[WIP] New Race: The Aborrian Beast: back-story to tie in wit

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 3:01 pm

This will be my first mod actually finished and completed hopefully not long after the release of the CK.

What this mod is, is a Race mod, with new mesh, and a whole storyline. The process will begin with just getting the race out. Then I'll flesh out a small quest. Eventually when everything has been perfected, I'll make a big storyline.

The Race, is based off of the looks of the Egyptian god of Chaos; having the strange, curved snout. Now, for obvious reasons, It isn't actually him nor revolve around him. I simply like the looks, and it's for a character idea of mine.

Basically, the story to fit in with lore is: He/she [dependent on the choice] is not a naturally born creature. He/she was the result of a failed magically experiment. Well, mostly failed. The creator's intention was to fuse a fox with an elf; So on and so forth, with each kinda of animal. This, utterly was done for educational purposes on his part; Originally, he tried getting support from the College of Winterhold, but they shunned him for his plans. Which led to an obssession and eventually he drifted away from the College and began experimenting on his own.

All this led to the creation of this Race. --Note: the back-ground and storyline is far for interesting, this is the basics.

Anyways, By this point, [how your character would of gotten to the vanilla Skyrim intro] your character had tried to escape, and ended up at the scene of the ambush, which naturally led to your temporary capture.

Anyways, here is some examples of what I got so far: Mind you, these pics are just for show of what the body would fully look like. (the model is close to completion, but still a Work in Progress)

OMG!!! Someone replied!!! XD

Thank you. It was frustrating; but 10x simpler with the usage of some body parts already stalked. lol. It's frustrating when you work hard on something that everyone ignores. So your comment means allot.

I like it; I can see this guy getting mistaken for a daedra a lot.

And I'm sure no one's actually ignoring you. A lot of people will be away from their computers this weekend because of the holiday.

Ok: I am good/decent with Modelling, as noticeable by pictures. However, I am just learning animation and Texturing I simply fail at, which I can't even do to save my own life.

For animation, is there any good Tutorials, that are easy to understand and explain in depth?

As for texturing. . .well, help would be appreciated, but if not, then A VERY simple and detailed Tutorial would be required.

Any suggestions?

Looks pretty good.

The looks like a Daedra aspect is something that you might want to develop as well - for instance making the Vigilants of Stendarr an enemy faction to the character unless the Vigilants are convinced that you are not Daedra related and not something to be hunted down (simiiar to Vampire faction). Would give a better feel to the race.

From what little we know, the Creation Engine used to model the animations seems to be an evolved version of the same engine used by Oblivion. There are some animation tutorials in the wiki for Oblivion. You might also want to search the Oblivion Mods section of the forum for animations. Some of the modders share their secrets, and frustrations, from time to time.

Thank You: And as for you input on the faction relationship, that is a good idea.

[I figured, the story in the beginning, as to why you weren't slaughtered by the Stormcloaks is because your character was weary from travel, weak, and either collapsed upon arrival and or showed no signs of threats. And as for the imperials; they would of simply assumed you as a Daedra that was somehow taken in by the Stormcloaks for assistance in battle?

Besides that: I already know how to transfer and assign certain aspects to a model, so it is usable with the 3D programs, and then transfer it back. And I have a general Idea for texturing, however, That is probably my greatest bane at the moment.

Perhaps you or someone would be kind enough to help with the texturing?

I like the idea i have got some idea′s of myself to. But the storyline is kinda cheesy.I thought of the idea that this race originally came from Black Marsh, Eslweyr or Valenwood. They headed to the see, and sailed across the seas and stranded in the northern region of skyrim. You can make this a event that is not long going on in skyrim and so cause a series of quests.

ps sorry for my bad English i′m dutch, nice 3D model BTW

I think you're the first person on this board at least to look into custom races for Skyrim. Have you considered that we'd probably need a custom race fix like in Oblivion? I mean, it's possible Bethesda left a couple of generic versions of Hadvar's initial comment and his "I'm sorry. We'll make sure your remains are returned to X." lines, but it's not likely.

Only reason this story is relatively is because it's still in its pre-concepts: Races have already been spoken of and created by Bethesda, in this case this race would break Lore.

So I figured it was born through something unnatural: Therefore the general story is up for debate and choice still. And thank you. ^.^

Really? That kinda makes me feel proud for trying haha.

Yeah, I understand what you mean by the race fix; however, when I took this on, I realized allot would need to be done, mostly which can't be without the CK. But I am still working on it. ^.^

We will not need a race fix, at least for the intro sequence; I made a playable Dremora ace and it worked without fix

I saw that: But I wonder. The dremora race already existed in vanilla skryim. Maybe that's why it work so smoothly? I mean, mine is going to be custom, entirely. Or does that not make too much a difference?

Actually it pretty much depends on what Beth' did here;we must see what conditions for the dialogues they used. When you play as a dremora, the race-line is skipped...

I wonder: Assuming the race line is skipped for the Dremora, it would easily mean that it probably do the same for a completely custom race?
