New patch crahes game

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:30 pm

After installing the new patch on the Xbox 360 (4/27/11) my previous saved game crashes, or causes the load screen to freeze. In the main menu screen when I try to load a saved game a notice screen appears and reads something like "The game you are trying to load has DLC which is no longer available. Places and items may no longer be available. Do you wish to continue?" I select yes and then the load screen freezes, the only DLC I have is Dead Money. This is not acceptable please fix this issue.

Unbelievable. Does anyone ever even test this stuff at Bethesda? I really don't understand how it is even possible for a major company like Beth to release patches that causes more problems than they solve. Myself, I'm an Xbox owner and I'm afraid to even install the patch until they fix this.

my minigun has that darn problem. Every time i fire the gun and let go the send stops for a few seconds than the sound of it being fired goes offs and im not even shooting the gun. it repeats the in a three second sequents and i know beuase i timed it and i done every thing from trying to reinstall my game to my dashbaord redown loading updats redown loading content. the only thing i havent tryed was another game should i go and get a new copy of new vegas.

Whats the point in playing this game if one gun doesnt work. All i wanted to fo was go hunting with my minigun looking rad and bark scorpions. if any ones got any ideas or a solution to this let me know.

yeah I'm getting the same problem. and I don't want to give up my character, you've already destroyed one of them. this is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. if there wasn't so many glitches in this game it would be better than fallout 3. I guess I'll just have to go back to playing that until you people know what you are doing with patch releases.

Seems to be a common problem for those who have save games with DM content. I'm going to be pretty miffed if I lose my previous saves because of this. Right now, it only affects the saves associated with one of my characters (even though both of my characters' saves include DM content), but the character I can't load is from my current game -- the character I was hoping to take into upcoming DLC -- and that's 19 levels lost.

The only difference I can identify between the saves is that I started the character I can't load _after_ the last patch (1.02 or whatever) came out, whereas I started the other character _before_ that patch came out.

sigh.... what a painful experience honestly i never had any problems like this in FO3 there was only 1 problem i had in that and it was in the Pitt and i kept falling through the ground in 1 spot

but yeah thats kinda the same with mine my main which was from ages ago doesnt load at all but one that i started recently gets the message but loads fine also it could be that my main has finished DM but the new one hasnt touched it so i dunno....

Yep same thing here. Had the "classic pack". Weathered 10mm pistol, 50 rounds, 5 stim packs, and vault whatever security armor...loading downloadable content...
As a fan that recently completed New Vegas on very hard / hardcoe, sat through twenty minutes of credits only to decide that I hadn't done well enough, went to a previous save, and have spent 10 hours going around and finding / completeing EVERYTHING I can honestly say that I would rather wait an extra month or two for updates rather than get them early and not be able to play. With my seething done I now have to go to work for 12 hrs. My day would definitely have been better without this update. Still, thanks for the work you guys do! Even if I lose it, that 90 hours sure was alot of fun.

BTW my wife hates you. She says I play too much.

I haven't downloaded any patch or recieved any message to. I have logged into Xbox Live though.

So no crashing, not even yesterday. Today just now though I get the DLC may be removed message. Dead Money and Mercenary Pack show up as loaded though.

Sierra Madre radio does still show up though. And no crashes for once. Weird stuff.(Did crash on Tuesday though.)

Yeah, lay off New Vegas for a bit. Don't delete your saves, you'll be jeering at yourself for a few days otherwise. And hopefully yes it'll al be fixed.

Promptly? Herein comes where I miss Fallout 1 on PC. Very buggy but the community patched it.(New Vegas has taken the bug crown from it's 3 fully canon predecessors.)

I've ran into the same problems as well, Thankfully, I didn't delete my files because I was aware of the patch and concluded that it had something to do with my saves. Bro deleted his files though and I just broke the news to him, He's pretty pissed off about it, Is their a confirmed fix for this or do I need to wait another week... God they better make Honest Hearts cheap for this.

Thank you for the new patch. I love playing a game for 20+ hours and then having it not load anymore. Time well spent.

Regarding the Xbox 360 update, we've discovered a solution to the issue that's causing problems with game saves. We'll be hosting a replacement update on Xbox LIVE as soon as humanly possible. If you haven't grabbed the New Vegas update on 360 today, we recommend you decline the update until the new one is live. We'll be sure to let you know when it's up.

Pleasefixit will be pleased to know that I have just had the download foisted upon me with exactly the same results as yourself, and that's after 110 hours game play! Oh well, I suppose that I can now go and finish Oblivion!

I think the important point here is the one raised about pre-release testing which was obviously not to the required standard in this case.

I am glad I am not the only one with this problem. I started playing this game at Christmas time and had to stop due to overload of school work. Now at the end of finals week I finally get a chance to play and there is this sadness. :(

I hope it is fixed soon.

What's taking so long with the fix? >_>

If you already have the solution, shouldn't you just need to upload it? Or did you guys find the solution and now still need to both code it in and upload it? :/

Bethesda and Obsidion needs to get their head out of the gutter and test these things before they release them. Now I've lost my Classic package dlc and cant redownload it. Ive lost over 400hours of game time over about 10 characters because of them. I think they owe us all a free DLC for this piece of $#!t of a patch, all it did was make people start over from scratch. They owe use a new code for the classic pack and the others they destroyed with this patch.

Damn, this happened with fallout 3 dlc too. People need to calm down, you can download your classic packs through your download history on xbl. I reinstalled dead money and the classic pack dlc and the game itself hoping that would fix it. Keep your saves and just wait for the next update if you already got the bugged patch.

I don't know why people are screaming of dlc being lost, just download it again. Also, you should copy your saves to a flash drive so you have them backed up.

also, there is a work around going around the net.

i've tried it but it didn't work for me but did for other people.

yeah it didn't work for me and it corrupted my game i tried to load

look Bethesda I've had this idea for a while and i think it would fix most of your problems, let the modding community fix these bugs, allow users on the 360 to access modding communities like newvegasnexus.com, thereby both fixing all little bugs that you can't be bothered with (apparently) and enhancing game play for everyone, heck you can even moderate the mods coming in and choose which ones you'll allow and which you won't. for example i would love it so much to have the weapon mod expansion on my 360 version, accompanied with all those other little mods like a perk every level, both allowing the people who play the game play it like "they" want and i'm guessing far fewer complaints.

after all didn't you create this game to give it's players a joyful experience and not to piss them off.
