Next Elder Scrolls will be on next gen systems right?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:25 am

Probably because the next gen consoles will be very similar to current gen PCs. The next Xbox will likely be running DX11 (like current PCs), unless Microsoft suddenly comes out with DX12. And DX12 would likely be compatible with DX10.1 and later. Other than that, the next gen is likely going to consist of little more than faster chip sets and more cores. All of which current PCs have over the current consoles. So really, it's not that hard.

The Wii U is coming out this year. Since that's a next gen console the next generation of consoles is going to start later this year.

I'm not expecting much out of the Wii U. There are already very mixed previews of the hardware. Some are saying it's barely better than what we have already. It certainly isn't going to burst any new barriers and Nintendo hasn't said much at all about 3rd party software. It's doubtful they'll have too many of the mainstream titles just as in the past. I don't see them moving too far from their standard operating procedures.

I'd say that is about as likely as the MMO killing the single player series.
I think you meant this in jest, yet I'm afraid you may be more right than you know. If so, Skyrim has a lot (too much) in common with Warcraft III.

I stand corrected

The fact that the Creation Engine supposedly takes advantage of Dx11's improved efficiency would suggest that they did. I've read some doubts on that issue, but if it does, it means that the engine was coded with DX11 in mind. They just couldn't be bothered with fully implementing it. Likely since the consoles are still running DX9.

Let me put it more plainly, then. I think there's not a chance in hell of that happening.

Don't expect too much of a graphical upgrade for the next game. The consoles are reaching their limits.

Umm, you haven't even seen the power of the new consoles, so how would you know if tyhey are reaching their limit already? Look at Oblivion and then Skyrim, in just 5 years they did so many things different on the same console.

I think Wii U is actually just a late current gen console if I'm not mistaken.

I sure as hell hope so. I'm read to see these things move forward to catch up to the PC's a bit. I have to admit it's really gonna svck having to buy everything again when it happens though. Especially if they change up the controllers and other hardware and we have to buy all that stuff again. We have a PS3 and two 360's. That's not going to be cheap. Especially when we got one of the 360's free from the McDonalds Monopoly game. That was pretty awesome.

Here's what I would expect from the next generation. I would expect them to run at true 1080 HD. I would expect to see higher frame rates. Maybe up to 60 fps, but who knows. I'd also expect them to take advantage of what the current drivers offer. So I'd expect to see some noteworthy improvements. Those improvements, though, are mitigated by the need to keep the price down.

You guys really think this Gen would end that soon. It has been a while and I'm sure companies will be ready soon to throw out a new system to try to take over the competition but I dont even feel like Skyrim or most other games come close to the full potential of what these systems can do or look like. I would like to see Skyrim get support and new DLC for the next 5 years the ugly truth is that in less than a year any DLC made for this game will have been released and there will be no more support for anybody not playing on PC and that will only come from the mod community. But saying that Bethesda is going to sit back and only have one major game release in the next 5 years is crazy. I say there will be a Elder Scrolls/Fallout game released every year (each bi yearly) until the franchises die out.

Every year? No.

Chances are, if Bethesda stays true to the usual rate of up to 6 years, it will be a next gen game. Possibly even a launch title for a new console.
As a side note, if Bethesda sells either series (Which hopefully won't happen) then the new producer may release a title earlier or later than expected.

If Bethesda have been going 4+ years in between Elder Scrolls games, then they're not going to start making them ever year or two all of a sudden. They aren't Bioware.

If it's 2+ years in between each Elder Scrolls and Fallout game, then each one will individually get a 4+ year cycle. I'd love to see more game franchises go 4+ years in between installments.

Especially if The Elder Scrolls Online is successful, there will be more money coming into the company, and less need to rush things.
