue except " has the store made any money" heavely expanding the marrige features would make me a happy Dovahkiin. These are just some ideas that have been running through my thoughts ever sence i sunk my first 100 hours on my beloved Skyrim......so let me know your thoughts!

1: Share thoughts and experiance

2: Be nice and polite

3: Have fun!

More spell variety, Spell creation, Dlc dealing with the thalmor, expansion on guild quest

I know most of those are unlikely but still...

Random Encounters while on the carriage. Like, instead of the game loading the stables of your hold you wind up on the road surrounded by Bandits or something. Make it more than Fast Travel you need to pay for... And spears! Spears are cool.

Someone except me still gives out these? Good, I thought the tradition had died out.

spears. definitely spears. also racial perk trees, make the race you choose actually have a significant effect on gameplay. second probably will never happen though, otherwise it would have been with release i bet. also artifacts that are more than merely curios. i never use any of them (except mehrunes razor) because the damage isn't all that impressive.
*edit*
Also spell creation/combination(with master perks, make those well worth it.), such as in some of the mod videos, heal spell+destruction spell=absorb health spell. or flame cloak+raise zombie= zombie w/ cloak.

I have some new forge ideas

1. Depending on how upgraded it is (fine, legendary) it would look different and better

2. A system where you could design your own unique weapon

I like that, and I think Dragon Age: Origins had a similar system where you had a chance of randomly encountering enemies when fast travelling. But, if you do encounter bandits whilst using a carriage, then they better drop good items else there is little use to use a carriage.

I actually like this idea, although I don't expect it to be added to Skyrim. The next TES game, perhaps?

While I'm not entirely sure how you'd level up a racial perk tree (maybe it wouldn't work like the rest of the skills. Every five levels you gain one point to put into a racial perk, perhaps?), but it sounds interesting none the less. For Altmer you could have ones that provide a large boost to your magicka pool, make it increase faster and ones that improve the effects of various schools of magic. Khajiit would probably gain ones that soften footsteps, allow night vision and the like. I can imagine them having a high level one that gives them detect life. Khajiit don't use their noses enough. ^^

Actually Arcanum, if anyone can remember back a little had an excellent system for random encounters while fast travelling that actually felt fun, rather than a hassle. Implementing something like that could be cool.

I guess I have to iterate the obligatory spears plea. Its not so much spears (though I am a diehard spear fan), it's the general lack of melee variety. As far as melee goes it seems to be "approach enemy and hack n slash until some one is dead or near dead, retreat, heal, rinse, repeat." regardless of actual style of melee. When so much of the game, in one way or another, revolves around neutralizing hostiles you would expect combat to be a little more nuanced than attack, attack, or block. Or don't be a warrior. The suggestion "add spears" is almost pointless until combat mechanics are expanded.

Weather. yeah. If it's cold, it should affect gameplay. If its windy, it should seem colder (hypothermia effects? Fatigue loss? HP drain? slow? numbness / clumsiness?). If its windy, it should affect trajectories (arrows, dragons, etc). Getting wet and cold shouldn't be something to shrug about.
More flyers? We finally get flying creatures back, but only dragons? What happened to the cliff racers that supposedly gave dragons so much trouble historically?
I'd like to see poison effects: delerium, nasea, vomiting, hallucination, fatigue, sleep, whatever makes sense.
It's hard for me to accept killing a man in full plate without destroying his armor, or my sword. I wouldn't mind locational damage either. More spell effects and/or spellmaking is almost so obvious that its hardly worth mentioning.
The arena of MW and OB were nice considering circumstance. I liked the progressive combatants, but I'd also like the option of just somewhat random NPCs or even the option to setup your own matches (# of opponents, challange aquaintances, NPCs or creatures, to the death or just for entertainment, etc.) Instead of the "arena as a quest line" why not "the arena as and arcade mode" -- just a place for a quick skirmish or a testing ground.

Perks are garbage IMHO. I know that will rile up alot of people, but it runs completely counter to the reason I play TES as an RPG -- you get better at what you do. While we're at it, toss 'leveling up' out too.

For a future DLC, online/splitscreen PvP would be amazing- whether it be with a team or solo.

There would have to be set limits and restrictions, especially on armour, weapons, and enchantments.

An interesting way to create variety without needing to add too much new - allow us to craft armors based on two factors - Materal and Design. When we learn a new armor type, we'd get both the material and the base design for it. Then, when choosing to craft the weapons/armor/whatever, you choose the mat, choose the design, and BAM, true custom armor.

Imagine, dwarven armor in the shape of Glass gear. It'd still be heavy armor, since, you know, Dwarven metal is a heavier metal, but it'd sure be cool looking.

Also, obligatory better spell selection/enchant variety/more intelligent hold/place mechanic for decorating, etc.

Spears in Skyrim. Now, hear me out on this one:

Spears will add much more depth and variety to combat, and to enemies you'll face.

The spears would be governed by two handed. You hold with both hands, point more or less up and facing outwards to your enemy, butt behind you.

Attacking would be rather straightforward, you attack with swings and jabs, with big heavy swings and thrusts for power attacks. Damage would be less than most two handed weapons, to balance the great reach (more than any greatsword) but still enough to encourage use. Blocking would be holding the spear across and out, like a greatsword but with wider hand spacing obviously. A bash would be a strike with the butt of the spear, not very damaging but good to get yourself out of attack range and keep enemies at bay.

Now, I'll take all credit for this one: Hold both triggers, and you raise the spear over your head and prepare to throw it. This attack would be extremely lethal, at the cost of not being able to move, similar to master Destruction spells. You'd obviously lose your spear, but with a high chance to recover it unlike disposable arrows, though the speed of the prep and of the weapon in flight would be slower. This attack would instantly knock down or stagger the target you managed to hit, if it doesn't outright kill them. Dragons would be knocked out of the sky, soldiers would be killed and pinned to walls, bears would be stopped dead in their tracks, and anything that lives would be hurting and limping thereafter.

Finishers would be fancy of course. Sweep out the legs, impale. Stun with a strike, then ran through. Ranged kill cams apply for thrown spears.

And facing an enemy with a spear? He might stagger you, and back out of the range of your sword while keeping you in his reach. A stationary archer or mage might be tempted to move once a spear goes whistling past their head. Lightly armored warriors may want to keep distance of the fast and long swings.

Please let me know what you think, I think this could be a very real and feasible idea for an upcoming DLC or update! :D

competitive multiplayer? no thanks, maybe coop, but versus has no place in a TES game in my opinion but that's just how i feel

I completely agree. There should be more spells to damage enemies as well. Like Telekinesis. Take that novelty, and be able to push and pull people. Stop arrows, even! Pure mages with high Magicka pools should be able to lift enemies into the air and toss them like dolls.

Or a spell to make a copy of yourself, like Sigdis Gaulderson, maybe even have them be weak and cast spells or do weak attacks like the Wispmothers.

Short range teleporting like Orchendor would be neat too.

Or maybe one that drains your stamina to restore Magicka, like Equilibrium but on a less lethal (and less recovering) scale.
